Not a hope they can open schools now.

Its not just numbers that are worring but we are at nearly 20% now of all swaps testing positive.

Also by no longing testing close contacts its going to be rampant in community.

For example common enough scenario over Christmas I end up being close contact as one of my family members tests positive. I'm a close contact so isolate. However I meet up with another family member two days before we knew about positive case. But because I'm not tested they are not classed as close contact.

Yes you could tell them to take precautions aswell but if they have 'no actually proof' they are close contact they have to return to work as won't get paid?

Then their kids also return to school aswell if they reopen.

See how it all gets out of control very quickly?

Very sad that death of healthcare worker Mariter Tarugo on news just now.
Not mentioned once on Boards, came halfway round the world to this country from Philippines. Husband had CV19 and could only watch funeral from car.

Is the woman who had the first baby of 2021 and also happened to have COVID without knowing, counted as Covid hospitalization?

The OH wants me to collect furniture from a deceased relative tomorrow in Cork City. The family, who will be helping us with the stuff, have a connection to Dublin in the last few days.

I'm not comfortable at all with the situation, but am I being OTT?

Just wondering how many people are going to hospital for routine procedures or having kids etc and just happened to have virus?

It be nice to find out as with virus so rife in community , many people will test positive for covid whilst going to hospital for other reasons

We are in for hairy few weeks but with strict implementation of restrictions since 24th. Perhaps by 10 January we will be on the right path to a brighter 2021

If we did that you would have them all crawling from the woodwork saying look at the massive reductions in cases. We are over the hump, open it all up.

No. I did a search and nothing.

I'm not going to rummage through 100s of posts in several different forums but whatever.

What about construction workers? I doubt they are all keep distances & often wash hands. If the current situation is getting out of hands i think i’d be better to get the construction stopped too for a few weeks - it really won’t change much? Or am i wrong thinking this way

    Yes.
We’ve 2 already waiting for results as they were close contacts of confirmed cases.

Not being OTT at all. This is getting very scary now. My friend is a GP, he told me 3 times before Xmas, That he is extremely worried and frightened about the figures during and after Xmas.
He wasn't worried the first time around.

Yup saw that yesterday. Limit of ten at the funeral too. Where are the "should have stayed at home" ers when things like this happen?

Interesting that number of testing yesterday was lower. A small positive in dire times? Hopefully numbers may be close to peaking. Here's hoping

If not then stay at home.

County breakdown is obviously to be taken with a pinch of salt, but I wonder was it a mass exodus from Dublin in December that’s pushing rates up elsewhere? Even when cork hit half of Dublin cases in previous waves it was worrying. But to see Dublin at about 10% of total is weird.

Yep. I'm "essential," I'm currently on leave (not covid). Going back in a few days and I'm scared because we don't enforce anything and most people I work with are anti maskers. Considering asking my GP to sign me off on stress leave tbh because while I want to work, I'm high risk.

your employer is exceptionally negligent then
