Have really been enjoying PES2020 now that I've moved exclusively to 1v1 or 2v2 "friendlies" with mates. 4 way Whatsapp call in parallel is great craic. It negates a lot of the dodgy AI defending.

However, the UI is shocking. Make a single mistake in setting up the game or someone loses connection and there's no way to get back without going through the Xbox HomeScreen (not sure what it's called) unless I'm missing something?

Is there any way to make a room persist so that we don't have to go through the set up palaver every time or to set up a best of 3 type scenario??

Also, any way to turn off the slew of updates that come through when you start the game? Very annoying.

Only just getting into this game this week on PS4. I have a couple of friends to play online. Is Team Lobby the right place to go for 2v2 or 2v1 matches?

Also is there a way to set up a private league between us?

Thanks and sorry if this has been covered before!

Hey lads, just bought this game over the weekend for €6 on the PS store. I saw on twitter that there are 'legend' download packs available (tweet below). Just a few questions - how do you download these on the ps4? Does one pack cover all of the clubs, countries, kits, crests etc. or do you've to download multiple?

Then once these are downloaded, what game modes can you use these in?

You’ve to download them onto a USB stick and put them into a folder named WEPES. You can then import them via the in game edit mode.

There’s plenty of “how to” videos on YouTube. It’s fairly straight forward tbh.

That's really cool, would you be able to play with these teams online (like in Online Divisions)?

Pretty much only play online so prob wouldn't bother with the hassle of downloading them if I couldn't use them online, but looks like it'd be great fun to play with those classic teams

You'll have all the kits etc.. for online.

Online squads have to be the standard official PES ratings so you can't take those classic players into seasons.

Offline you can do what you like. Set up a classic master league.

I did it a while ago. I tried to put as many of the legends onto the teams they started out with and see where it went. Was a bit of craic.

Just be aware that lots of those legends aren't official so their faces will be..... Well unofficial :D

Tip for anyone fed up of conceding free kick goals against the computer. If you press L1 and R3 you take control of the keeper. As the player is running up to hit the free kick, just move the goalie a little closer to the side where they’re going to hit it. Instead of them putting it in the net 8/10, you’ll have an easy catch.

    Hi Lads,

Anyone interested in joining in for 10 v 10 games, we've a discord community growing with individual leagues that started on boards for PS4. Recently we've started a 10 v 10 team of Irish lads. If anyone is interested let me know !
It's good craic ! Loads of lads here involved already ! If you want to join in let me know here

What difficulty do you guys play master league on? Currently on Superstar and tend to come about 3rd in the league but finding it really frustrating and not particularly fun as the computer seems to cheat seemingly being able to foul with things like body checks and get away with it and scoring with their only shot on goal all game. Thinking of dropping it down a level to Top Player which actually seemed a bit more fun trying to break down a team as opposed to having the computer intercept every forward pass.

So there we go its confirmed we wont be getting a new pes this year only a ''Season update''

    https://www.footyheadlines.com/2020/06/pes-2021-to-be-released-as-digital-season-update.html

Dunno how i feel about that to be honest as the gameplay seems to of gotten worse as its went on this year. Hopefully they can patch in a few changes and it wont be to expensive to update the game. Otherwise option files will do for another year!

Just pulled Greenwood last week and leveled him up to 91. Why the feck did I not so this sooner. He is an absolute machine. Best Striker I used all year

Are many people planning on picking up the season update, or just sticking with 2020?.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,320 ✭✭✭v3ttel

    Picking it up, definitely.

The pre-order club editions for PES21 season update are a bit annoying though.

The iconic moments players you get for Barca & Juve are better than for United & Bayern. I'm a United fan, but if you pre-order the Juve edition you get an iconic moments Ronaldo (same with Barca & Messi). As much as I'd love to have an iconic moments Beckham, he's surely not going to be as effective as iconic moments Ronaldo or Messi. For Bayern, you get Kahn (again, another legend but would rather have anything other than a goalie).

I had the cross specialist Beckham in 20 and he was so good I just had to completely change how I played to accommodate him. Ended up switching to an old fashioned 442. He was also 100 rated at DMF.

I'm getting the Barca edition though. A 19 year old Messi that goes up to 103 is too tempting. The iconic moments Ronaldo is a waste I think. He is 35 and he will have an equally good or better featured player versions out regularly and maybe a few player of the week versions.

