Anyone who thinks we'll be in level 5 before Christmas is utterly delusional

Thanks for that, let's put it up so people don't need to click on the link. I shrunk it a bit but you can still see what it says.

The fact you just said the positivity rate is irrelevant shows you know absolutely nothing about what you're talking about.
Positivity rate is an indicator of spread and volume of disease in the community.
Decreasing positivity rate = decreasing volume in the community.
    Maybe read up on it?

No it is not. It is an indication that the percentage getting tested is falling.

This does not imply that the numbers testing positive is falling.

So soon after xmas intercountry travel (and most likely restaurants) will be banned again. On what basis? Why in the name of god are we putting lockdown plans in place for a period in the future when we have no idea what the virus level will be at. Absolute lunacy, anyone that takes this nonsense seriously needs their heads examined.

Have you not better things to be doing than screenshotting old posts? That's fairly sad, to be fair.
Sounds about right from you though :D

I think you should put your keyboard down at this stage.
Are you alright? What're you so offended about?
The numbers testing positive falling means cases are falling, you're literally contradicting yourself.

If the positivity rate it down it's good news for all. It's possible the positivity rate could fall for a day because a large number of people tested don't have the virus but over a week the positivity rate will tell you exactly where you are at with the virus.

Something the lines of 'Is it worth meeting up with your relatives for Christmas if you're going to be burying them in the new year'

Reminds me of a phrase, ' you have to listen to the rain until you decide to ignore it'.
The sooner obscurity for some of these experts beckons the better.

I didn't go searching for it, somebody else linked to it. I just put up the picture.

So seeing as there was another lockdown does that mean you were delusional?

They're just giving a heads up about what's obviously going to happen after Christmas, since some people don't seem to get it.

You can call the present restrictions what you wish but a lockdown they are not. Construction, schools, manufacturing, significant amount of retail open.
You seem intent on constant point scoring, which achieves what exactly?

You don't know what you're talking about.
You're contradicting yourself, yet I don't know what I'm talking about.
    Cheers.
You should email NPHET to tell them to ignore the positivity rate since you seem to think it's so 'irrelevant'.

It's not a full 'lockdown'. A lot of things that were closed in March are still open. Hardly being enforced. I wouldn't call it a lockdown, more restrictions on non-essential retail and leisure.

Donegal is going to overtake Dublin at this rate. What's the story with Tipperary - cluster?

Fairly certain that's Cork's lowest number in a long long long time

We won't go back into lockdown before Christmas. Even if cases went high, government wouldn't do it. How long we get into January and how severe the lockdown will be is question we should be asking

It is a reasonable assumption to make that when overall test numbers are falling it is because fewer people present themselves with symptoms or are being identified as close contacts. If then within those falling test numbers the positivity rate also drops one can conclude that spread is on the down. No?

Is it 6 only, that is very good

    6 deaths, 226 new cases

Just the 36 backlog cases added in today. Lowest daily case number since September 21st.

I presume most if not all of those 6 deaths was in nursing/care homes?

So we did a 6 week lockdown so we can open retail again (which wasn't even the cause of the spike) and do f all else by the looks of it? What a joke

    Donegal WTF.

I said it weeks ago, but only half in jest, now I'm more serious; Donegal may have to wait out Xmas in level 5
