Just read that a full level 5 restrictions are needed, they are blaming everything, retail, gyms, home visits... Blaming everything except for schools.

Will they ever look at the schools instead of blaming other sectors?

I don't understand blaming retail, sure aren't we wearing masks (unless it's those few idiots going around with their nose hanging out... In that case, I must have had caught covid at some point and have been asymptomatic if retail is that dangerous).

Whats the difference between me going to the shop for a pizza or some women going to a shop for a handbag, both are non essential and both make full all difference. The fake outrage on here is embarrassing.

When she's supposed to be self isolating, as this person was, it would be just as disgusting. The less places for ar§eholes like this to go to, the better.

    You can’t eat a handbag.

Can **** in a handbag though...

I still don't think masks made a blind bit of difference in retail. **** all cases before masks made mandatory and no evidence that masks reduced anything in shops where you just casually pass by others for short period of time.

Regardless of masks, if general retail was risky I think we'd be hearing a lot more retail workers getting covid.

Yeah, that's just utter stupidity on their part though.

If it was a healthy person though, what is the difference

Not much. I get my takeaway delivered though. Mainly cos I'm lazy :D

Did the 5km thing come in because restrictions were announced and 750,000 people went for a walk in Glendalough at the same time? Or something like that?

Agree totally, if non essential retail restrict numbers in the shop and are strict on masks the risks would be very low. It works for supermarkets. Would keep the economy ticking over and people in jobs.

One caveat is that we now have much better testing ability than we did in April but it’s still a not a very good situation and that’s not much point in trying to minimise it. We need to reduce our contacts and get this thing back to manageable levels or it could snowball.

It's people, not places. The less places where groups of people congregate, the better. Having said that, I do think schools need to close now for a time after the Christmas holidays. And yes, of course you could have caught it. Any one of us could have it and not know.

How can you fine someone for not doing something which is not mandatory? Although I think she’s a bit of a gob****e.

  • Do something about it so. Knock on their door, give out, call Hoolahoop's Office, whatever.

It's an observation, I'm not going to ask them if they are breaking rules because I simply don't know.

My point is, the problem is stemming from household congregations and not the pubs. That has been proven in the data over and over.

I think it's about keeping track of where the cases are and where they are coming from.

In the last 14 days (16 Dec. to 29 Dec. inclusive)

    11,721 cases
    13,260 swabs

    Difference of: 1,539

Also case data for the 25/26th December has been uploaded to the data hub so the charts here are accurate again :)

Something like that yeah. We live rural and within I'd say about 3km drive of popular forestry. During the last lockdown we literally couldn't get up or down the road because everyone decided to come up and have a walk in the mountains. Sure whatever they're being healthy getting out and about I suppose, but it was ironic we could no longer use our local walkways because everyone else was breaching the 5km.

The road at Cruagh was completely blocked one Sunday and everyone got fixed penalty notices.

All around Massy's, Hell Fire, Cruagh etc all best avoided if we go to level five again tbh. You'd have more peace in a park! :D

Is she not suppose to be self isolating as waiting on a test or result? I don't think the purpose of the drive was the mo point but that her daughter was positive

I don't think they even track cases properly to figure out where the spread is occurring. Even if it's passing someone by in a shop, I'm all for doing whatever it takes. But what's the point in making masks mandatory in retail and close them down again? They must be very dangerous places to be or do they honestly don't have a clue what's going on and just guessing as they go along. Yet they refuse to look at schools.

It's bloody wrong if not isolating before a test isn't mandatory

Can you imagine getting away with that in other countries?

Should be a very very easy fix from the government

Either isolate or else a massive fine

Sure isolating as a close contact infringes on human right or something.

No, the poster replied saying in fact he had missed that and the person was a moron for doing so.

I think keep schools and creches closed, curfew enforced from 8pm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,077 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Do we have the guards to enforce a curfew?

Is that a daily record, most for ROI :(

Daily case records for both ROI and NI I believe.

Still, we surely had far higher unreported cases in the first wave.
