Thousands and thousands of cases in recent weeks and 30 people in ICU with COVID out of a country of nearly 5m. This really is a complete joke at this stage.

No it's not. It suggests that the level of infection in the community was much higher that we realised, before we were testing and in the long time it took to get the test numbers up.

The more people that catch it, the more deaths we will have - both directly from Covid and from other conditions that can not be treated because our health system is overwhelmed.

It's a numbers game - the higher the level of infection, the more problems it causes.

We closed schools in March and it made no difference.

    Say it again, ten times.

We cannot close schools without shuttering the economy.

You are right. But there is also no point closing the economy if they are open.

Another interesting tweet. Is it demographics? Population density? Obesity?

So, the health and mental wellbeing of our young adults, is the price we are prepared to pay?

They are already coming to that conclusion themselves.

Esteemed expert Dr William Henry Gates III says that there will be no “normal” until we have had a second mandatory vaccine guys. Great to have someone so concerned about humanity in our corner. We need to update our biological operating systems.

There is absolutely no proof for what you have said there. Where is the evidence the hospitals will be overwhelmed?

And you cannot blame rising case numbers for not treating other illness - its the restrictions that stop treating other illness.

I don’t think people understand this , close schools and people can’t go to work . I know schools aren’t a child minding services but with schools opened currently it allows people to get back to work and keep economy going .
I think a lot of people who are shouting to close schools are not parents or are stay at home parents and school closing wouldn’t affect them a whole lot.

It takes one with hiccup to crash the hospitals..

A statement completely detached from any sort of facts or reality.

After thousands of cases (and many many more undetected), are the hospitals currently overwhelmed? They are quieter at this time of year than they have ever been. That is the reality.

When was the last time you were in a hospital or A&E ward?

The actual people tasked with running the hospitals are saying the polar opposite of you.

So tell me, how do you know more?

I really don't know how to respond to that statement.

My sister in law works in A&E in one of the biggest ones in Dublin. As does another friend of mine. I have no reason to lie, these restrictions dont impact me greatly.

The HSE sat back and let Jesus take the wheel. Sometimes a little faith is all that is needed.

Not what I asked but which one?

I never suggested you lied, completely detached from reality, definitely.

Several hospitals are currently overwhelmed and implementing emergency surge plans. Widely reported in the news the last few days.

It's just the first step, the Cabinet would have to approve any agreement and there is no meeting planned, at present, this weekend.

Cabinet needs to hold firm on this. They have to stand up to Adolf holohan. Boy is he on a power trip. He has made Ronan Glynn look like an easy touch too, someone who could be bullied easily.

Why the drip feed of data lately everyday. Hospital numbers, ICU numbers, swab numbers and then finally case numbers. Some people seem to be living for these numbers. Just release it all together at 6pm and stop this constant flow of info throughout the day

Sub-committee AKA leaders, not the full Cabinet.

Is it a sign of NPHET and Gov disconnect, that as the situation obviously worsens, cabinet meetings are not routinely scheduled for the next day, to discuss the latest situation? Even if it's only a zoom call?

It looks to me like the Gov decided who was boss this week by announcing changes before NPHET met and not being on standby to consider their findings the day after. Micháel even spoke of making decisions as needed without the usual mention that NEPHET recommendations would be awaited and considered.

Looks like they discovered their mettle, and I am not sure if that is for the better, or not.

I dunno about y'all but I'm taking a week off it all from today. Conversations are fairly circular too so no point in repeating myself ad nauseum :D
