Someday people will realise that McConnell is popular in Kentucky. 7 senate wins and even won by double digits when Clinton carried his state.

Its a conservative state and he is someone who achieved a lot for the conservative movement thus he is rewarded every time they vote for him.

I don't like the man myself as I suspect he doesn't have a soul, but their is very little to that article of note, just a lady who I suspect lives in an echo chamber where everyone hates Mitch (rightfully tbf) so probably can't understand why he won yet again.

Decent article on his appeal from Kentucky.

That RawStory thing about Mitch is the same kind of nonsense the Republican Party has been spewing since the election. Don’t fall for it!

I have no doubt that he is an able, if execrable, politician. However, that doesn't negate Greene's thought-provoking analysis IMO. I don't dismiss her report at all. I do think it raises legitimate questions and I would welcome a thorough investigation with a view to establishing the facts.

    Georgia is v interesting.

Dos anyone anticipate Trump may actually end up asking his followers to vote Democrat?

Right from the outset it was said that he was not a Republican (whatever that means)

Now is his time to come out of his closet (and into the next closet).

It really is set up so finely -could hardly have been better scripted.

They have to keep Trump sweet until the votes are cast and by so attempting are subverting American Democracy(even further)

And we know what happens to those who try to keep on the right side of Trump....instantly forgotten when the time comes.

No. He has a kind of reptilian intelligence that instinctively knows that this would be unforgiveable in the eyes of a lot of Republicans. He still has plans for either himself and/or his children to run for political office as Republicans.

The very worst he would do is not to campaign for the Republican candidates but he has already had one rally with them both.

Yes, to line his own pockets. Trump couldn't care less about the senate majority as his goose politically is cooked

The “plan” seems to be to have Democrats win Georgia *again* so they can say “OMG HOW SID THIS HAPPEN BUT FOR FRAUD”

Maybe they can remove their bogus vaccine claims now that Rupert Murdoc has taken the vaccine.

Not only the 'clarification' from Newsmax, a clarification that is bald in its clarity. It doesn't exactly accept responsibility for everything that was said, more points out with vigour that things that might have been said, possibly in it's studios, were not true. At all. A big long list.

Then the letter from Smartmatic to Fox (presumably the Newsmax letter was much the same) all 20 pages of it, demanding retraction and clarification to the same extent that they spread the stuff in the first place.

Every one of these engines of sedition need to be hit with $500 million claims... Immediately!

Illegal attempts at destruction of Democratic processes need to be dealt with!

As always, tGOPers doing what they accuse others of: voter fraud.

    https://www.inquirer.com/news/bruce-bartman-election-fraud-delaware-county-20201221.html

"In the weeks leading up to the presidential election, Elizabeth Bartman and Elizabeth Weihman registered to vote as Republicans in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County officials said Monday. There was one problem: Both women had been dead for several years."

    This was in PA.

Alex Padilla nominated to fill Kamala Harris senate seat. Progressives aren't happy as he opposes Medicare for All

    Of course he does.

When you have it , you don't want others to have it.

But they're not supposed to care about that kind of thing - "Padilla will be California’s first Latino senator" - never mind his policy, look at his identity ...

I think Trumpers are being played, and played *hard*

This blog post has been swirling around online today, shared mostly people who are also quoting Rasmussen Polling (yes, Rasmussen) who earlier today shared these grandiose claims that the Vice President can "unilaterally" decide the outcome of an election.

    https://macris.substack.com/p/who-counts-the-votes-of-the-presidential

Even at the end of the blog post (if its sharers bothered to read it), it says in bold,

If Trump would be king, Mike Pence could be his kingmaker.

And, in the prologue of the article is a quote from Stalin,

"Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."

And yet, people who are pro MAGA, Pro USA, don't see the irony in trying to win an election through tactics Joseph Stalin would revere and crowning Trump a king. The whole blogpost feels like the type of trolling people submit to journals sometime to see if they bother proofreading and reviewing. Here, Trumpers are hearing "there's a chance!" and sharing an article that basically interprets the United States as a Kingdom and that Trump just has to win by adopting Bolshevik marxist philosophy...

    Ugh.

Nevermind the Laches of the law gohmert is suing being upstanding for 133 years - Gohmert himself has been a member of congress for 4 such January 6 sessions: 2005 (objection to Ohio’s electors under the law even), 2009, 2013, and 2017 when Biden shot down a democratic objection not in writing to which I will bet my nut shows Gohmert alongside all the other republicans who gave Biden a standing ovation when he did that and said “it’s over” sealing Trumps victory to the presidency. I hope the court excoriates him about this in its decision.

Perhaps this is a more appropriate thread rather than the DJT thread for Georgia talk.

    Have CNN on here.
Quarter of the vote in and it's 53-47 to the Dems in both races.

NYT, Dave Wasserman & Betfair Exchange all favouring Ossoff/Warnock outcome.

NYT tracker is incredible with its level of detail.

Any idea of when the full result will be in? Off work tomorrow but don't fancy pulling an all nighter like election night.

    55D-45R now with 43% in.

Both races, as you would expect, are tracking each other.

It's 2030 US-ET now and the counts will continue til 2am. So we should have a fair idea around midnight US-ET.

Follow a journalist who is commenting on this on social media and said that a result will not be in until at least tomorrow afternoon and possibly a few days if it is going to be close (which it looks to be) and his advice was that there is no need to stay up late tonight.

Good start by the Dems, in particular Warnock.

Turnout down in Republican areas by about 10-15%, plus the two incumbents aren’t meeting their November splits. However it’s still early days and we have no clue what’s going on in Atlanta.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,088 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Early vote expected to be 72% of overall vote

    53D-47R (50% counted)

Of the votes currently in, 90% are early votes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,088 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

The lead tightening for the Dems.

Down to 52-48 now with 54% counted.

Am I looking at a clear Dem win or are we in for a “Red” shift?

I’m guessing a marginal win for the Dems. But it’s going to be close.

Last 600k votes have been from GOP districts (in line with expectations).

Lots of votes to come yet from Atlanta and the other blue areas.
