Yeah he's sort of got a point there in fairness, though the fact that he was chummy with Erdogan undermines those concerns for me as I detest him. Nothing against the Turkish people but I don't have time for that guy.

Ah yeah, Erdogan is a monster.

And yes, it's a bit hypocritical of Ozil to both support the Uigher muslims and also be buds with Erdogan whilst he assists Azerbaijan in a genocide against the Armenian people.

2 very similar situations, and in both cases the oppressors should be condemned.

Great article on Tony Collins, the first black manager in English league football in 1959. He was also Palace's first black player and the first black player to manage an English team to a major cup final. He was the first black manager in '59, the next wasn't until 1993.

Apparently everyone has since tested negative and Portugal played again since.

And they'll all be tested again on return to their clubs.

I'm starting to rethink the testing. Those Portugal players might test negative the same day as Ronaldo tested positive but they might still be in the incubation period which can last 5-6 days.

For example Keita tested negative before the Villa game and played that game, at the same time there was a few members of the squad that had covid. He then tested positive a week later, so it's possible that he had it while testing negative and it just didn't show up in the test as it was so quick.

A test tomorrow and Tuesday for those Portugal players might show up more positives.

The international break going ahead was ridiculously stupid.

The incubation period is most commonly 3 to 5 days but can be up to 14 days.

Most fans and club managers must think the international break was unnecessary given current situation.

Kevin De Bruyne out of City's next 3 games with a muscle injury according to Pep.

I was gunna say I'd fancy Everton due to Adrian starting but then remembered Pickford is the other keeper.

I'd settle for a nine goal thriller to start the day.

I can't believe Pickford is still starting. The next mistake is on the manager.

    That was fast.

    Mane goal

Good goal, Mane with 3 or 4 around him but none actually marking him

    Pickford lucky there...

    Horror tackle that by Pickford

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,191 ✭✭✭✭Shanotheslayer

In the laws of the game can Pickford still not get booked for that tackle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,732 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Pickford seems to be doing his best to get dropped.

Maybe Ancelotti just wanted to give Olsen extra time training before starting him?

Surely a Booking at least no?

I was wondering, cause van dijk is offside does that simply negate the bad challenge?

It shouldn't. It's a booking and arguably a red. The fact that the whistle had gone doesn't negate that.

So you can basically do what you want to a player that's offside. Noted.

    ridiculous by Pickford

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,950 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

We've seen players sent off for less. Just because he's offside does that give Pickford freedom to tackle like that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

So you can score a winning goal after the final whistle however you can't get booked for a near leg breaking tackle after an offside is given.

The laws of the game are an ass.

Gomes has been very poor so far

Pickford is a gas man to watch, great entertainment.

Think the law is ok in this instance, just that the officials didn’t implement them. Red card all day long.

You can though. The referee has just got it wrong, the whistle going doesn't negate the fact that Pickford tried to smash Van Dijk.

If you want to be pedantic, the peno for United (that satisfyingly seems to really annoy some) was from an incident that happened in play. I didn’t see it but technically if a player was offside when the incident happened, then the incident didn’t happen in play.

But I don’t think that should matter, players can be sent off after a game has finished. Sounds like it could be the old England international benefit of the doubt card being applied. If it’s as bad as some are saying, Pickford should be off.

Pretty much a knee high slide tackle! A genuine leg breaker. I don't think their was intent(not that it matters) he's just an idiot.

Edit: Is calling a player an idiot for a challenge a cardable offence? apologies if so
