Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Munster:
    Mike Haley; Darren Sweetnam, Rory Scannell, Damian de Allende, Matt Gallagher; JJ Hanrahan, Craig Casey;
James Cronin, Kevin O’Byrne, Stephen Archer; Jean Kleyn, Fineen Wycherley; Jack O’Donoghue (C), Tommy O’Donnell, Gavin Coombes.

Replacements: Diarmuid Barron, Josh Wycherley, John Ryan, Billy Holland, Jack O’Sullivan, Nick McCarthy, Ben Healy, Dan Goggin.

    Ospreys:

    15. Mat Protheroe
    14. Luke Morgan
    13. Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler
    12. Keiran Williams
    11. Hanno Dirksen
    10. Stephen Myler
    9. Shaun Venter

    1. Gareth Thomas
    2. Ifan Phillips
    3. Tom Botha
    4. Adam Beard
    5. Bradley Davies
    6. Will Griffiths
    7. Dan Lydiate ©
    8. Gareth Evans

    16. Dewi Lake
    17. Rhodri Jones
    18. Ma’afu Fia
    19. Rhys Davies
    20. Olly Cracknell
    21. Matthew Aubrey
    22. Josh Thomas
    23. Scott Williams

John Hodnett's likely season ending injury means TOD starts at 7. John Ryan is on the bench having been released by Ireland. After an excellent showing at fullback against Dragons, Matt Gallagher moves onto the wing.

Ospreys arrive in Limerick with a poor season to date under their belts, with a surprise loss at Zebre last week a particular low point.

Munster should expect a full return from tomorrow.

Scrap that, I see there is already a match thread open https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2058131996

You must expect Munster to overpower Ospreys quite comfortably, and perhaps de Allende to break his duck...and Gallagher to have a massive impact today

  • Posts: 0 Talia Odd Lapel

Providing Munster do the minimum today and come away with 4 points, that will leave them 7 points clear of Scarlets with a game in hand.

Not a bad position to be in this early in the campaign after beating the main conference rivals already.

I would personally be happy with 4 points and no injuries this early in the season. Munster would be 7 clear of Scarlets with a game in hand if that's how it plays out.

Munster will absolutely hammer them...I expect a 25 point win ... Munster have a bench that will turn the screw in the second half...

Just posting here to make sure this is the thread used for the match.

Given Ospreys season to date and the Munster selection, I'd say a comfortable home win with BP unless there's horrible weather.

Will hopefully see something more from DDA today. He has gone well thus far and shown glimpses of his talent but I certainly don't see the best 12 on the planet there yet.

    Block on Coombes?

Kleyn broke Bradley Davies. Massive hit.

    incredibly sloppy try to concede.

    Block on Coombes?

Would have liked to have seen it again. Lydiate looked to change his line to give him a shove

Anyone else having trouble getting the EirTV app to cast this to a streaming device, a ChromeCast in my case?
Currently watching the match in low-res chunk-o-vision on TG4 :(

Seemed very similar to a try Munster got early in the season, with Haley offloading setting up the counter attack (can’t quite remember against who?).

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭theVersatile

    Strong stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

    Better! Good attrition and power

Casey needs to be more demanding so he can get it quicker

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 251 ✭✭Paul Weller

Nice try by Coombes, and great to see TOD taking the ball into contact at least 3 times in that move

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,871 ✭✭✭budhabob

    Coombes is a powerful man!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 10,617 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

Jean Kleyn seems to have stolen TOD’s scrum cap.

Opened up for Haley there. Think he’ll be favoured over Daly come the the bigger games.

It's men against boys in the scrum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,871 ✭✭✭budhabob

Smart kick by scannell there. Great having his boot out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,871 ✭✭✭budhabob

The Ospreys back 5 are dangerous in open play, serious pace out of them.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 10,617 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

Their FB has some pace. DDA has been so good for us in rucks like that this season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 251 ✭✭Paul Weller

That's twice the left winger and FB cut thru us...lessons have to be learned

TOD having a fine game so far

Apart from the Ospreys back three, they're offering not much.
Good half from Munster, two glaring errors in the red zone but very good besides that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

yep, Ospreys fairly useless up front....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 251 ✭✭Paul Weller

Have to agree... TOD putting his head into places you shouldn't.... having a fine game... Coombes showing pace, skill and strength...surely an international cap won't be far away if he keeps on this upward trajectory

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Our maul has been great today

Yeah, quietly going about business. I hope he gets an injury free run.

Coombess does seem a special talent, massive engine on him... speed and power... just needs more back of the scrum practice I suppose.....
that first ty was a thing of beauty though, and the chase after that kick from Scannell (I think) he was keeping pace with Sweets..

Coombes will be pushing for European starts with how he’s been going this season.

On a side note tho, I think it’s the first time I’ve ever seen an all female commentating team, even down to Jenny Murphy on the sideline. Fair play, TG4.

Did the Ospreys player get a yellow card?

    Yes

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,641 ✭✭✭Dog Botherer

Nice of the Ospreys to basically give up 1 minute into the second half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,845 ✭✭✭shootermacg

    That boy can kick!

Casey's had a couple of pointless boxkicks in the match, playing very well otherwise

Stupid early call by the ref, incompetent officiating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,189 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Welsh Rugby is in a really bad place isn't it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 251 ✭✭Paul Weller

The ball was down before the whistle there imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

    Plank of a ref.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,597 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

    This is farcical

The ref shouldn't have blown his whistle so fast, it's the ref getting himself directly involved in the game

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭theVersatile

    Joke decision

Stupid early call by the ref, incompetent officiating.
It wasnt. tbf he was perfectly positioned and TMO confirmed it..

Too easy for Coombes to score.

    Deserved try eventually scored.
    The young no.8 again

The tmo confirmed the whistle was blown too soon.
    What would you call it?
