The nightclubs are jam-packed in Wuhan and parts of Australia. Why is it they can open up everything ?

We need to relax the restrictions they said......:pac::pac::pac::pac:

Jim O'Callaghan was the cheerleader for that let's not forget.

Because they shut down a lot harder than we did and closed the borders.

We are not even seeing the consequences of Christmas Day yet

Ah a good chunk of the Christmas Day impact should be in the numbers at this stage.

Of course we have no idea whether the trend is bad, very bad or awful until we see the swabs data tomorrow. As many have said on this thread, they should be reporting swab data not case data until they get the system sorted. It's pointless announcing case data that they know is way off in terms of accuracy.

I think restrictions will be in place past Patricks Day.

The EU have ****ed up the vaccine supply.

So it will be even later.

I think the UK policy of just giving one dose is wrong. US as per A Faucci is right. Less chance of breeding a resistant strain.

That number likely doesn’t include any backlog, or minimal amounts.

Swabs for the last two days were around 5500 and 4500, I can’t imagine it’d be immensely lower today. So the backlog of.. what was it, 9000 or so cases? It’s probably still to be reported.

The main thing I take from these numbers is how widespread covid actually was in the first wave back in March/April. We had similar figures in hospital but the daily figures were quiet low.

It is likely now more widespread than ever. The hospitalisations in the last 24 hours is a new record. As they lag cases by 7-10 days it is now only going to get worse. Christmas was a costly experiment.

Limericks 24 hour incidence of 334.53 is bigger than 5 counties 14 day incidence rates

    You'll find I haven't called anyone names.
I never got banned, close a couple of times ;)
I have re-invented myself many times. I usually close my account at 2000 posts.
I am afraid my previous personas are none of your business.

Was moving on, but in reply ...
You called a poster a" virtue signaller " ,and said people inthe thread were highly strung .
We have only your word for that and the next point .
Of course they are not but intrigued that you choose to change your persona rather than delete or request deletion of posts that may identify you if you have a problem with that ?
But yes ,that is your own business ;)

    Moving on....

Oh was heaven having someone hand me a lovely cappuccino! Ended up buying myself a bean to cup machine later on in the year then, great investment.

I know this isn't the coffee thread but, is the coffee the same as when it's made by a barista? I've been thinking about one of them machines for a while.

I think we can all agree Christmas wasn't worth this sh1t show.

Neither was queuing at 5am to get into Penney’s to buy Chinese rubbish.

We'll be looking back in mid March saying do you remember when the government said the schools would open back up in January.

Now all we do is recognise the the virus is at large, and minimise our risk of passing it on. All close contacts should isolate as well. I have heard rumours of people not obeying the isolation-rules. I hope that this is a very small and selfish minority

I for one wanted to cancel Christmas, but I don't think anyone, and I mean anyone, could have predicted how quickly the country would hurtle towards catastrophe.

Taoiseach and the Health Minister need to get more visible. Be honest about the schools. The incidence rates are close to the worst in the world.

They can’t be serious about pushing ahead with the schools reopening. Poor teachers

What the f*ck are people actually doing? Licking each other's faces or what? I haven't been adhering that strictly, but as much as I can, I don't know any friends or family who got it, except my brother but he's in another country.

When you say catastrophe, what exactly do you mean. Are we all going die. Its a pretty strong word.

With the backlog and the high positive swabs on Friday and Saturday, I reckon tomorrow must get close to 7000 cases surely?