Where do you see what levels they are / can be leveled up to?

    PESHUB app.

Messi is 102 at RWF, 101 at AMF and SS, and 100 at CF, and with the ICON boost active he is +1 in all positions. Also the icon version of Messi is a creative playmaker and not a roaming flank.

Ronaldo is 98 at LWF and 99 at CF, and with ICON boost active he is +2 in both positions.

Beckham is 99 at RMF and DMF, and 98 at CMF, and with ICON boost active he is +2 at RMF and DMF, and +1 at CMF.

Just from an admin point of view, is there any use in creating a new thread for PES 2021 or would it just make more sense to rename this thread to PES 2020/2021 or similar?

It's just a season update after all so no new gameplay changes

By the way, I'm sure some of you have heard me mention my Boards League on PS4 and a lot of you have probably played in it over the last few years. Well we are just finished our last league of PES 2020 and had 27 competitors in a EURO 2020 style league.

I will be running another league in PES 2021 but this post isn't just about the league.

I have now built a community over on Discord of 35 or so Irish PES players (likely the largest Irish community around) and we have now started playing Team Play on PES (PES version of Pro Clubs) whereby you pick a fixed player and control them for the game.

What we didn't realise was that there are probably 100 teams out there who play 10v10 from the likes of Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Iran, Qatar etc. We have entered into a 10v10 league which starts on 1 October but still on the lookout for recruits.

We currently actually have 2 teams with 13 players on each but I'm just mad to keep the Irish community growing.

We will be doing an inter community match on live stream at some stage in aid of charity and I would also like to do a last man standing style tournament whereby the winner gets a football jersey of choice and all proceeds once again go to charity.

Message me anyway if you want any more details

I picked up a copy of the main game this week. Was a massive PES head during the Ps1 and Ps2 era but haven't played a football game in years. What option file is best nowadays? I'd especially like to get one with classic teams/kits.

  • Registered Users Posts: 532 ✭✭✭Turquoise Hexagon Sun

Haven't bought a football game since FIFA 18, essentially rage quitted and haven't touched one since. But I'm getting the urge to get one, especially since the new consoles are out and I have a Series X.

PES is looking better than it's ever had.

Is there still no option file or Xbox? Can anyone confirm that the options files don't work on Series X?

Personally - As someone who has been PES since International Superstar Soccer, I've never been as down on a series.

This year is just a data update from last year (no aesthetic/gameplay changes). At least they were honest about it though.

The game is very, very buggy and would maybe suggest waiting for next year's version to not let this one put you off! The price is fine though.

I don't know.. seems like a good game to re-enter to the series. I mean I haven't played PES Since PES 2008. But what differentiates it from FIFA, seems to be there. The gameplay just seems uncripted and "random" from want of a better word. Like in FIFA, you'll see the same type of goal scored over and over. But PES, it just seems more realistic and less about falling into scripts and habbits.

Having said that, you've been playing every title since ISS. And for me, I've casual player, looking to get into a football game again. It's going to be easier to impress me since the whole things is super fresh to me again.

In comparison to FIFA, its lightyears ahead of it in gameplay. Has its flaws but its a good game to get back into it.

PES 2022 will be the first game built for the next gen consoles and will be using a new game engine also. Looking forward to that

Also, there's no option files on Xbox unfortunately

Ah.. interesting. so new engine for next-gen? Nice. So, I might just pick this year's refresh title up to practice and get back in the swing of it. I remember there was a light version on Game Pass. I wonder if Xbox will have a deal with Konami again to get it on Game Pass.

I'm disappointed there's no choice to use option file or Xbox. However, I might actually have fun editing the teams. I'm sure I'll have a sense of achievement after. And maybe I might get into making some unique designs too. Trying to remain positive, lol

What's the general consensus on PES vs FIFA? I just tried out FIFA 20 and PES 2020 on Game Pass. The gameplay in PES is better in my opinion. In PES, it feels like teams play like their real life equivalents, both in terms of player abilities and tactics, if that makes sense. FIFA feels more generic, and the pitch feels smaller too.

I can barely even watch the gameplay on Fifa at this stage, it looks and feels awful compared to PES, doubt I'll ever go back to Fifa tbh. PES gameplay is so far ahead its unreal.
