Just saw the Digne tackle on MOTD.

Not intended at all, but intent was written out of the laws years ago for tackles, and replaced with terms like 'lack of consideration' and 'reckless'.

I doubt it will be overturned.

He literally did nothing but run.

    Agreed.

But his running ended up with his studs on the ankle of the player in front of him.

I might be wrong about it not being overturned. In fact, in a way, I hope I am, as I do think it's tough for a player to get sent off for something they didn't mean at all.

But I don't think it will be, as they only look at outcome, not intent (which they can never really know anyway).

Well football is full of running, I geninely don't know what else he's meant to do there.

I just saw Depays message on his top when he scored. What the hell? Is this a thing now?

    I thought it was photoshopped

    I despise that sh!te. He hasn't died.

It's like when Neymar got injured in the 2014 World Cup and they were holding up his jersey.

He could have ran to either side of him but he decided to take him out of the game. It's funny how all these disgusting tackles from Everton players are "accidents".
Pathetic rubbish as usual from Ancelotti after the game. Hopefully referees are wise to Evertons tactics now.

He could wave his hands in the air in warning but not put his foot anywhere other stand on his ankle

I always thought the hands in air was to indicate they're not pulling the jersey show the ref knows a player dives. I thought it was quite common?

Why would he 'decide' to run either side of him. He didn't take him out of the game intentionally ffs. It's clear as day what happened.

About ten steps early he tried to trip him as well so he may well have been trying to trip him again and got it wrong he raked his achilles while doing it and that is wreck-less even if it wasn't intentional.

He stood on him he didnt rake his ankles im not sure you know what raking is if you think that is it.

Also its nigh on impossible to rake someone while running at that speed, while they are running at that speed.

I seen what he tried to do originally, but i'm just saying that what he was sent off for is an absolute joke.

With all due respect, where the fck else is it to bring up? The Liverpool thread?

I have no idea other than I assume international teammate's. It's extremely cringe imo. I don't recall off hand other instances of international team mates doing this for someone.

More cringe on Depay than anyone else

    Are you serious?

His international Captain has been injured by an atrocious challenge and will miss an entire season (and maybe the euros) and you think a message of support ojna t-shirt is cringe?

Maybe you are succumbing to the tribalism as around here Shano.

    Bad form.

Yes, It's cringe. I tend to associate it with something more serious than a football injury but that's just my opinion.

Usually it's used as a platform for making awareness of serious issues. Or the goalscorer scoring when his child is born with a message to his child(But that's long gone I think, since the yellow card thing came in)

Why not just message VVD support? It's like when someone post something on FB and wants the appreciation it's cringe.

All things said n done, I'm of the opinion that if you have played the soccer then you'd see that the Digne red is not a red. Also at that speed, to be so accurate, errrmm yeah.

After Dennis Irwin retired he did a spot of analysis. His opinion on this sort of stuff was if you're in any doubt about it .. it was meant. Pros know exactly where they're planting their feet.

I was more alluding to why bother post it at all ,you think it's cringe coz it's about vvd ,and that implicates your club in a way.. if it were about someone else in the league and didn't you wouldn't have put it here ,so yea..

Why bother if you didn't want to stir something.

I literally explained why I think it's cringe. I'm pretty sure when Mendy was injured City team wore training tops with his name on them? Also cringe

'Implicates your club in a way' - Mate I don't care, I don't get into that politics side of football.

If it where about someone else it wouldn't be half as much a talking point. It's been a massive talking point so I brought it up.

It's utterly bizarre how every time someone says anything against Liverpool this gets brought up about being bias and stirring.

    I've explained it.

    It's his international Captain.

What a ****ing bizarre thing to take issue with

Note to future self; Never say something is cringe considering the backlash

It's strange. You seem more outraged at a public show of support from a teammate than the cowardly tackle itself.

I trust we will see you regularly taking issue with tweets expressing support from now.on too.

Talk about being dramatic. Outraged? I literally said it was cringe haha. How is that outrage?

I already made my points plenty of times regarding the tackle. I made it very very clear what I think of it. Would you like me to re-iterate?

Tweets of expressing yeh they're cringe to as it's public but they're pretty frequent I think? Lifting up your jersey to get yellow carded to show support for an ACL injury? Not so frequent. I just checked and he didn't get carded so not sure if the law is different there.

I thought lifting up your Jersey/taking it off was a yellow card offense or did that change?

Are you deliberately pushing the tee-shirt message thing because everyone remembers Liverpool players wearing tee-shirts to support a racist?

    Oh Shano Shano you rogue...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,428 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

in our defence when we wore those t-shirts we didn't know he was racist.
Poor Shano, rough week. Liverpool fans will get over this in 8 or 9 years
    probably

    Fair point.

It wasn't crime of the century...just a bad call.
