Guess there's no way of knowing how busy these flights are or how it compares to a usual day (if there's a usual day in 2020) but still seems a bit mad. When there's inevitably spikes in US after it wonder will it change any approach to Christmas in Europe. https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1331365749772984333?s=19

Ventilation reduces the risk from the virus. If people are going to insist on having vulnerable people at their table, with a vaccine only around the corner, then the least you can do is try and reduce the risk. Utter selfishness and sheer ignorance otherwise.

    Hmmm

If someone in the house on Christmas day has Covid your getting it.

Its in the oxygen you breath, it will be all over the house in minutes

Btw I must tell the CDC to install windows in there Biohazard labs

Why didn't they think of that

They seem to be literally one of the last sectors not to unless you prebook via apps. I don't know how they're able to get away with it tbh.

A primary school in Cork is closing with 17 cases of the virus in one class.

That's gonna seriously upset the truth deniers on here.

Oh right so your approach is to just let the virus rip through society and do **** all to try and protect yourself and others against contracting it. Brilliant solution there chief.

When its airborne you have to sort hospitals first

    We should try that

They must change their name to Single digit Covid now. Not as catchy, mind..

Schools have been open for nearly a month

Case numbers have continued to drop in that time

They're not a major driver of spread. That's now a fact which is backed up by data

One outbreak in a school does not change that

Do have a coherent argument to put forward by any chance?

    Do children not need oxygen?

    Are they immune?

Have they all had Covid already?

    Is Covid not that contagious?

Seriously how are the kids evading the virus?

Are they all obeying the 2 metre rule and best social distancers in the world?

We should seriously study them to see how they are kicking covids ass

    I didn't say kids can't get covid

I said schools aren't a significant driver of spread

    Two very different things

Looks like there's an outbreak in Cork school. Only 6 cases in whole county in today's figures so maybe they're being reported tomorrow? https://twitter.com/ZaraKing/status/1331359275185213445?s=19

I believe the main reason for reopening the schools was that so kids education would not be too disrupted and also so that parents could go back to work be that at home or whereever. No one except maybe the delusional ostriches ever claimed that they were immune from contracting or spreading it.

As said above, cases have continued to drop over the past month despite hundreds of thousands of kids going to school every day.

The case data backs this up. I can't see how anyone can make an argument against the data but I'm open to hearing one

Given what was know about America's response to the pandemic, why is RTE saying we need to look at how America deals with Thanksgiving.

Surely, we need to ignore anything they say about the pandemic.

I don't have the HSPC figures to hand but think private households are 75% of where transmission of infection is suspected to occur and maybe 2% for schools which compares about the same with a lot of other settings. I could be wrong and someone else might know better of have the figures to hand.

I guess a lot of it comes down to where the people in the private households have picked it up. It seems to be a chicken and egg thing of they've spread it there but likely have picked it up in community to bring it in the first place. Think when cases are so high it's very difficult if not impossible to pinpoint where these cases originated. I think in that context people question the schools narrative but there's not hard data to back it up either.

So its ok to risk 1000s of lives so little Johnny doesn't miss a few months of school.

i wonder what the daily numbers would be if they tested every school tomorrow, my guess would be close to 20,000.

I guess in terms of spikes from families meeting. Agree case profile different but still worth looking at. There were spikes in Canada after their Thanksgiving which they celebrate in mid-October.

Because cases will prob rise significantly after Thanksgiving over there and will give RTE reason to push their scaremongering and go on about how restrictions can't be eased for Christmas,George Lee will be salivating at the prospect

So by that logic you reckon we'll have a few hundred thousand cases in the next week or so?

It was not 17 cases within one class. It is 17 cases within 5 separate classes

Cases probably will rise, but my point is that surely America should never be looked at as a country that is comparable to us.

I know all that, I read the stats too

    I just want to know

Why are they doing so well in schools?

Why are they not a driver of spread?

    How are they doing it?

I don't know how the cases are so low there, its like a miracle

Asymptomatic. Same as premier league footballers who get tested and have no clue they have the virus.
