How in hell do we have IT issues at this stage?

    Disappointing

It took 3 days to fix an issue in part of the IT system of the company I work for only last year and that was a well established system

When the 100 cases are added in tomorrow watch the panic on twitter, FB etc

Nolan: "We have persistently high numbers of incidence in hospital and healthcare settings, particularly among healthcare workers".

There you have it, ah sure let's put traditional publicans out of business.

Nolan does not expect case numbers to decline much further than this.

He's not being overly negative, but he did point that out - a fact that will be overlooked by a few.

R number potentially as high as 1.

    Estimate is 0.8 to 1

Whatever about the pubs part, the healthcare part is fairly obvious, you can see on the HSE Ops report nightly what hospitals are having issues with high reported cases

A decent backlog is needed to coincide with the gastro pubs & restaurants re-opening tomorrow. Intimidate more people into staying at home.

Easier to make a booking so, silver lining and all that.;-)

George Lee saying under reporting today of 'at least 100' ......that's not what I heard.

George Lee in typical "festive form" on RTE now.

The force of infection is 3 or 4 times what we would have liked - Nolan.

Cases, hospital admissions and healthcare transmission are 3 to 4 times higher than they hoped at the ‘starting point’ of easing restrictions.

Asking people to limit contacts as much as possible.

Christ I've not watched George Lee in a while on rte but he says oh we've at least 100 cases not reported today.

Ronan Glynns words were "Up to 100 cases"

He's so excitable with the hint of negative news

    He loved doom and gloom

Daily Mail reporter getting straight to the point: "Should people not go to restaurants tomorrow?"

Holohan, "We need to limit socialisation and discretionary contacts."

We're not going to stop living Tony, despite your best efforts to interfere.

They are just calling a spade a spade, but watch the anger fly nonetheless.

Ah yeah, sure if you go to a restaurant and get infected and are asymptomatic how many people could you pass it on to before it's gone out of your system.
Tony is stupid to advise caution so we can all have a good Christmas.

Cases have never been over reported on a total basis.

There have been backlogs cleared, but at no point have the total overall cases reported exceeded total overall swabs.
Many days we had big backlog cases added into daily reported cases increasing 5,7 day average. I don't recall anyone in NPHET saying todays reported number has cases from from the week before which was more than likely IT issues also.

My point is I don't see the point of coming out about IT issues on a unreported number when those cases will be added in tomorrow or Saturday.

Italy almost touched 1,000 deaths today at 993, more than their first peak (921) but their infection rate is dropping so hopefully deaths follow the drop soon

Today they announced some pretty restrictive measures to prevent people moving around over the Christmas period including not travelling outside your home town on December 25th, 26th and January 6th and recommending no one visits someone else's house. Good luck to them with that.

    It was a stupid question.

What did he hope to achieve by asking it?

People will make up their own minds.

Tony just expressed some guarded optimism there guys. It does happen.

If you set the target too high you won't reach it

I think that under 100 cases a day was unrealistic

You got it in one. Which infuriates Holohan no end, he'd rather people have very little freedom of choice. Delighted for the masochist.

Do you really honestly believe that Tony Holohan's main motivation is to needlessly destroy people's enjoyment?

There were 56 cases recorded in Dublin, 26 in Donegal, 13 in Limerick, 11 in Kilkenny and 11 in Monaghan.

    21 cases denotified

Things really deteriorating in the United States. Record cases, hospitalisations and deaths.

They could break 3,000 deaths for today.

It's the main population centers leading the resurgence now again. The CDC is warning the coming months will be the most difficult and costly in US medical history. And by costly they don't mean financially.
