How much money did you give to Jeff Bezos this year?

    Giving out about him is all the rage this year but I wonder how much are Boardsies actually giving him. I bet some people give out about him but secretly when no one is looking they whip out their credit card and land a couple grand into his account.

    Private poll of course. Boards was messing up my Euro symbol so it was left out in the poll options

    About €500. 16 orders since beginning of the year. That's probably double what I'd normally spend but sure the coke and hookers wasn't possible with social distancing.

    I try to give as little as possible to him. One christmas present for my niece in England costing about 20 pounds.

    Didn't buy a damn thing from Amazon and do my best to avoid it. If I'm looking online I'll find the seller on the Amazon site and attempt to buy it directly from their own store or social media.

    Typically it's cheaper too as they don't need to mark it up for Amazon's cut.

    I've purchased everything possible throughout the year right down to wagtastic bones for the dog saved over 25 euro compared to buying 20 from Tesco.

    The thread is based on the false premise that purchasing from a business is actually giving the money you pay to the owner of the business.

    Having said that I didn't buy anything from Amazon this year.

    Not out of any animus towards the proprietor but because I found good value elsewhere.

    Over a hundred orders this year and looking at the first few pages of orders the average order was about £25 so no way Amazon have had less than £2.5K from me this year and hopefully I'll be spending that much with them next year :)

    Wake me up when it's all over.

    I spent 2,783.22 on Amazon since October,
    I got 176 euro worth of orders for free as they didn't arrive on time which enables the buyer to request a refund.
    Saved on every item compared to purchase elsewhere where possible;
    Have two teenagers and a child to provide Christmas for,
    And a wife of course;
    Was also useful to send presents directly to family members

    If you lodged $250,000 into your bank account every day since Jesus was (allegedly) born this night 2020 years ago, you would still be poorer than Jeff.

    Not saying we would all be as stinking rich, but having that as a startup option would sure make things a lot easier.

    Amazon is a brilliant platform though.
    I've spent a fair bit on it throughout the year.

    I try not to use it but it does have things that you would find hard to get elsewhere. I do like that suggestion above of checking if the seller has their own site, will try that in the future. We do have the extra issue of being a country at the edge of a continent, so some sellers won't ship here, and after a recent bad experience with Parcel Motel, I'm reluctant to use those types of services again.
