I thought the table would begin to open up today with wins for Liverpool and Spurs but alas not.

I don't ever recall so many teams being in contention this close to Christmas even allowing for games in hand and the late start.

So when do we start betting on Southampton or Leicester to win?

At the other end, I think the survival line could be the lowest ever. None of Brighton down to Sheffield look like they'll get anywhere near 40 points yet two of them will survive.

Given how poor the standard at the bottom is this year, they'll have too much to even be threatened at going down, bottom half finish could be possible though.

Bottom teams have been doing better recently.

Arsenal have Southampton, Everton and Chelsea in their next 3 games. Tricky games.
