Hypothetically, at what level of death would you take it seriously?

at what level of death would you think restrictions are not required?

He literally didn’t say that at all though did he?

He specifically said protect the elderly.

Yes but there's zero posts on this thread suggesting any practical way how to do it. So at the end it comes to let it rip through..which is impossible cuz you would fcùk up healthcare. Simple.

You don't know how to use the word literally

It all started with just one case. Mind blowing but true ;)

    I do.
If we chase the numbers you are looking for, the ATMs will literally have no money in them.

    The country will collapse.

Did you call for this when the flu was killing people?

Or was virtue signaling not a trendy thing back then?

The flu has a vaccine, seriously, spoon feeding.

I don't like virtue signalling either

Your next argument will involve road accidents or some other unavoidable risk won't it?

"Will literally"....that is some serious certainty.

    Fully agree.

Lost jobs, lost incomes, lost homes, lost businesses is the sad reality for many.

Except for who you’re replying to. There isn’t any financial impacts there i can tell you. Not to mention the huge lack of empathy.

But people die from the flu as a result of us not restricting our movements and interactions.

Do those deaths not mean anything?

A premature death of the primary earner in a family is a loss of earning capacity worse than any redundancy.

All those 88 year old primary earners...

They mean more than your argument yes.

Of course there is no way to fully shield every single person in a demographic.

But we could easily do a media campaign advising elderly to stay indoors when possible and remind them using stats that they are the ones at risk of getting very sick and potentially dying.

We could have 2 hours a day were supermarkets only allow over 60s in.

We could advise people to help their elderly family members with online shopping or going for them if possible.

There are lots of solutions available. But we’d rather put half a million out of work.

No they didnt matter to nofools because there was no internet forum for him to spend his weekend on arguing with people.

Lots of anger in their posts. I hope they realise stress and Covid are not a great combination.

Jaysus is this thread still playing the only dangerous/fatal for the elderly card?

You should just setup a private group for your echo chamber club, easier for you and a lot easier for everyone else not having to read it.

Would hate to upset you all with a bit of daylight

    More than likely.

Still i note they are safe at home, on boards and not out living life, riding, sky diving or partying.

This is a great point. Colds and flus spread every year and kill the elderly. Why no outrage in 2017 for example?

    Interesting.

When did HSE amend things so that those with existing conditions (cancer, transplant recipients, pregnancy etc) aren't affected?

    More amusement than anger.

I am at peace that some people have a limited grasp of how the world around them works

Odd those "facts" also list diabetes, heart conditions, obesity etc.

So thanks for that seems just the usual case of not getting past a headline.

Have a look at the stats. It clearly shows what demographic are likely to die.

We are still at the point non of the government in Europe will overflow their healthcare voluntarily. All of your suggestions are already there and do they work, nope. Ireland's healthcare is fcuked as it is, even without pandemic, so you can imagine all the boys in power are shītting their pants. So there's response we have, prolonged restrictions without the end, unless we have vaccine or effective treatment.

    Hi P

One of the main problems here is the words "in this country"...we have done a good job relatively, probably in an overly draconian way but now the low figures invite some serious conspiracy theory type thinking from those who just don't get the bigger picture and are easily swayed by simple stories and have already fallen down one path and refuse to budge as things change.

It is arrogant to think we can't be hit as bad as elsewhere in Europe and complacency is the enemy.

No to worry i’m sure the noble one “nofools” will be back on boards post -covid proposing we should implement restrictions every future flu season.

Stop talking rubbish and jumping to conclusions. Like you did about my financial situation. Badly hit by covid. Nobody likes restrictions. There is a vaccine for flu and certainty around it.

No convincing arguments so you get personal or make these stupid strawmen.

I did read past the headline, I also remember you getting upset when I stated on another thread that obseity worsens the potential outcome from Covid.
It's a fact Covid affects the elderly more so than those under 60. I can post you multiple links to demonstrate this I could even post a link from the early days of Nphet stating who the virus was most dangerous for. Somehow I think you already know most of these facts just unwilling to accept them.
