If people are begging bmw dealers for 100k cars, is it any wonder they dont tend to be too generous with trade in pricing.

Don’t think it happens too often Mick. But it’s an illustration of where things are currently.
I’m finding that while the dealers in visiting are keen to deal none of them are overly bothered as they have all hit their targets and beyond.

You negotiate a 5k discount from the dealer on the car?

Guy I deal with told me they have no orders for diesel X5 as it is now so expensive. Glad we got ours this year. Would have gone hybrid except no seven seat option.
there is a shortage of stock apparently of phev's and they are not able to get as many x5 45e as they could sell he told me. They had one left that they were going to run as a demo but a customer rang and offered list price for it over the phone. They debated whether to sell it as they need a demo he said but took deposit in the end.

Yeah, on the €5k discount. Do you think better can be done? Will be going to a few more this week and also going to take a look at an etron and a Q7 hybrid as well.

The guy I deal with told me BMW are not giving them any financial support on hybrids but are on regular cars hence he can give me more discount on m135i over 330e so 5k sound ok. We got more off our x5 diesel last year but seems they are not struggling to hit numbers this year.

Got a good offer from audi naas last week. Worth talking to if you are interested. Kind of gone off the car I was given the offer on for now but genuinely impressed with what I was offered.
Meant to hit a few more audi dealers and bmw also but haven't got around to it yet.

Update on this....going to a BMW dealer tomorrow to look at a 330e msport pro.
Part of me thinks I am going to be underwhelmed by it in comparison to 5 series but I do also think the 3 is a bigger step up from old 3 than the 5 is from its predecessor so an open mind and another part of me thinks a 3 will suit me much better. It is beside where I work and 15kms from my house so I am going to drive from them to my house and back to judge the range. He is letting me run through a full battery on test drive anyway so fair play to him. That will be me fossil fuel free in the main on Monday to Friday if it will do it. Obviously I know its limitations so am not expecting to be petrol free completely. Can charge at work, I got first one installed this week for a staff member who got himself an outlander.

On a 330e is there any must have options in your opinions? At the moment I am only really taken in by cognac leather (love it), upgraded metallic colour (probably Portimao blue) and possibly technology plus pack (although its expensive and I really only want it for the parking assistant plus, not quite clear if this is available on its own or not).
Do BMW do folding rear seats as standard nowadays? They didnt back when I had them anyway up to previous generation.

On the 3 they do, not on the 5 for some odd reason.

As regards must haves, I'd have to have m sport plus pack and visibility pack myself. Maybe tech pack too.

Portimao blue with mocha leather is a classy interior when seen in person. Saw one in that spec and thought it was striking.

had a quick look at the configuration and it would be hard to choose which packs you didn't want..

the biggest must have if it were my own money would be the adaptive lights with high beam assist. Really can't exaggerate how good it is if you do night driving. Don't know if you can spec that without laser headlights which is an expensive option. adaptive + hba on LED lights would be just as good if it can be specced that way

How dark is mocha in person? Looks quite dark on website but I will see if I can get a look in configurator. Its an msport pro I am driving tomorrow so I will see what I think. Other option is to scour UK websites for a slightly used one specced to the gills with options, if that avenue is still available in 2 weeks time that is!

I don't do a huge amount of night driving in unlit areas to be honest. I live in the 'burbs and do most of my driving in them. One dark road if heading to the rugby club but thats few and far between now at night time since I stopped playing.

I will go through options list with the salesman in good detail, I possibly have a bit to play with as I was budgeting for an A6 or a 530. Although money is money dont want to be wasteful.

don't get it if that's the case, wouldn't be worth it, for me easily the majority of my mileage is in the dark so it's unreal being able to turn high beams on once instead of maybe 300 times on a drive home

The adaptive lights are great BUT people will still flash you. Often times the right side only goes off when an oncoming car is maybe 3 car spaces away from you.

If you want a light interior then maybe it's not the option to go for. Goes really well with the portimao blue.

The 3 series cars built since June or July have the high beam assist button on the stalk and you can pay for an over the air software update in the connected drive store to enable high beam assist with the standard led head lights. This is a simple on/off dipping headlight. Otherwise you have to spec the visibility pack and you get the laser lights which do the fancy stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,678 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

you'd want to be doing a lot of night driving to warrant around 2k on laser lights + HBA

The Cognac leather is gorgeous and so much nicer than the oyster or black. The Mocha is ok but I think it suits a bigger car better.

What i meant to say was ill see if I can get a look in dealership not in configuarator. Looks ok in your pic there and I wouldn't turn down a used car if it had it but think I prefer the cognac. Personal tastes I suppose. Had something similar in an e60 before and really liked it. Had the wow factor.

I had saddle brown which is now called cognac with mineral grey exterior in my f30 330e and it was a beautiful combination.
It’s a little unusual but works very well.
Nicer than the mocha I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭Wailin

Yes the cognac is lovely in fairness. Much nicer in the flesh, doesn't look great in photos.

I had the colour below in an e60 and loved it. Just because it was a bit different. It had that dark green exterior paint color the e60 came in. Nice contrast and combo. Think the blue exterior would certainly work with a similar interior.

Looks same as what I had. It’s nice and it’s easy to keep.

Yes, very nice. See the 58k price tag on that car, is that inclusive of grants or what way are they advertising them?

I think pre grant so probably 5k cheaper. That tanzanite blue paint is an expensive option.

I really like it. The connected stuff was a mess when they launched the car but it’s much better now. Even the remote software upgrade works.

Car in sport mode is an awful lot of fun but laws tend to get in the way of more fun lol.
