    Not good

Still down week on week and incidence still reducing. Not all bad to be fair now.

    We should be lower :(

    RIP the 6

Yeah weekly average probably about 350 given the low numbers early in the week.
Most counties getting nice and low but others still seem to be getting outbreaks. Hard to know what the best approach is now and from Dec 1st.

    Yes that's true

Lot of work to do for 2 weeks time though

What is going on down in Waterford?

Some of the border counties aren't as bad there today as I'd have expected.

Donegal still stubbornly high then you've some weird ones, waterford and Tipperary to name just two, assuming some decently sized clusters in these areas ?

One of the most tragic cases to come out of this pandemic was actor Nick Cordeo, when I want to be reminded how lethal covid can be, I think Cordeo's case always comes back me, diagnosed positive in March he was hospitalised on 30th and spent 3 months in hospital, he had to get his right leg amputated in April 18th due to a blood clot caused by the virus and in May he had to get a tracheostomy as his lungs were affected and he finally kicked the bucket in July 5th at the age of 41. To me anyway, that was a bloody long stretch in hospital and he has to be one of the most unluckiest victims of this virus. So yep I taking this bloody vaccine, saying that, that is a real worse case scenario regarding Cordeo.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Hell of a difference from where we were a few weeks ago. Personally I thought 100 was very ambitious in just 6 weeks.

    Very disappointing figures. Especially Dublin.

We appear to have stopped making progress. I imagine this is down to good news in the vaccine front and Christmas approaching

What is going on down in Waterford?

Apparently its to do with a factory down here but its not confirmed 100%

At the end of the day even with ~350 cases per day we're seeing fairly significant reductions in hospitalisations, which is the most important thing.

It'll be some work to get it down to a 100 or less by the end of the month.

What is going on down in Waterford?

A good chunk linked to a factory (Cartimundi) apparently.

Guards also broke up a house party of 50 recently, so that might not be helping either.

Vaccine news was only at the start of this week, wouldn't have any influence on numbers being seen today.

The vaccine news came out 5 days ago, there's no way that could have shown up in the numbers already

Yes I think so but going to be hard to keep at level 5 in December

The economic costs could be huge

Might explain some of Waterfords cases https://twitter.com/Deisesupes/status/1327318273407508482

Ah here how on earth is that still happening

Obviously the pubs are almost entirely to blame for the recent bump in case numbers. Close them all down.

    Oh wait.

Or we've reached the limit of what L5 will achieve when you have an open border with the North, no legally enforced restrictions on visitors from abroad, and compared to March far more businesses & schools open.

The stuff with factories is beyond ridiculous at this stage

Not a chance of been below 100 cases by 1st December. Drop in numbers has slowed to a point were it has flattened. I wonder how much the schools played a part. But very disappointing all round.

388 positive swabs today, but 456 cases?

We cant stay in level 5 forever. Last few days definite cause for concern.

Be interesting to see the HPSC report on Monday/Tuesday about cluster data. Should point fairly clearly to where the cases are coming from.

Easier to do when the vaccines are on the way.

Maybe level 4 Dec 1st is the best people can hope for if no big improvement next few weeks.

People refusing to wear masks have been thrown off planes and rightly so

Looking like little tbh, the cases in school going age groups are all down as per HPSC data.

National death and new case numbers/7 Day/14 Day and percentage averages since the introduction of Level 5 on October 22nd

Today is the first day since October 22nd that the 7 day average of new cases has increased albeit at a small number, I wouldn't panic over it but I wouldn't spin it either to say it's anything other than disappointing 3+ weeks into Level 5
