Ted Cruz may be, and it's against some hefty competiton, the most useless excuse for a human in American politics.

Amazing how retrained the police are suddenly.

Wouldn't have that kind of restraint if it was black kids in hoodies or Ohio students

We had any numbers of Trumpists on this and the CA threads telling us that that BLM/Antifa would go mad in defeat and that the MAGA crowd and fellow travellers would go quietly if the election was lost.

Not working out that way today...

How can they just demand an investigation into the election when there is no evidence? Has this ever been done before?

Ted Cruz is vile. “39% of the people believe this election was rigged”- yes because you keep spreading lies, you venal cretin.

If 39% believe that the election was rigged - then 61% don't. Which is a majority...

Jones, a former Democrat representing the 91st District in Lithonia, Ga., said in a post today on Twitter: Moments ago, I announced that I am officially joining the Republican Party. "Now more than ever, the Republican Party is in desperate need of leaders that know how to fight. I know how to fight." Jones, last year, campaigned on behalf of President Trump and spoke at the RNC.

Yeah he's been a Republican for a while alright (unofficially), must fancy a run for the Gov mansion.

Ted Cruz is literally the worst example of a human being that you can imagine. Possibly even worse than Trump - or at least just as bad. An absolutely vile cretin.

Cruz is incredibly intelligent, a superb orator and debater and it is unfortunate he has such a toxic waste of a personality alright.

He is what he is, he will lose his Senate seat next time around in my opinion if he doesn't jump first and he will never go higher in office. If only he used his undoubted abilities for anything other than self enrichment.

Captitol on lockdown, Trumpers breached Capitol security.

They attacked their own objection hearing.

This day will be held up as an example for so many reasons, two that stand out for me are the "shining city on a hill" image is well and truly finished, the BLM movement can highlight it over and over again to show the different approach in terms of "crowd control". What I am sure will be focused on by the media looking to draw a line in the near future will be that despite it all, the system worked. Which doesn't really do much to help with the glaring issues.

They will presumably be gassed and beaten and Fox news is running it on a loop of the examples of the thuggery and scumbaggery?

Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!
Trump coming against Pence now. Incredible.

PBS was just airing an audio only interview with a Trump supporter inside the Capitol.

They cut the feed immediately once the Trumper indicated this was the "first stepping stone" to a Revolution. Seditious speech now, dry cut.

Trump has literally thrown Pence under the bus and is still stoking the flames

(Apologies for the tweet but I thought it was needed to show what he's saying)

How are they allowed to get up the steps? That makes no sense, there doesnt appear to be any police anywhere. You normally cant cross the street in the wrong place without getting noticed.

Was watching earlier and there were very few police there, they knew there was a protest and they knew this could have happened so why didn't they throw a secured ring around this building.

Thats my new favourite description of political idiocy ever!

I'm switching between Fox, C-Span, CNN multiple live streams and I'm amazed at the restraint been shown by the Capitol police!

The cosplayers need to be treated in the same manner as the protesters in front of the White House were treated.
As the protesters attacked by federal snatch squads were treated in Portland and other cities!

That bodies are not being stacked is a strange dichotomy of both Restraint in the fact that at the very least protesters have not been beaten off the Capitol steps! Versus that restraint being shown to white politically naive morons!

This is an attempted coup, it is sedition and it is outrightly treasonous!
There will very likely be bloodshed.

Am I wrong in thinking the policing today has been incredible weak and lax?

What if this was a BLM or democrat March? Would they be able to get into the senate building with very little hassle?

Very lax. Beyond belief really and a huge failure. How has Trump stoking his fan base for so long evaded the authorities.

Clicked in right as 2 people were just chatting at length about how Apple Airdrop works.

Looks mad though. (the push on the building, not airdrop).

    Keep calm is Trumps call.

Police on his side , can't see police doing anything to these supporters, the way they would leftists

Flicked on to Fox, first words I heard "Security here at the Capitol has failed" - Can already smell the narrative that the Democrat run DC couldn't handle security and its their fault this got out of hand....

Not saying anything negative about the "protestors" Just questioning where is Mike Pence, where is Nancy Pelosi.

In a way, I am looking forward to hearing this be spun as anything more than what it is and I would love to have a big screen set up and just play loops of trump supporters commenting on sore losers.

According to the Fox news guy there is tear gas in the rotunda and the members are being told to put on the gas masks - that this is now a very dangerous situation and the security has failed.

Some Congressman on the phone now from the House Floor - confirming tear gas has been deployed and that the politicians are being evacuated. Calling the actions despicable, not who we are as a country etc etc
