Restaurants in D15 doing outdoor dining or takeaway services

I know there are lots of us in the D15 forum who like to eat out and right now all of our favourite places are temporarily closed thanks to government recommendations for the suppression of Covid-19.

They'll need as much business as possible to keep them ticking over so that they can re-open when they are allowed. Let's start a thread of the restaurants that are offering meals to take away or an outdoor dining area so that we can support them when we're having a night off cooking.

No need to mention businesses that always do takeaway as they are unaffected, just places that normally do indoor dining.

I saw from their Facebook page this morning that Goat's Gruff are returning to their drive by coffee service during the day and takeaway pizza service 7 nights a week.

On this I saw a tweet that said to try and order directly with the restaurant and not through apps that take a percentage of the order.

Eatin the cafe in supervalu (blanch village) are taking orders for takeaways. Just seen on their fbpage.

Rudy's have an outdoor seating area and are taking bookings.

I'll be interested to hear how pleasant an experience it will be to eat outside on a late September/October night even with the best outdoor heat lamps as the temperatures start to plummet from now on. We've been lucky the last week but how long will that last? Even last night felt chilly despite the fine weather.

Rendezvous in Ongar is doing take away and has a few outdoor spots.

Is there anywhere doing takeaway pints? Was over in Baldoyle yesterday and got some from a pub there.
Really miss 2 or 3 Guinness at the weekend.

You can get a pint outside Leonard's so I presume you can do takeaway as well?!

Maximilians has a covered outdoor area with a patio heater and dividers. Looks a lot better than some of the attempts I’ve seen from other restaurants that have people packed in like sardines.

I only discovered that place a few weeks ago and it's really fantastic. Popped down yesterday morning and there was a serious queue of cars there.

    You mean Rudys?

No, Maximilians. Unless you mean Rudys is packing them in like sardines, which I agree with.

Yeah I drove past Rudys yesrerday and it was pretty wedged.

I just didn't think Maximilians had the space outside for more than a couple of tables.

But sure if mentioned already but Taste of Provence at the bottom of Clonsilla Road always seems to be busy. Coffee, cakes, pastries, etc.

Must check out Maxi's, was in once before and thought the food was lovely but it was tiny, very small to be honest. Haven't seen their outdoor area but hoping it's on social media.

Looking somewhere Thursday evening for a few drinks and outdoor dining.

Anyone know why Wetherspoons hasn’t reopened? The other Dublin Wetherspoons seem to be.

Seemingly the Clonsilla Inn had huge crowds at the weekend. Whatsapp video doing the rounds showing massive queues out front in the car park.

Are they doing food in the car park?

These guys, The Sambo Ambo https://www.facebook.com/thesamboambo/ were there in the car park recently but it looks like they have moved on to the Guinness Storehouse for December. I suppose once the pub itself was open it didn't make sense to have a competitor for food in the car park.

They advertised 2 slots of 3 hours.... 4 to 7 and 7 to 10.....seemed like nobody thought about the changeover!

Passed by The Bell on a walk last night and there was a coffee van there, has anyone tried it?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional East Moderators, Regional North West Moderators Posts: 12,328 Mod ✭✭✭✭miamee

Went to the coffee van at The Bell last week one night, I had a peppermint tea and half a pastry (shared), pastry was grand. There was also a large burger stand there, the type you might see at a festival or something. I think it was called The Big Grill or something like that, I haven;t tried it though.

Also, there is a coffee van in the car park of the Clonsilla Inn these days too.

Any restaurants to add to those doing takeaway this January?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,591 ✭✭✭raheny red

Rudy's have started delivering. I haven't tried yet mind, just seen the sign outside the other day.

We have a birthday coming up in the house so looking for suggestions of restaurants in D15 that do nice restaurant level food but for take away so we can pretend to be in a fancy restaurant :D

I really like Diep in Blanch village. Bigger selection and quality of food is good.

Had Anglers Rest a number of months ago (Probably closer to last Summer) and was lovely take home option.

