So VW dealer helps him get into a BMW?
Hard to see what m135i offers over what he has to be honest. Less practical and will lose a ton more money in depreciation. Nicest Cupra I have seen.

    It's a SEAT dealer.

Yeah I don't disagree with you. He's just a lad who likes to chop cars on a fairly regular basis, logic doesn't always come into it.

I'd say he's not overly bothered about depreciation......... all considered the Cupra was incredibly well specced, upgraded and looked after :)

Good to see a decent lash of miles being put on something like that

Did you ever drive the cupra Joe?
If so what’s the verdict. Looks like a lovely example.
The recent vrt changes have killed these type of cars with price increases.
I saw the new cupra Formentor is 57k now but will be 64k in January due to vrt.

LOL at the money the M3 and are going to sell for, seriously... LOL!

I did. We did a trip to the Nurburgring last year and I had a few spins in it (on the autobahn - not on the Ring!).

Its a really lovely example and he has some very tasteful mods on it such as the Clubsport-S brakes, upgraded OEM wheels and a retrimmed alcantara steering wheel. The dash is arguably nicer than that in the equivalent MK7 Golf as the digital dials are much more customisable and the seats are far more special. It shifts very well too... its essentially the Golf R with more space.

He needed a buyer who appreciated it for what it is, and fortunately it sounds like he's found one. BMW dealers weren't interested in it of course and traders just low balled.

You'd need more money than sense to spend 125k on an M4. The things you could buy for that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭Wailin

True, but spending circa 90k on an m440i is just as bad, if not worse.

The pricing of the m3/m4 is in line with It's rivals, amg c63 and rs5, bearing in mind they are older models and well down on power.

But if you had 125k to spend on a car you'd probably already have those things!

Haha I more meant the other cars I would buy for that, you could bring in a GT3 for that sort of money.

Why the surprise, the M3 has always been this kind of money? What's crazy is the M4 coupe starts at $69k in the USA. Kinda mental how unobtainable many BMWs are on their home continent.

I worked in a bmw dealership in 03-05 and I think I remember an m3 csl for well over 120k sitting outside my office. And a 645i for over 140k. I myself had an e39 530i with a new price of 75k and an e60 523i specced to 67k when new. I don't think they're much dearer than that now. I believe there were higher rates of vrt in them then than now so maybe pre tax prices have risen

Yep BMWs got cheap(er) when the greens changed the vrt on diesels I remember my old man paid 60 in 05 for a boggo 520d same thing was 45 two years later but the petrol stuff was always expensive. An m3 was always pushing 90/100k back in the day of the e46 iirc.

Interesting take on the M340i here, would be hard to justify another 50k for the M3 unless you are seriously into tracking it regularly. Seems to be a better balance of being a decent performance car and daily driver which I'd image would suit most folks most of the time.

This is like Joe's pal's car Drunkmonkey.
Might suit better than the ID3?

I think 37k is stupid money to pay for a 191 Leon Cupra. Speaking as an owner of a 192 Leon Cupra.

Having driven both kinds a Leon Cupra and a Leon Cupra 4 drive are very different cars hence why the 4 drive makes more there isn’t too many of them about.

Considering the massive spec and nice mods on the particular car I think 37 is reasonable enough.

Mine has the same spec and mods don’t add any value in my view, in fact they take value away.

      Guess that’s the key part.

Depends on the mods i suppose. Stupid stuff certainly takes value off.
The big brake kit fitted to the car being discussed is certainly worth paying if one is so inclined.
Id generally agree that anything not a factory option will likely devalue a car.

Generally, I think you’re right but in this case the guy who bought it really valued the mods, he wanted them. It depends on the car, the mods (the more OEM+ the better imo) and the buyer.

People complaining about the price of the new m3 have a look at this! Stunning car, not mad on the wheels, but that price is just lunacy.

Is it even new or is it a used car?
Says approved used in 2 places on the ad. I know its not really a second hand car but is it a pre reg demo? Hardly think they'd do that

    8. Posts: 18,089 ✭✭✭✭ [Deleted User]

201 reg anyway...... Must be some miles on it .... Add says it's diesel :pac:

Kearys site also has no mileage detailed, not applicable.

Does anyone know when next model 5 series is out, next after g30?

I know current model just got facelift so probably not for another few years? Current model seemed to be out ages, but only 5 years? So probably another 3 for new model maybe

The reason I’m asking is I have an f10 due to change over coming years but g30 doesn’t seem like a significant enough upgrade so will wait for next model, don’t need to change for another 3 years or so

M2 CS is scary money everywhere, probably made worse by our crazy car taxes.
I wonder though how Kearys ended up with that for stock?
Do BMW make dealers take a number of high end cars into stock or something or else a cancelled order? They could be looking at it for a long time.

I see on youtube that both Joe Achilles and Shmee have ordered new M3's.
Sweetheart deals for youtubers no doubt.

Yea I saw a youtuber saying that English BMW dealers will give you an M3 for c.500 a month if you've got 100k subscribers.

Yeah I saw that too. JA has a 50 min video up where he’s mulling over the options and what he can/can’t afford so it would appear he’s paying for it... he’s always plugging that particular dealership though.

      Shmeee is on another planet.

I had a F10 for a couple of years and had a rental G30 for two months last year. I actually think the G30 is a massive step up from the F10. The interior is just way ahead and I couldn’t get over how economical the new car was. The current 5 series is a seriously impressive car even in a 520d.

Maybe if Mark keeps adding subscribers BMW Ireland would let him have a 116i for similar money to what the U.K. guys pay for their M3’s
