Presumably have them all vaccinated in that period. Well first jab anyway.

2,143 cases up North this afternoon

I think this equates to in or around where we were at peak last April.
They are having about 14-20 deaths per day which would be 42 - 60 in our terms, which it w hat we were having in April, and at 2000 cases that would be us having 6000 which I think we would have been regularly at in March/April if testing was catching cases properly.

Completing all the vaccinations in the care homes over a three week period.

I wonder if we'll be put on the same amount of weeks lockdown as up North to make it a similar level across the whole of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Would rather a shorter lockdown but I can see why we may end up in another long lockdown except we haven't got Christmas this time to undo everything .

Think he meant doing dose 1 in all of the nursing homes in a 3 week period from next Monday, then the second doses all in a later 3 week period.

Anyone else been out and about today? Was on my way home from work there a short while ago and the roads areabsolutely packed.

    (

Went to Lidl Rathfarnham earlier, which was fine, but the roads were very busy, and Marlay Park car park looked to be full. I guess people getting their park walks in, in advance of any 5km limits

Do you honestly think people are going to obey the 5km rule irrespective of lockdown or not?

3 week sweep for nursing homes says Reid, starting on Monday.

Theres a small number being done next week but widespread from 11th.

Residents and staff with 2nd dose should be done by mid Feb.

3 more hospitals being added to vacination programme from Monday also.

People are sick of it. How many more "critical junctures" will we have? The messaging is just annoying people at this stage.

I wouldnt rush if youre happy there. I cant see real enforcement and anyway someone cant really be stopped from 'going home'. Im kind of in similar situation as I divide my time and I propose to continue doing so every few weeks as Ive done since this thing started

The govt said you’re free to travel back to your “main residence” any time after the 26th. That will have to hold even if they change restrictions instantly today.

That poster has been way off the mark for the last few weeks, I see no reason for that to change now.

I don't always agree with Séamus - sorry Séamus - but I respect him as a poster.

Even if I don't agree - and sometimes I do agree - with what he has to say at least he tries to use logic in his arguments and is prepared to accept when he called things, on occasion, incorrectly - and we've all got things wrong at one point or another.

Just in work this morning to get the vaccine !

This is the best Christmas present and is such a relief after worrying I will catch it at work and infect either a colleague or a patient , or someone I love at home .
Stay safe all until you can get this too .

There won't be much good news on this thread over the coming days/weeks, so at least there's a good post!
I can't imagine what a relief if must be for you!

Great news, glad to see its being used where its most needed. Second dose in a few weeks and you'll have a weight lifted off your shoulders.

Do let us know if you get a fever or any of the other usuals after a vaccine

Up to 25,000 over the next few days. Close contacts average at 15 but many at 30+, clearly the problem.

Some will, some won't. The government know that. They're just hoping that enough observe it to help drive numbers down. This isn't a game of absolutes.

Went to stop off at Aldi and did a u-turn because there were maybe 4 or 5 empty parking spaces. Very little at home in the freezer because i was avoiding the pre-christmas madness in the supermarkets :(

Was out jogging for a couple of hours this morning. Not that many about walking, running or cycling, not too many out driving either.

Went to Dunnes then after and no queue to get in, not anyway busy inside.

Was in our local Aldi half an hour ago.

Roads completely empty, store no busier than any other weekday afternoon, i.e. fairly quiet.

That would be the well known curse of the curtain twitchers/recent registration brigade. They seem to get the lions share of neighbours mass house parties, packed pubs with no rules in place, and supermarkets crammed aisle to aisle.
