    Jeez what a solution lol

Good luck to him trying to get public buy in for that

Did you not realise that exercising 3km from your home raise R0 by 0.3?

So some lad out walking or jogging 5k from his home instead of the 2k is the real danger here and not pilling 30 kids into a classroom for 6 hours a day! Go figure!!

Well they shouldn't continue on. The son is positive so self isolate as instructed. A test is not going to change that.

Absolutely. The advice right now is assume you have it and isolate.

DAA, Retail excellence, IBEC, Hospitality federation etc... Basically anyone with an interest in getting the restrictions removed so they can open up/stay open.

Politicians often shill for these organisations and we seen plenty of that in November. Most of these politicians will be uncontactable now and won't resurface for a couple of weeks.

They told them to just isolate at home instead. I think they are to ring their own go tomorrow and hopefully get tested.

I think I am beginning to see a plan about how we will get the numbers down! Genius.

The average taxpayer would make that back for the government in a couple of days. Being cheap will cost us long term. Our priority should have been Ireland first.

All those joggers and it's the New Year, they're out everywhere.

Eamon Ryan saying there's always more to be done to suppress the virus... Eh, at what point will they look at schools?

I’m pretty sure they have tougher restrictions that they are considering, level 6 I like to call it. Every EU country has pretty much followed the same template so I’d say there’s more to come, they just haven’t announced it yet. As for the vaccine better off we didn’t order too much, this thing is going to rip through the population now, it’ll kill a portion of the sick and vulnerable and confer that herd immunity on those who survive it. Unfortunately I think the vaccines are now too late, the virus has its own trajectory, it’s a pity really, and just shows how nature can overcome even our best efforts.

So we bet on Pfizer and lose? You would attack the Government for getting it wrong and not go with the EU scheme.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Since there's no back up plan related to schools, they don't want to be looking at them at all. They dug the hole for themselves when it comes to the schools.

What do they have left to do?

    5km to 2km
    Schools closed?
    Constructions closed?

Not much else they can do at this stage

It's amazing how the supply and demand issues around the various vaccines are making people even much more eager to get the vaccine.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

And the airports and ferries still letting tom, dick and harry in to the country unchecked. It's a ****ing disgrace.

Living with covid was never possible without a realistic regulation of travel. If we had done that properly we might have got away with opening the pubs and visits.

    What a **** up.

Read my post again. I'm not saying the rules should not be implemented. I am saying I am sick of the inconsistency where there are hard measures put in place while other risks are ignored.

Its the equivalent of closing the windows to keep the cold out but leaving the back door open

I really don’t see how reducing outdoor exercise limit from 5k to 2k is going to make a blind bit of difference in all this:confused:

There are other vaccines not just Pfizer. Also this nonsense of the government paying ffs I'd pay multiples of 62 euro to get it and I'm sure most of our population would.

It won't make any difference, it's about looking like they are doing something without making the hard decisions.

They should probably close schools and construction for 2 weeks but biggest thing is to ensure that business actually follows the guidelines..

That means bosses instructing everyone to work from home unless absolutely essential..

That’s in my view the biggest issue

To the best of my knowledge swabs have never been reported on a Sunday. I presume this will continue? It would be nice (or maybe it wouldn't!) to know the positivity rate in particular.

Don't put all our apples in one basket yes. Listen its not worth our while talking about it tbh as they've made their decision anyway. I just hope it works

Swabs had never been reported on a bank holiday before Friday so I'm hoping that the swabs are released today.

I've heard of people mentioning curfews, but it's one I don't understand at all tbh. There's zero enforcement on gatherings at the moment, so curfews will just curtail exercise, unless there's other benefits I can't think of.

There is of course airport/ferryport restrictions, but we all know that's very unlikely at this stage. The border excuse is a red herring imo, even by keeping it open whilst reducing travel thru other ports will make a difference. It's a bit like saying we shouldn't social distance because the border is still open, the sum of every small change will add up. Schools going back monday week instead of wednesday will certainly break some chains

Which is exactly what the EU scheme was about.

Block book and pre pay for x amount.

Some people just love moaning for the sake of it

How did they get that many vaccines in the first place and us stuck with are EU handout.

There’s no “EU handout” we are doing a coordinated purchase. We buy the vaccines at the price that was negotiated as a bloc of EU. The EU is avoiding facing 27 countries outbidding each other, which would have left a mess in Europe. There was also a risk of countries monopolising supplies.

They’ve spread their bets across multiple vaccines and they’ve also put huge money into many of those companies up front that’s driven some of the innovation.

Also Ireland is a net contributor to there EU at the moment - handouts aren’t acting to do with it.
