Yeh, thanks have tried over the summer to implement and start them off or twin them with people. And have kept reminding to keep 2 weeks of non persibles in their houses. One person very good lives maybe 15 miles away and did some delievrys of food. Our nearest stores got a reader for cards and will deliever but prices way higher. I used to do that with hotels and point to a lower price online. Lidli and aldi and dunnes dont deliever here. Tesco will but has prices cheaper instore as many elders live off their special offers and last time getting a slot was like gold dust and a max no of items didnt go far when looking after more than one household.2 local charitys have closed down last year that would have sorted stuff like this.

Just having not such a good day as I was about to take a break for myself. You know what have just decided if the gov brings this in I am just going to ring up the local gov tds and get them to sort it. Thanks for more ideas.

Haven't found a difference between Tesco prices online and in store to be honest, I don't bother with online deliveries for food but check the special offers section before going to them, and only use them for specific items.
Understand the getting out of the house part of going to the shops for some people, wouldn't be such a person myself as I hate having to do the shopping :-)
Good luck with your neighbors and harassing the local politicians, just remind them that older people are more likely to vote and it would be terrible if the local newspapers etc got wind that they weren't willing to help.

when 15 randomers are allowed to traverse the country and cross international borders to play on a pitch with 15 other randomers, while the rest of us are told we can't pop next door to visit or family, they won't get this under control or get buy in.

The GAA shouldn't need to be given instructions. They would be far more respected if they just halt everything once the rules are out tomorrow. We are all making sacrifices. Feck them.

There will be a Cabinet meeting tomorrow so might be Tuesday to give people time to adjust or shut down.

Bit of a tangent but can now renew by post instead of in person for anyone who knows anyone who is over 70 needing to renew their driver's license soon. Had to go in person up to this as renewing online wasn't possible if over 70.

Just a FYI in case it saves someone a trip.

    This is all very simple,

Ask yourself how many people do you mind dying so you can pay your bills ? And then, how many people do you mind losing their jobs so you can stay safe ?
    Then find the mid point.

GDP is not an accurate measure of the real world Irish economy due to the large amount of MNCs funnelling profits through Ireland.

Our GNP figures also fare favorably compared to other EU member States. As you know, GNP removes the profits of MNC's.

NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, La Liga, Ligue 1/2, Seria A/B/C, Bundesliga/Bundesliga 2/3. Liga, Premier League, Championship, League 1, League 2, Vanarama National League, Vanarama Championship, Portuguese Soccer League, all soccer internationals. Just to name a few.

And all using the same rapid testing that the GAA is using for intercounty.
    Where's the difference?

Gaa players are only tested if they is a comfirmed case in the camp.

Nobody is saying uncontrolled spread or do you regard level 3 restrictions as uncontrolled spread. Our economy is being proped up by multi nationals which is great for revenue but not great for the half a million who will be out of work

They're not testing them. Intercounty GAA players are being tested

You said other European countries were having sporting events without issue, the link I posted shows that isn't exactly the case, unless of course you are saying that they aren't having issues simply because they are not testing.

    It's insulting tbh.

I think having a gaa championship this winter would be great for a lot of people if we were in lockdown. I know a lot of younger people got a bit boost when the Premier league came back, it was something to look forward, something to get you through the week. I know a lot of people will find this crazy and laugh at it but sport can be a great escape.

Would Sweden be that mid point?

There economy is doing worse than there neighbours:

Sweden's GDP slumped 8.6% in Q2, more sharply than its neighbors despite its no-lockdown policy

So, the answer would be a No......

This is it in a nutshell. If the people I might be relying on to save my life, are saying that we are in trouble, I will certainly be pushing their case. For anyone who didn't hear, they said that urgent action is required now.

Actual practicing medics probably are alright, because the black hole money and resources usually don't filter down to their front line. That's the aspect that needs to be looked at and changed.

Agreed... I’ve just enjoyed this weekend watching the Dubs firstly.

And I’ve just finished watching Spurs vs West Ham which will go down as one of the games of the season. A brilliant watch. Spurs 3-0 up after 15 minutes. Still 3-0 up with 8 minutes to go but West Ham rallied and got a point with a candidate for goal of the season...

Great to be able to flick on the tv, enjoying live competition sports again.

If everybody behaves we get to keep doing that through the winter.

We don’t ? Gonna be a long cold winter ahead.

Exactly. There is a long, long way to go and comparing countries only to there closest neighbors with regards to gdp is quite simply ridiculous.
