And as for the bull****e about hospital workers “picking it up in the community “- if that’s the case why is it not happening with other sets of workers? This is all gone well beyond a very expensive, bankrupting joke at this stage

It is happening in other industries though. Local hospital down home is clear of the virus and but a nurse picked it up. She is on a ward where all patients are tested before they go to the ward

Who is forcing who or is this just rumours?

At the moment this is just rumoured (thankfully) but this could develop further as the weeks and months continue. Who knows what will be decided.

I think we will just see health insurance and travel insurance not covering you for Covid.

Extremely likely. I (used to!) travel a bit with work- I’m fully expecting it to be mandatory to have to take this thing and prove it via documentation

I’ve a problem with both- both are equally ridiculous OTT nanny state rubbish

I have a problem with both as well.

We are bordering on cuckoo land territory for months now. Going into bloody lockdowns with 1 - 2 dying with covid on average per day. All over 80 years of age (good few 88 years on average)

Now word on the street is vaccine compliments our measures. So we are to wear face masks, socially distance, avoid other people, do our quarterly or semi annual vaccinations and WFH indefinitely into the future? For a disease that has 99.8% recovery rate?

Just? That would be a massive departure

I have to laugh at all of the people who think that after this lockdown, Christmas will have been 'saved' and we have successfully flattened the curve for the 1000th time.

Few people outside of this forum realise that this lockdown is going to continue for most of 2021.

Definitely. As I say to people Christmas is just one day- what about all the other Christmasses, what about January even? Can we realistically stay going at this level of madness? Financially, socially and mentally?

Not really, considering the virus is minor and nothing to worry about as ye all stated.

Travel Insurance doesn't cover your hol if you cancel it due to covid already also

I wonder what's going to be the next 'we need to save summer/ Christmas?' 'If we lock down now we can really enjoy 2030?

So is there any other strategy other than closing significant parts of our economy and throwing many of our careers and everything we have worked for under the bus ?

I worked my absolutely a$$ off for 14 years to get in to my trade/career - making absolutely huge financial and personal sacrifices. Now because of this policy of keeping the doors shut and the lights off I am left with no other option than to look at emigration.

Well what’s going to change? These are the things I ask myself and I have to base it on past/present reactions and my conclusion is evidently depressing

What career are you in? Emigration is not an immediate option either. It’s desperate and you have (for what it’s worth) my sympathies- sadly that isn’t shared by the majority cheerleading all this lockdown rubbish

Well so far people have bought into wear the green jersey, save the summer, save Christmas so at this point there's no helping them bar the country going broke

Is this another 1 of those additional measures in addition to masks, vaccines etc.? I see Irish govt pushing this mouthwash law tomorrow. Invest in Listerine I tells ya :pac:

True there’s a sizeable proportion hooked on it. There’s no convincing them with even basic logic and statistics- the whole thing will come crashing down eventually of that I am convinced. Economically, socially or both

Haha so 180 odd hospital staff in Limerick just all happened to pick it up in the community and all being it in to the Hospital?

The lockdown is as good as over. This is a lockdown of businesses and industry only. The majority of people aren’t passing any heed to pointless measures like 5k limit and 0 household rule. The narrative the last few days takes the biscuit though. I was listening to Ray Darcy pontificating earlier about how we need to take a look at our drinking culture after the scenes over the weekend. Guess what, when you close establishments where people can meet and socialise that doesn’t stop the meeting and socialising. All it does is move it from one place to another, in this case out on to the streets and when that’s taken away it will be back indoors in private households.

It’s not proof of a problematic drinking culture; it’s proof that people have had enough and 8 months down the line would like to get back to this thing called living, and aren’t willing to put their lives on hold any longer as they have sacrificed a lot in every area of their lives but the can just keeps being kicked down the road and people penalised further. It’s demoralising. People are absolutely fed up of the pontificating and finger wagging on certain issues but radio silence on other issues that need proper addressing. This country would sicken your hole in all honesty

No Charlie what's very strange is that there is anyone at all who has no problem with their confidenial medical records being shared with commercial entities like concert promoters.

Before March 2020 I didn't know that people as blasé as you are about some of the most basic forms of privacy even existed. Let alone that they could form some kind of societal trend.
