Reminds me of people who refused to order anything from the Chinese takeaway, back in March and April incase they caught Covid :D

Not you but, anyone who thought they would get it because it was a Chinese takeaway is a ****ing moron!

I actually made a point of ordering from the local Chinese when that started happening. Pure stupidity them losing business like that.

If it was the private sector, the pressers would have been outsourced to India by now.

Probably should have outsourced the contact tracing - might he able to handle it then

Do you really expect more of a crowd that tried to cover up the awful cervical check scandal not so long ago?

Good luck...You're gonna need it when the stans get their hands on you

If you're going under that assumption then, people should make their children live out in the garden until this is over.

Ask yourself honestly: Would you be happy enough to be living in under the same roof as someone who interacted with students, teachers and principals who had Covid?

You don't have to eat a takeaway, but you do have to live with the people you live with.

I've seen worse. In Aldi Maynooth on saturday every single staff member at the tills had their mask around their chins. And the Tesco extra in Maynooth a fair few of the staff stocking the shelves had MOUTH visors only. Literally a thin piece of plastic a few inches from their mouth. Does absolutely nothing except make the wearer look like a complete bellend.

Definitely worth reporting that to Tesco and Aldi. I try to minimize details so as not to get anyone fired

I gotta say, wearing a mask all day is really really uncomfortable. I empathize with them. But it has to be done. Not being able to get an appointment for a follow up on your surgery is a lot more uncomfortable and that's what we do to people, and worse, if we are irresponsible

When they say Press Conference at 5.30, it needs to be at 5.30. This is constant and sloppy and does not do anything for instilling confidence.

Would not wash well in the private sector.
Hmm, busy people collating lots of data in middle of a pandemic. The private sector has its own share of useless or poor practices!

Seems the balance of evidence on transmission has moved much more towards risks from aerosols in indoor spaces more than surfaces. Obviously hand to face type transmission is a big deal too.

Supermarkets should ensure that everyone sanitises their hands on the way in. That way the products remain clean as they’re being handled with mostly clean hands..

Main thing is keep your trips to supermarkets and shops brief, work from a list and stay out of unventilated areas.

This spike very likely came from a cohort who’ve mingled indoors, not from handling groceries.

That being said, as positivity rates go up in the community, other risks go up. So definitely sanitise your hands and avoid face / hand contact when you’re out and about. You don’t need to continuously wash or sanitise your hands at home or anything like that. You’re just trying to keep the virus out of your home and you shouldn’t be having visitors to the door.

Having a routine or a barrier at your hall door and getting into your car by sanitising or washing hands isn’t a bad idea.

You probably don’t need to go to huge extremes, but the advice is mixed. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily over the top to remove external packages and give the fruit and veg a good wash before putting it away.

Oh it's awful, there has been so much racism against Chinese people and people of east-Asian descent since this started. People passing them on the street are shouting "coronavirus" at them

I think you're mixing me up with someone else. I never said that me and my family were vulnerable.

But nice to know that I'm not to be scared because others go around with big balls on them and believe it won't affect them or others.

I'm not scared of the virus but not for the reasons you might think.
I was scared at the start did everything possible to protect my son who is special needs, did everything by the book would not even let family visit or my daughter out and play with friends, the irony was that the one I was protecting most still cought it and infected the rest of the family.
Reality hit me with a sledge hammer you can't control everything or anything in relation to the virus its going to spread people will sadly die.

    Insane

Sad to think those 6110 cases will translate to 61 deaths in a few weeks, if that 1% or so CFR keeps up

This is insane. Will be close to 1000 in hospital tomorrow at this rate.

Not a chance schools could open with these case numbers next Monday

We are apparently averaging now 3000+ a day over last 7 days.

Seems they think “4000-5000 cases a day over last several days”

700-800 per 100,000 being what they think is the underlying reality,
