It’s a pretty rare machine these days.

€6,400 though..... Half that sounds even too much.

I know we said that we wouldn’t post any more Deane Motors posts but this one takes the cake... I think for once he undervalued something.

Why did they have such long intake runners. Did they think it helped back then. I know engines have evolved but afaik I don't know any other car that has such long intake runners.

I think we shouldn't be allowed to post those well known dealers in this thread. Its practically cheating

I don't get his business model, he has stuff sitting there for a long long time before it sells. Does he buy the cars at half the price and spruce them up or does he only buy REALLY good examples and whacks 10k on them all. I don't get it.

I've found when I'm scanning thru' the vintage section on Donedeal I just skip over his ads. First pic is obviously Deane's so drive on. Don't even look at the price.

To be fair. I went and viewed a jag he had for sale. Car was exceptional but it was out of my budget. I kinda just went for a mooch around to see what all the fuss was about. His cars do seem far and a way better than the likes of Dave Goulding’s cars. Maybe we have it wrong... I think his approach is, if they don’t sell they will eventually because they are good cars??? Makes no difference to me. I still can’t afford them. He sells well over 100 cars a year so he must be doing something right. Prick 🀣🀣

I bought a car from him.

I had a good poke around his stock while there and it was all excellent.

Prices are aspirational, but I can tell you from experience that there was plenty of room for negotiation.

He is also a sound lad to deal with. He is a total petrol head and knows his stuff.

I appreciate this sounds like a shill post, but I don't know him from Adam other than when I bought from him.

    YMMV

More power at lower rpms. Common enough on 16v engines. Alot of renault use a similar design.

Apologies... I tried to put a laughy face behind the prick part, as in... he must be doing ok even though we are slagging him. Lol

There's many 08s-10s going for less than that. Even mine was less than that. In saying that though it probably is the better engine.

Leather, nice alloys and auto kind of bring it above poverty spec. For real poverty spec it needs to at least be manual and have cloth seats.

My thought looking at the ad was similar. "That's very expensive for a chicken coop".

When they first arrived they were aimed at young drivers - small engines, sporty looks and relatively cheap to tax/fuel/insure. Nowadays any young driver needing a car to meet those criteria will find it near impossible to insure a 22 year old car. It's not even a rare turbo to justify the price. Methinks huge discount is needed, or the seller better be prepared to sit on it for a good while.
