Not sure how they are losing out on business by not giving their product away for free.

I think they meant paying for a sub on your own account but assigning/gifting it to another person.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Top class pod on Maradona, that’s why we pay for premium content. I don’t like the idea of making the “good” episodes, free to all.

Yeah it was great. Both guests were also on Football Weekly and I must say their pod was fantastic on it too. Wilson spoke so well on SC but his memento to Maradonna on Football Weekly was absolutely beautiful.

Can you not just give him your password and then he can login and listen?

I can see the point in releasing the Maradona episode for free, but content like that is the reason you pay for it.

One of their best shows in a long time.

I could listen to Jonathan Wilson for years

Book review slot was good, I would agree that autobiographies would be better if they were released 5/10 years after a career has finished, rather than rush them out even before retirement, I forgot some of the things they mentioned about Champagne Football, shows how mental the whole thing is, I have zero interest in Cricket but that Breath of Sadness sounded quite interesting.

Hopefully something good comes from all this.

Every page of champagne football has 2 examples of unbelievable ineptitude and stupidity. Never mind the €100k cheque change of tone.

It's not often I cringe for the man, but I did cringe today when Ken attempted a "oh no you didn't" - with sass - in response to Murph at one point.

    Touch of accidental Partridge.

    Is she?

Did Ewan have some involvement with TheJournal before he turned into that old woman from The Simpsons who throws cats at everyone she meets.

I dont think so but she refers people to his "honest reporting" when she gets challenged on twitter about things like Dublin GAA

    BTW good description of Ewan

I don't get the hate people have for Sinead O' Carroll. Think she's a decent guest if not the most interesting.

As for the stuff about McKenna, don't know how you can infer she's a "disciple" based on some tweets about his Dublin GAA stuff which IMO was perfectly fine reporting and while he had an axe to grind it didn't change the facts of what he was reporting. Dublin GAA fans are way too precious about themselves and their teams.

McKenna has gone off the rails completely these days and I've muted him on twitter so no idea what he's at now but there was a time where he was a decent journalist.

There was a time that Gemma O'Doherty was a decent journalist too :)

He's not gone full G.O.D though

Most people find her type of feminism a turn off.

No point getting into that here as its not the forum for it but while at the start it was right to ask geniune questions, but he is and always was far from impartial and he has used the figure to suit his personal agenda (similar to me stating look Germany get more EU funding than Ireland what a disgrace) and with that has gathered a following because of it.

Not interested in going off on that kind of tangent but a bit of a weird claim to say "most" people are turned off by her type of feminism. I don't even really know what you mean by that but as I said I don't mind her at all and follow her on twitter without ever noticing anything I particularly disagreed with, certainly not enough to get annoyed about her being on the pod.

Anyway, I've no issue with her contributions to the podcasts and think she's been especially good on the book review every year.

Thats exactly the point, Germany gets 12bn from the EU, Ireland gets 2bn. Thats where his arguments start and end, he screams look at how much in total they are getting compared to the other without any relevance whatsoever.

But thats not for here and he is not worth a thread on his own

I don't know what you mean to be honest. She seems entirely reasonable to me.

If you really mean a certain proportion of listeners find that she's a female journalist talking about sport a turn off then I'd agree with you. Let's be honest here: that's the beginning and the end of the problem. Because if you think she ever says something crazily feminist on SC then, buddy, you need your head checked.
