Look at the weather out there. You couldn't pay me to sit out in that no matter how many space heaters you bring in. Opening the pubs for outside pints only is a ridiculous idea. I can see a lot of pubs just not bothering and rightfully so.

If you want to sit out in that shìt and drink "creamy and delicious" pints you need to take a long look at yourself. I'd rather have a heap of the lads over for cans.

Pubs can't open without government go ahead or face fines or loosing there licence so who gives them the go ahead

Hello. Any 'go ahead' will be given by the government, based on a range of criteria and advice. They will also be cognisant that a wide range of beers are available to purchase for home consumption, so their is already a safer alternative to the public house without any additional regulation or incurring of costs.

It's infinitely more dangerous to have a heap of lads over for cans, hence people wanting outdoor options...

Call me a thrill seeker. Lads are coming over for Christmas.

I enjoy a pint and like to support my locals, as I did when they were limited to 15. They are great people and a great laugh was had.

I'm not having a "heap of lads" over as I want to help suppress the spread of the virus during this pandemic. And I hope as many of us make it out the other side for cosy creamy and delicious pints next year.

Hello. I would concur with this clause, and all must be discouraged from taking these type of reckless risks.

The first lockdown saw the doors of my local shut forever.

The food nonsense didn't interest me.

Pubs were tolerable when they got rid of the €9 meal and it was just table service.

But outdoors is a fûcking joke.

Why can’t NPHET close Dublin and Donegal and let the country get on and enjoy their lives as they abide the rules

Because the country folk that love to insult Dublin wouldn't be able to travel from ballygobackwards to their job in Dublin.

It's simple, open all the pubs/restaurants with limited capacity

4 to a table, take details, refuse entry after all tables are full, keep windows open.

Much better than one lad ending up hosting 10 of his mates on the sly,

People are going to be meeting people on the run up to Christmas....the longer they are in structured environments the better than 10 lads crammed into a little sitting room shouting at each other.

Some groups don't want pubs open for Christmas and people will meet in there homes etc without any form of protection from covid they dont care but with pubs open you can control contact etc but how many pubs will reopen some are closed for good and then we will hear the moaning about this pubs gone for good from the do gooders saying they should be open when it's to late staff gone pub closed for good

When the pubs were open before and selling food, it was a good compromise. I wouldn't mind going back to that or something like you describe above as a compromise.

The reality is, people are going to socialise at Christmas in any case and they know this. This is why the lockdown is in place now, to soften the blow of a rise in Covid cases in the New Year.

Let the Vintners make a few quid....... if they want to of course!

Remember when pubs were open with restrictions and a large portion of people, in a weird Trump-like sense of self-delusion, were refusing to acknowledge that they were open at all and missed out on delicious pints?

I wonder would they snap the Govt's hand off at the opportunity to avail of open pubs with those restrictions now?
Not this again, a lot of people consider a pub to be a place where if you want a drink, you get one and not have to pay 9 euro for food you do not want.

And a lot of people consider Michael McIntyre a funny comedian but that doesn't make them right

Except that's not how it works, you can't buy a dozen barriers, 6 portaloos, some industrial heaters and a marquee and hope the council/government will cave because the masses want it.

Pubs have come up with alternatives throughout all this, but it's all for nothing when the government are working off a 5 point plan that is neither 5 points nor a plan......

Of course not you get your lobbying group to push for this alternative.

Just to have the option of dropping in after a walk/shopping/work etc and having a few pints to unwind. A bit of live music and a match is a big plus.

The outdoor drinking element will not work esp in our weather and no number of heaters will help it. Another issue is trying to get in anywhere

A decision will have to be made by the end of next week and lets hope they will give pubs a go. This level 3 then level 2 thing will just cause chaos. 11pm/11.30pm close is acceptable for the very short term

If they can do it in Centeral Europe we can do it here.
Re toilets, regularly cleaned toilets with Uv lights for sterilisation.
    Mask wearing enforced
No toilet use unless you sanitise hands before and after use.
Cleaning after every person so that people won’t destroy public toilets.

This is all very easy to put in place yet I haven’t heard anyone from the pub trade or in public office mentioning these measures.
If they want to open why are they waiting on the government to come up with ideas?!

Because pubs spent loads of money implementing the measures they were told would allow them to open, and then the government repeatedly refused to allow them to open. Why throw more money at it when they're clearly not going to be allowed open anyway?

You could get everyone to wear a spacer around the belly that would keep the distance. Like bumper cars with lights?

Classic case of people just not being able to control themselves. This is why we can't have the pubs open. These are the idiots who ruin things for the rest of us by acting the maggot

Take an isolated occurrence and use that to further your anti-pub agenda. You think this incident is representative of the rest of Ireland? Bollocks. You can stew away at home in December, the rest of us will enjoy our pints regardless.
