I'm sure the technology is there to show the graphics and have the signer to one side. It's hardly rocket science.

UK briefing. They are talking about the "variant. "

On the new variant, Prof Whitty added: “It would be surprising, not impossible, but surprising if this had evolved to be able to get around the vaccine.”

I notice someone just handed Tony a cup of water and he took it and drank straight from it. He’s obviously not worried about surface spread.

Really need to learn to live with this somehow.. further serious lockdowns in January will finish off a lot of small businesses. I personally know two small business owners who have been in business 40 years and it’s looking likely This Christmas will be the last Christmas open.
My sons services ( special needs) cut since March and some expected to return in January but again all depends on what level restrictions we are in.
First speech and language appointment pencilled in for 6 the January.

    Cringe question.

    From Zara, who else.

What do you mean by surface spread in this context?

It's only a matter of time until the veil comes down for everyone and everyone just gives up on any measures out in place.

2025 will see a world unrecognisable to all of us. We were spoiled but welcome back to the good old days, I hope you play chess.

2045 is the big one :) I hope you have your ticket

Can’t be advising not to pass the gravy boat when he is water from someone.

I just saw the word cringe and I instantly knew you were talking about Zara

I'm guessing it was something along the lines of the following: "If a woman pregnant with twins attends a wedding does that count as one, two or three guests?"

Well whoever handed it to him hardly drank from it first

Ah, in fairness, it was a set up question.

I’d be the first to criticise Zara, but the Santa question was clearly set up in case kids were watching.

Fairy sure that was Luke O'Neill but still not really sure surface spread means in this context.

New strain! Quick lock up your children, panic buy in the supermarkets and cancel Christmas.

Ah, I understand and I know it was well meant, but I still couldn't help but cringe anyway. It was weird listening to Tony Holohan talking about how people should be good and not to be fighting with their brothers and sisters. If there's many kids of Santa believing age watching the briefings I'll be amazed.

Could box the signers off on a separate screen and show the graphs like the BBC do ..
Or not show Holohan et al , just the graphs and the signers .
Tired of looking at them talking at this stage , and the graphs are more interesting.

To add , I think Zara and Tony should have left out that cringeworthy advice for Santa and the children .
I can hear Santa saying " don't need your permission to do my job , thank you ! "

It's not just the briefings, Virgin will probably get a package out of it to use on their news bulletins. Kids might not be watching then either though tbf!

So we are 2 weeks since ease of restrictions and cases haven't really increased a whole lot, we are a week and a half away from things calming down (shopping wise)
Surely there is some cause for optimism that there won't be a lockdown again come January?

We'll start seeing any rise associated with opening up probably later this week

I imagine its aimed at little kids who are in the room while their parents watch the briefings

I have a niece who is five and is terribly worried about Santa not being allowed travel.
It’s amazing how much info the little ones take in.

Boris Johnson has answered the same question in Westminster. Matt Hancock and Chris Whitty have both confirmed in their pressers that Santa can travel. MM talked about it the other day. It’s just what they all do. They all sound weird talking about it.

Only 2 weeks this Friday so might be later in the week/early next week. Hopefully cases remain low though.

No imagination though from Tony .
Should not be taking the magic out of Santa .
