I drafted the same free hit team earlier today but I had to go for Holding over Tierney. You must have a decent team value

Yea team value is good (still have 0.5 itb too), I jumped on players like DCL, Bamford etc early.
Also in that team I got the likes of Bruno, Cancelo and Dias at their first price.

I think that will be the final draft, only thing annoying me is the 4.0 keeper could be upgraded to a 4.5 but I dont see any starting 4.5 keepers that gw

Well I have Sterling and KDB I just dumped Salah for Fernandes. Fernandes extremely consistent and has great fixtures. Liverpool fixtures awkward and Salah iffy.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Finally made my decision. Dumped Salah for Fernandes.
Let's me have 9 players plus Brewster gw18.

    Decided a BB on DGW19 is not worth a -8 for a full 15
    Likely TC DGW19.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Tempted as well.
I currently have 6 for BGW
    Dias
    Grealish
    KDB
    Bruno
    Son
    Wilson
    Plus Kilman and Davis
Others are, McCarthy, Forster, Justin, Ayling, Coufal and Bamford
I could sell Salah, Forster and Kilman and buy DDG, Lowton and Sterling for -4
Giving me 9 for the BGW and 14 plus Son for the DGW for another -4 and BB, very tempted.

    2m plus OR

May be time for a couple of punts for the DGW.

    Suggestions appreciated!

Pogba (the transfer window open version?)
Gundogan - started 6 of thel last 7 scoring 3,3,10,3,11,9
Antonio - fitness the issue as usual.
Luke Shaw - Ole seems to prefer him to Telle but the could easily start one each in DGW

Tempted just to get KDB in for Salah & go with 8

I've signed up for a free account but cannot find it.

They make it awkward to find it - which is odd considering it is great.

Go to the 'live rank' page.

    You will see the following:

Click on the sign up here and it takes you to the transfer planner sign in. Create a username and give an email address. Once the account confirmed from the received email. It is free to use.

If I had a midfield space and was looking to free up cash elsewhere Gundogan is the man to get. Gas when you think he is cheaper then Soucek. Seems to have played his way into the side.

Looking at my team I only have 4 to play in 18 (Kane/Son/Bruno/DCL) so the Free Hit is a no brainers...

    Looking at the following

    Leno (or any keeper <4.9)
    Cancelo - Tierney - Dias
    KDB - Rashford - Son - Bruno - Saka
    Kane - Wilson

    (Steer - Mitchell - Kilman - Davis)

With this team I have 0 itb so any price swings could scupper it. Any thoughts suggestions?

Other option would be to downgrade Tierney/Dias/Kilman to Holding/Saiss/Douglas and upgrade Rashford to Sterling?

After a great start to the season I've slipped from 12k to 120k the past 8 weeks so keen to stop the slow rot. Will have a strong 11 for GW19 regardless

I like it apart from 2 spurs forwards. Villa have gotten very good defensively and Martinez is a top keeper, I'd probably go for Martial instead of Kane and Sterling instead of Rashford if I was you.

I have the same 10 outfield players and Darlow instead of Leno.
Personally I prefer Rashford to Sterling as I think they are both as likely to blank or haul. You never know with either of them and Rashford may be a good differential as not many seem to fancy him.
Regarding Kane and Son. I have them in as rank protectors, as well as amazing on form players. Villa are solid but if both of them go off it's such a rank killer. Im in the mid 50k area and went up to 15k with a great start last gw, then spurs played (I have Son) and I my live rank went back into the 40ks.

Just adding to the discussion about Villa being very good defensively and people electing only 1 of Son/Kane for this BGW based on this.

Essentially, their discussed good defensive work was mostly away from home. Prior to their last away game at Old Trafford, in 7 games they had only conceded 3 goals, kept 5 clean sheets in those 7 games.

Their defensive record at home by contrast in the 7 league games, conceded 11 goals (those were across 4
consecutive home games) and 3 clean sheets.

Now, I understand not everyone buys into the difference in Home/Away form. But since lockdown, statistics show that away teams are winning something like 60% of games (of the top of my head).

I just feel Spurs are quite likely to score at least 1-2 goals and I am going with both Kane and Son on my FH. Just my 2 cents on who to choose this week with so many good options.

I'm doing the same. They'll be big captain picks too (as a lot of non-FH'ers won't have many options), so going without them could mean you lose ground on your FH team.

Definitely a solid template forming for the free hit teams. From what I’ve seen so far online, in terms of city players, most people are preferring the 2 at the back and KDB/Sterling in the middle. Not too many going with double city mid option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,447 ✭✭✭Ginger n Lemon

What I do wonder though are we all too hasty to be selling off Martinez & Grealish for this blank GW? I mean they could actually do not too shabby vs Spurs. I think Grealish will play on the left which I think is his best position, up against Aurier who is a well a hell of a right midfielder : > could be returns there.

Yeah, I noticed that not on FH myself because I have no need. But I am one of those geniuses/fools who has Sterling and KDB in the midfield and a Man City defender. It has not gone well for most of the season so far. But given the fixtures in the next five/six I have to stick to my guns. And hope city really click.

Only 5.1% own Sterling if he does nothing much over this run of nice games, I will concede defeat on him. Not only that, I know I will likely have to stomach some rotation.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I am not hitting the FH button - I have 9 starters plus Brewster. Two of the starters are Martinez and Watkins. I cashed in on Grealish a few weeks ago, it worked out.
Martinez should get save points v Spurs at least, and although Watkins has been frustrating with his poor finishing and hard luck VAR calls, he keeps plugging away. As for Grealish, the former Irish star of the future can score against anyone on his day.

Villa are 8/5 to win that Spurs game, Spurs 6/4. Nothing in the difference, so the idea that the Spurs assets are any less risky is based on old thinking IMO.

True. But I think the main Spurs players will score more than the main Villa players in gw19, even though Villa have a double it is Man City and Everton. For those trying to cover gw18 and gw19 makes sense to go Spurs.

I'm going to wait one more day on the free hit option. I will be free hitting but with 40 positive tests who knows what games could be pulled.