Also not quite fancy restaurant food but Goat's Gruff is doing savage pizza down that direction also. Really nice pizza and kind of my go to for weekly takeout meal (Need something to look forward to at weekend). :D

Thanks chris, I hadn't thought of Angler's Rest!

Another one that might be worth looking at is Luttrelstown at home - they do it weekly for collection over the weekend. Looks lovely but a little pricey.

Thanks maryjane, I'm going to check that one out too!

Rudy's would be the other option, they are now doing delivery too I believe

Mulberry Restaurant at the Halfway House is doing take-away as well. Haven't tried it, just seen the ads on social media.

How pricey is pricey, I see a sample kids menu and wine menu on the below link but nothing regarding the standard menu and it's pricing.
    https://www.luttrellstowncastle.com/dining/at-home/

Their Sun lunch used to be very good although haven't been since they increased pricing from €25 to €30 for the 3 course option.

Myself and OH had a burger from the place in The Bell carpark last week. We both had the Gourmet Classic burger and OH had some chips as well. The burgers were really good in my opinion, a fresh, thick, tasty beef patty with lettuce, pickles, tomato and dressing. Much nicer than what you would get in the chipper. The sun was shining and we sat on a kerb eating and enjoyed every bit.

New Sunday market down at the Wren's Nest in Strawberry beds - Mafia food is so good! There's a taco truck too, haven't tried yet.

I noticed in the last few days that there is now Mao at Home in the same unit as Dantes Pizza next to Starbucks/Leisureplex. Nice to see them back if even just for takeaway right now. The only unit I knew of that was still open was in Dun Laoghaire but that has now closed down (as opposed to closed due to covid).

Good to hear, was sorry to see them close in Blanch village as always enjoyed their black pepper beef and they used to do good value lunch meals.
No mention of the new location on their website so looks like ordering online for collection is not an option. With less passing traffic at Blanch centre don't understand why they can't at least have their website up to date.

There was an advertisement in a local paper for a new menu at Camille Thai, Blancherstown venu with a €10 off voucher. Tried ordering online at the weekend to avail of it but the advertised menu in the paper didn't match the online (either website or app) version. Rang the store and they didn't have items on the advertised menu either and wouldn't honor the voucher. To rub salt in the wounds they then hung up on me when they were supposed to check on another item. In a few different attempts to order from Camille Thai have had bad experiences so went to Blue Elephant instead.

There wasn’t much evidence of “Take Away” as their Car Park was packed with people guzzling Pints this evening.

The new Mao is on the website now. I think I might have to investigate the menu for tonight or tomorrow night :D

That's a shame about Camile, we order from there fairly regularly and never have issues. Having said that, I always order on the app for collection so I wouldn't be on the phone to them too often.

ETA: weirdly you can also order Dante's pizza for collection or delivery from the Mao at Home website. No mention of that until you get in to the menu section though.

Not sure why you would want to though, worst pizza I've ever had in a restaurant. The base was more like one of the pre-prepared ones you add your own toppings to at the deli counter in a supermarket than something prepared in a restaurant.

Drove past myself and seen them sitting on the wall in the sunshine.

My thoughts were that at least they were outdoors. Far less chance of passing on the disease than sitting indoors in someones kitchen or livingroom knocking, back a slab. On the other hand, its quite likely that they went back to someones home to continue the session after finishing at the Clonsilla Inn.

Also wondered what the toilet arrangements were.

So how're the D15 Foodies all getting on with outdoor eating back on the cards?

Anglers Rest - Had a beautiful outdoor lunch, covered area and very relaxed. Looking forward to going again.

Rudy's - had home delivery which was savaged by all, Beef Cheek was insanely good. Hoping to get there soon for outdoor eating.

Goats Gruff - Have had lunch time sambo's and coffee only so far (superb!) can't seem to get an evening pizza booking since we have had access to baby sitting :p Living in hope!

BuJo - Picked up a drive through last weekend as it was recommended in another thread here, really delicious and so efficient. Will have to be careful not to over indulge :o

You have to book the pizza for Goats Gruff in or around 2pm. I usually book via WhatsApp and email. Always works.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Is the Angler's Rest first come for seating or can you book a slot?
