    Not just that

It's getting the teachers back again another time

Could you explain what you mean by this?

The cheerleaders for Tony Holohan and NPHET miss this point entirely. People treated as robotic beings that should automatically fall in line, and there is virtually no recognition for our sacrifices. None of these experts would relish being in my position, enforced PUP for months. It is demeaning and dehumanising, sure who gives a flying fathom at the top. And then you some resolutely ignorant posters who parrot the party line about having to adhere to the restrictions, these same individuals of course stand to lose nothing.

Recognition ? The sacrifices are to keep people alive and well.. people shouldnt be seeking or needing recognition and a pat on the back for doing their bit....the vast majority can adhere to restrictions and do whats asked, instructed without a flicker of thought like.."well, aint i great"... "ahhh come on, where is my thanks and recognition ?" All very well when this is over... IF the majority of the public continue on a positive and safe path..

Every time i stop at a red traffic light in my car, i dont expect a round of applause from pedestrians.. traffic warden and gardai... its just what you do... whats EXPECTED...in covid times certain behavior adjustments are necessary.

I know it's 2 weeks to day to 1st December but isn't NPHET making its recommendations to government on 26th? That's just over a week's time. And any cases picked up over next week or so could have been seeded a week or 2 before symptoms.

You'd hope level 5 would be eased but maybe it will be a case of NPHET arguing for stricter measures than a modified 3 before easing for Christmas. It's not exactly the update you'd want just over a week out but hopefully numbers decrease over next while. I think reaching a 100 or less cases in 6 weeks was always fairly ambitious.

Unless we hit 150 i can't see NPHET recommending easing restrictions

We were amongst the slowest in Europe to ease restrictions the first time around

NPHET will be even more risk adverse this time around

Up to the government if they can stand up to NPHET again

I 100% agree. Sure, i'm the most positive person here.

But we only remain "best in Europe" with the mitigation measures that are in place.

You don't even have to look far - look 60 miles up the road - to see what happens when incompetence and pandering to the hordes achieves.

Barely disguised contempt, there must be snow atop your lofty perch.

And the sacrifices are also killing people and destroying people's lives.

But sure who cares about them?

I'm beginning to wonder how will Tony and the rest of the 'celebrities' cope with obscurity when this passes. Which it inevitably will.

You have little to be wondering about.

Of 456 cases yesterday, 97 were healthcare workers. 21% of yesterday's cases were healthcare workers.
But the public is at fault.

    Absolutely ****ing scandalous.

How many people have been killed by 'covid sacrifices' ?

If you DO happen to have that number can you compare it to the number of people who have lost their lives due to covid or had lives destroyed or seriously impacted it ?

You know very well that there is no statistic for COVID sacrifices, don't be ridiculous.

Can't see us getting below 150 tbh but would be delighted to be proven wrong. Maybe it comes back to government delaying implementing by 2 weeks, would have given us more time to play with at end of this month instead of going into next month.

Government seem fairly keen to ease restrictions. There's an article in IT which makes it seem issue will be how much restrictions are eased rather than if they're eased at all. Hopefully will be more positive updates over next 10 days though.

Where do you think they picked up the virus?

Nobody has that number because they don't count.

It would raise too many awkward questions as we all know awkward questions aren't flavour of the month with our superiors.

100 healthcare workers simply picked it up out and about? Must be an outbreak in a healthcare worker community or something.

Oh wait, that's called a hospital.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,833 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

What a moronic comparison. Hundreds of thousands of us are out of work, through no choice of our own. Recognition at the very least is warranted for being unwilling sacrificial lambs.

Unwilling ? Fine.. plenty of us are still willing.... to play our parts in keeping people, everybody well, safe and alive... an unwilling sacrificial lamb... right.

Ah sure it was 'community spread' brought it into UHL according to a Limerick gp

    All the peoples fault

I'm not sure if I am reading that right but does it say that 97 health care workers were infected on the 15th?

Conor on twitter is saying that 23% of todays cases are in healthcare workers and 14% of all of November's cases so far.

    is that right?

Had to do a double take and check numbers, hub and etc all say the same.
    Yesterday was 11283 (Gov.ie) https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/20d67-statement-from-the-national-public-health-emergency-team-monday-16-november/
    Today 11380, difference of 97

Hospitals in Dublin never been quieter in November. Yet here we are “increasingly concerned”. Took a lot of people a long time to wise up to the nonsense, finally happening though, despite what this thread thinks.

Is Holohan ever not "increasingly concerned" or "increasingly worried"?

Say the same thing every second day and eventually people will stop listening

188 Staff from UHL all self isolating ebcause they happened to bring it into the hospital from the public?

Even Dr Glynn says that in Limerick the community spread is being caused by Hospital Outbreaks ffs!

Deputy Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Ronan Glynn said a number of outbreaks are contributing to the rise in cases in the county.

"There is a large outbreak linked with the hospital in Limerick and so we are seeing cases in the community linked with that outbreak.

At least the healthcare workers should know about isolating and keeping contacts low so hopefully these clusters will burn themselves out
