I'm struggled ng to understand how you took this out of the post you quoted.

What does the poster mean by them kind of people. Is there something wrong with them kind of people.

I'm not necessarily saying you've ever set foot in a Penney's (thanks for subtly correcting my spelling), I'm saying you're compelled by the same psychological forces that drives a person to queue outside a shopping center at 4.30 in the morning

In fsirness he is going for a specific reason of watching a match I would not call that rushing out. I think all types of pubs should be open as long as restrictions are followed

In fairness I am not sure he is talking about you as you are going for a specific reason of watching a match I believe he means those who will be waiting for the doors to open and try to rush in on Friday. I have no problems with them open and so should the so called wet pubs as long as done so safely

Edit Maybe I was wrong about the poster

It will be bookings everywhere i presume.

You know Eagle Eye we don't agree on much, especially you're love of the Patriots. But there is always that one golden moment when the twin finally meet. and this is it

Ya I am struggling to see why the science correspondence is the one front and center in relation to these stories. Should he not be covering the vaccines.

Its a mix in the places near me, from one place doing defined two hour slots for which you must have a booking to others only accepting walkins

Well imo he was just pointing out that there's the type of person that wants to be first in to everything. He's saying they'll be bursting to get into the restaurants just to be there first.

In fairness its not like a tv series or the Late Late where you know what will happen. Its the news you can't just pop in and out of it if you want to see whats in it

Nothing wrong with going to Penney's

I be more concerned with those 2 shops that stayed open 24 hours they did not seem to be following guidlines

Lee was a good correspondent for Economics but far too driven by hysteria to report on Covid objectively. I for the life of don't understand why the actual Health correspondent Bowers has taken a back seat and allowed Lee to muscle in.

George is taking after Charlie Bird, an inflated opinion of his own self importance.
When he went back to RTE after his short spell as a TD, he got the Agricultural correspondent job.
I'd bet RTE were hoping he would be bored with it and leave, but he just didn't take the hint.

I heard him say that and I just changed channel straightaway. 2020 has been utter muck and I've made a conscious decision not to listen to them anymore. Vaccine is on the way. If God spares me I'm hoping next year sees a return to the old normal....... The ability to hug our parents, pints at the weekend with family and friends, holiday in the sun in the summer, attending the hurling in person etc....
I normally dread new year's but I can't wait for it this year, just to say goodbye and good riddance to 2020.

People who are in a hurry to go to busy restaurants are the same kind of people who queue outside pennies at 4.30 in the morning.

    Prove me wrong

I think someone wants to go to a restaurant & also Christmas shopping but they don’t want to admit it :-)

Are there guidelines that says a shop can’t stay open 24 hours ??

Seeing 5he 5hr3ad is a bit buzy...going to ask everyone even if you have not done it ever would you consider if on your eay to any of the now opened businesses including gastro pubs and restaurants consider donating to any busker you see or even buying Irish based musicians songs especialy the lesser well known ones.online or cds for this seasons presents. They are very hard hit this season. You can wait til a busjer has stopped playing or singing and you dont have to hang around if you feel uncomfortable. Maybe not sing but you can clap etc.
    Much appreciated

Stop paying the TV licence is the more appropriate reponse. I've gotten 3 to 4 notices in the post since the first lockdown. All straight in the bin. A personal protest against RTE and their failure to indicate with news stories whether there was covid awareness funding provided in order to fund a news piece.

Do they not indicate the relevance of covid to the hospitalisation numbers i.e. Did they get admitted for something else and upon receiving a compulsory test it appeared they had covid? Or were they already in the hospital the last few days and got a routine follow up test which was positive?

It's effectively meaningless data to make an assessment of the scale of the covid problem and I certainly hope these numbers have appropriate context though I would not be surprised given some of the bizarre restrictions which have been imposed.

Letterkenny and Kilkenny have had well publicised hospital breakouts in the last few days (weeks in the case of Letterkenny) and that's driving hospital numbers.

Ah, I see. Yes, that makes sense. I mean, still extremely low numbers regardless and no where near some bad flu seasons. Not even comparible!

Shopping is a pastime. People will go to pass the time en famille.

Will try in January when the kids go back to school. We have far too much STUFF anyway. From experience I do realise that young kids need the next size up and so on. Get that. Dunnes online or M and S whatever.

Retail in shopping centres is for those who have nothing better to do. Doubt it will change even with a vaccine. So much for getting the kids out in the fresh air and running around.

All of the newly identified hospitalised positive cases in Letterkenny Hospital since 25/11 were positive on admission or within too short of a time period for them to have contracted it within hospital and turned positive. In other words, no hospital acquired infections identified there in last eight days. Hopefully that means it is coming under control again.

68 staff in Letterkenny out due to positive Covid tests (from a workforce of about 2000) as per the last publicly available numbers. A considerable number of them are from a section of the staff who have absolutely no patient contact at all. Universal staff testing has started there this week with many staff saying it it their very first Covid test. It will find some asymptomatic positives and increase numbers of confirmed cases among staff again.

Waterford Hospital has confirmed an outbreak in the last two or three days but thankfully numbers are not that high. (An outbreak requires just two linked cases.) Numbers increased from 2 to 7 Covid positive patients hospitalised there and down to 6 today.

Kilkenny has experienced a jump in hospitalised numbers, going from 15 to 21 to 34 over three days. Tonight the number is at 33. Hopefully that is starting to be contained. Particularly hard on staff there as Kilkenny Hospital lost two members of staff in the same day in April, one in their 40s and the other aged 51.
