    What?

Surely liverpool are making huge profits from all their recent success so where is it going? Doesn't seem to be on transfers.

That wouldnt look great for the rest of the leauge of a team with 1 to no fit senior CBs wins it, let alone miles clear vy March

Rest of premier league hasnt been great for two years standard well dropped.

You do know there is a global pandemic and that pretty much has shut down the world and all clubs a bleeding money?

I still don't understand your point. How are clubs making money with the pandemic.? (33% revenue gone).

    Please explain.

Fair enough for a small club but liverpool have been raking it in and only spending the profits made on selling players. Surely the owners could dig deep and splash out considering how bad injuries are affecting the club and stop being like mike ashley

Leeds now the 3rd highest scorers behind Liverpool and Chelsea, which is good going considering Bamford cost £7 million, Raphinha £17 million and Harrison is there on a loan (albeit that Leeds have an option to buy). And their combined wages is reported as being between 100k and 150k, depending on the source...or about one third of Aubameyang...

Anything but winning from here on would have to be considered a bottle job, liverpool barely fielding a full squad and some still looking like they are recovering from covid. Man city couldn't even field a team this week.

That's a valid point. FSG have built the club up by investing wisely and they ,and Michael Edward's will won't want to see that wiped out by an injury crisis.
Expect an outfield (cheap) purchase . Whether it pays off? Who knows

Leeds twitter account getting some abuse for this tweet

Pundits deserve to be pulled up on when saying stupid stuff.

while I don't agree with her point there is some logic to it.

There is no logic to it? Leeds got up because they deserved it and won championship. Another example of someone on tv to make up the numbers instead of contributing a meaningful point of view.

Bielsa teams have a history of losing steam towards the end of the season as a result of their highly intense and draining style of play.

Personally I think they would have went up anyway, and that how well they’ve done since going up has illustrated that further, but I don’t think it’s a crazy viewpoint by any means.

Where exactly is the logic? Before the Covid break Leeds had won five in a row, with five clean sheets for good measure. It's not like they were struggling at that point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,206 ✭✭✭Lucas Hood

Did the break only work for Leeds?

I've heard worse takes from pundits

    Non story

    Thanks, you saved me typing.

See above for logic....and again, I don't agree with her.

The owners haven’t taken any money out of the club thus far. Spent a fortune on contract renewals to keep a CL and PL winning team together, and also spent a fortune on stadium redevelopment, with another upgrade about to start.

Surely a good way to run a business. Unless I'm completely missing something.

If a pundit prefaced analysis of Villa wins with "but remember they shouldn't be in this division, they only stayed up because VAR got it wrong", some Villa fans might object. And they'd be entitled to, she's a pundit, she's not above challenge.

Didn’t look like that. What West Brom drawing with Liverpool has to do with Utd being contenders I do not know.

"We need more equality in football - more women pundits"
"How dare you single out a female pundit for saying something - apologize immediately"

Cant believe the owner pandered to the permanently offended.

    Yup.

This won't be popular, but she's getting particularly backed because she's female, and its not a good look when the Twitter masses leap on a woman.

No way there is there this outrage though if Alan Shearer was getting pulled up on saying something stupid.

I'm sorry, but if you're a pundit, and you say Covid had a significant role in a club winning a league by 10 points, you deserve every criticism you get.

Can see both sides, the pile on is disproportionate becuase shes a female and some fairly pathetic misogynistic comments there.

On other hand tonnes of woke journos ect jumping to her defense which is a bit patronising towards her tbf.

Its 2020 isnt it, everything has to be extreme on one side or the other. She cant get a bit of deserved mild abuse and people just move on, its spawned a life of it's own now.

I don't know how Leeds are supposed to NOT respond to that.

A pundit saying something that doesn't make a lot of sense. Nothing new there.

Her sex has nothing to do with it.

At best I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't articulate her point properly.

"Leeds were promoted because of Covid" maybe should be have been.. "The long break due to Covid benefitted Leeds?" Even still, her point was more akin to a Twitter rant or Facebook comment.

Storm in a teacup all the same.

Pundits say stupid things all the time, seems a bit small time for the Leeds account to actually respond to her and create this storm in a teacup.

They’ve just won away 5-0 and have scored the third most goals in the league. I honestly can’t believe they’d even bother being annoyed by a pundits throwaway comment.
