Key reason: your crypto will be stuck on Revolut with no way to send it anywhere else.

I keep seeing this reason but why is it bad ? I have crypto on Coinbase for most of this year and haven’t spent , sent or received any to my wallet .Revolut seems cheaper for crypto purchases or am I missing something?

It’s not crypto. It’s a token. It’s not Bitcoin. It’s a synthetic Bitcoin. You’re not buying up any of the 900 mined daily.

Was driving myself insane with all the price checking and decided that I'm not getting into ALTs after what happened at the beginning of 2018. Even though it was slowing down and there'll probably be a correction soon, I sold my XLM and ETH for BTC that I'll park as a long term thing and come back to it when there's something it can really do for me.

Of course I'm now absolutely raging that my portfolio is down 25% in USD on what it would have been if is just left it alone ffs!

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but if you don't understand why not truly owning the crypto you are buying is important, you really need to do more crypto research before you consider buying any.

Can't buy with AIB on crypto.com. Is this the same with AIB for all crypto purchases? Tried revolut too but no Bueno. Bag holder here from 2018 and I remember I had to deposit money into binance account.surely not the same?

My AIB debit card is the one linked to my Coinbase account, never had any issues, 18 months since I bought anything with it though.

But Revolut gives you exposure to price movements in bitcoin, Eth etc and it's easy to transfer any gains back to fiat currency (euro, USD etc). It's not a bad option for beginners to crypto.

    Orange pilled.

If you can't buy with AIB - close your account with them.

    What's wrong with using binance?

Reading through the usual crypto forums, subs and sites. Glad with the gains but what an utter ****fest; "HODL we're all going to get rich together!", "Don't sell, iron hands!", "This is nothing, going 10x soon", etc. A lot of poor schmucks being unloaded on and they have no idea.

You told us you were selling out around 12 months ago because the whole space was a joke, every project was a joke, etc. What happened with that?

Im not sure this is true, for someone who wants to attempt to only turn a profit in bitcoin i think revolut is okay. So what if you dont own it, the profit you can make from it is real which is what most people want.
Revolut doesn't seem like its going anywhere anytime soon.

I am selling a significant chunk in this bull. 99% of crypto is garbage or solutions to problems that don't exist, e.g. my BTC does nothing, doesn't produce anything itself, doesn't do much more than when I got it years back.

As mentioned, it's mainly herd psychology, which is why crypto is currently going crazy, pyramid mechanics, and many of us called this bull a long time back.

Yes indeed, Revolut is fine for the masses who just want an easy way to "buy" and then sell later. It's one of the reasons we are seeing the gains we are. If anyone has ever looked at crypto on Revolut, then it starts producing a daily "X crypto is up Y amount" notification, which is incredibly enticing for the uninitiated. The stock market for joe public.

It's also lightning fast for use on exchanges like Coinbase, e.g. cash from CB to Revolut bank account or vice versa takes seconds to transfer with tiny fees (ironically faster/cheaper than most crypto I use)

Wow. So a bit like USD?

It can work both ways. The fact that it was made flexible could technically both load to supply inflation and deflation. But yes there isn’t the type of certainty you have with Bitcoin.

Have sold a percentage of BTC, and lucky enough to sell a % of Eth this morning at 24 hr peak. Not bothered with the alts yet, hoping these gains cascade down to them at some stage.

Along with PoS, EIP1559 is coming and will make Ethereum more deflationary than Bitcoin.
Worry not, Padawan. Ethereum isn't the enemy of BTC, it's going to be the road it travels on when it's in the hundreds of thousands and you want to spend it or use it on chain without regular crazy fees (unless you want to keep it on an exchange and use Liquid?).

BTC a full 3 k lower than ATH whilst ETH pump continues, I think we are entering shake territory for the space

Starting to smell like Jan 2018

Just sold some of my BTC there too.
I'm not saying a correction is gonna happen but I'm happy to take some profit

Are the four year cycles becoming three year for some reason or would you not think it'll be more like the shake out that happened at the beginning of 2017? BTC exceeded it's previous ATH, then collapsed 35%. For a week. Then the rest of 2017 happened.

    Dunno Grindle,

What I do know is a daily close below 28 K will mean short term sentiment has changed

I mean who wants to watch their hard fought gains go down the toilet?

I might be the weirdo here and it's been great watching the spikes and all, but...me. I want my gains to go down the toilet, I like buying more at lower prices and still have very long-term confidence.

People panic sell into my gaping maw and I love it.

I had the same approach in Q1 2018, then I lost 90% of my original investment ( sorry, I meant life's savings)

Sorry to hear but foolish move investing 90% of your life savings, hope you bounced back alrite, you certainly learned the hard way

Sorry for the heresy of bringing it up, but gold and silver are doing pretty well today :-)

Possibly some of the money currently being positioned as an hedge against currency debasement is *slightly* moving away from BTC as precious metal prices have became too tempting in the past couple of weeks.

Doesn’t change my medium/long term positive view on BTC, but will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days.

Edit: and ouch, I see we are back below 29k.

What level are we looking to buy at? 25k, 20k or somewhere else?

I remember the last time a big correction happened and I got caught badly on the dead cat bounces. I'm not saying don't rush back in but just be cautious
