A point away to West Ham next Saturday and the reigning Champions will go top of the table

That's Southampton into 5th. A great team to watch.

That’s probably as much of a reality check as Friday’s result.

Great result, everton feeling the effects of their big game last week.

What the bejesus is he up to here?

Like, even if it's a complete accident, what's he actually trying to accomplish? He's running directly straight up behind the man, the one position you can do absolutely nothing from.

It was no accident- he didn’t get him the first 2 bites he had so he made sure the 3rd time.

Newcastle and United in their next games without Richarlison and Digne, they'll have to be in fighting form to kick on from this.

Fighting and kicking is what got them into this in the first place.

watch the whole clip, Digne runs at top speed to try catch him, KWP moves slightly across him, digne slows to try not to run into the back of him and steps on his trailing foot, he has only directly behind him because KWP did the smart thing to move across him as Digne was catching him

The two ex pro's in the Sky studio think that the red card should be overturned. I agree with that, harsh decision.

    100%.

It’s clear as day that wasn’t intentional.

Negative on that, stats don't back that up unfortunately. Carry on.

    Never a red card.

I've only seen the short gif on last page.

Will reserve judgement until see the preceding seconds but looks very bad.

Considering the outrage I was expecting something infinitely different from what actually happened, it will rightly be overturned on appeal.

Alan Smith said Digne could have "no complaints" in fairness.

I'm not sure that wasn't intentional. Putting your hands up but still standing on your opponents Achilles are contradictory actions. He's a professional footballer so he should know where his feet are. I know he wasn't looking down to see where his foot was landing but Fred Astaire didn't need to look down either to know where his feet were.

He also said something along the lines of "The intent was there when if he didn't intend it". Speaks volumes about the number of brain cells available there.

Ah look, you said the two sky ex-pros thought it wasn't a red but another guy covering the game said the opposite.

Just providing the balance without questioning anyone's number of brain cells

Its a bit clumsy but it doesn't look like it was intentional imo, both running at full pelt and its a tangle rather than an outright attempt to hurt.

SLO mo replays shouldn’t be allowed. This micro analysis of everything is bollóx. In this instance a slo mo makes it look worse like he put his foot there whereas the reality is when watched at normal pace he was going full pelt attacker pulled across him and the contact happened. Definitely accidental. It happens.

The guys in the studio had time to look at it, Smith was going off what he saw and a quick replay and came out with a contradictory statement.

I'll give his incorrect opinion a bye ball but his comment didn't make sense.

In saying that, I'll be surprised if it's overturned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,153 ✭✭✭✭eh i dunno

It's not a red card even though it looks bad but all Liverpool fans think its a red card after last week. Everton will appeal it but to be honest the young lad they signed nkounkou looks a better player going forward than Digne.

Everton can't have too many complaints after that, ill-discipline again plain to see. Definite red card. 2-0 flattered them tbh. Southampton impressive.
