This thread is so quiet lately, are people just fed up with it at this stage, same at work, ever since level 5 came in, people are like ya whatever I couldn't give a **** what nphet and the government say anymore, ill just do the things I'm supposed to do. I was getting angry and frustrated when level 5 came in but I honestly not too bothered with the whole thing anymore and it seems its evident by this thread.

Yes I think there’s a bit of all of that. I mean there’s only so long you keep hearing about covid and the numbers(that’s not to say people aren’t taking it seriously) before people check out from the daily talk of it.

Its fatigue/acceptance of the whole thing. People can now accept that the alternative of herd immunity and hospitals just being overrun just isint worth it. Personally I have found this lockdown period much harder

I think this plus the US election has diverted posters attention. But like you say, most people are just getting on with it, not really dwelling on it but generally doing the best they can.

Also while I think the government want us to think we're all in level 5 people have realised its nowhere near a lockdown so they don't feel as confined or housebond as in the spring.

Definitely has mine. Haven't paid any heed to covid figures this week

I think RTÉ highlighting that even if everything goes to plan that cases will start rising again in mid Jan was a turning point.

I think some naive people thought that lockdown could prevent Covid.

People are starting to realise that we can’t hide forever.

All virologists are also political analysts, so it's been a busy few days.

County numbers not making a lot of sense to me, Dublin seems to be around 170 usually except on days like today when it's lower by 100.

Of the five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance I guess we’re in the last one. I know I’ve felt each of those over the past several months.

I just find it so difficult to be an expert virologist and political expert at the same time.

Numbers are good but one concerning thing to note is that average age is still increasing.
The much vilified under 25s case percentage falling quickly while over 65s increasing.

It's good to have a distraction from the ongoing COVID situation.

Ah, you're taking me wrong Jim. We all see it from our own perspective. But if you are following the restrictions you won't meet people who aren't.

Not strictly true. We live rural and the past two weekends can't even get parking at some of the forestry areas around our way. The world and its mother would appear to be day tripping well beyond their 5km restriction. Cars parked illegally making the roads around a hazard. I believe from social media that a fair whack of them were hit with fixed penalties recently.

Not that getting out and about in the country air with the kids is a bad thing in the current climate, but there is massive non compliance here. To be honest walkers and families with kids etc are ok, people tend to keep their distance. My own personal experience is that two cohorts in particular are a menace in terms of not respecting the two metre guideline and these are cyclists and joggers, who it would appear to me, simply refuse to travel in single file when passing others by.

A split second passing by won't do anything to anyone, but I suppose we all need something to rant about.

    Who is ranting?

Numbers are going down, there's a date in 3 1/2 weeks we have our eye on so a lot of indifference. If we don't see a change then people may pay more attention. There is little to be learned from all these too early to say comments coupled with attaboy praise.

Nope they are realising that we can't really "live with it" all that much

Will they be doing a genotype test?

Just tell the Department of Agriculture cows can get it and I guarantee you there would be tests at airports and quarantines by Monday morning. Seems humans are far more expendable.

The department licenses the mink too

And the minute they start to rise the schools will be blamed

As soon as things reopen in December the numbers will jump they should have limited access to shops rather than shut it off as the mass influx of people will have interesting effects. But they're incharge and we do as we are told, Republic of Ireland 2020

Kinda makes you think of DPRK or The People's Republic of China

Of course other people are to blame.

Plenty of spread is innocent but plenty of it is not.

Barring someone coughing on you, it's all innocent.

So with these cases in Mink I was reading that cases have being found in cows...

so people can pass covid to cows(cattle) but their is no evidence that it can pass back to people anyone else following this?

100% this. After a few weeks of Level 5 most people seem to be just taking it as it comes.

I think after 8 months we're well and truly in the acceptance stage.

The weather is really not helping . No comparison to days in the garden and jobs to catch up on etc
