This is not about a pub it’s a house gathering which is not allowed under current restrictions and for very good reason.

As for pubs of course they are high risk and really are not feasible to be open while trying to contain a pandemic, same goes for restaurants.

There have been fu#k all cases in the pubs when they reopened and thats including the food pubs. If your talking about high risk then schools or colleges shouldnt have reopen. Even gyms should be still closed

I'm 38, oldest in our group is 41. We'll be grand. If we were double our ages it might, perhaps, maybe, effect us.

You're 38?! Jesus Christ, from your posting on here i thought you were a fragile young fella finding the going tough.
That's pathetic, you're looking for lock ins to scoop with other lads the same age as yourself.

    Grow the **** up

Christ, this thread is gone toxic. Yet another unfortunate consequence of the pubs being closed!

Pay the misery merchants little heed, I certainly don't. Especially when I'm getting a fresh pour at the local this evening with all guidelines adhered to. I will revel in their powerlessness to stop us practicing common sense. Regulars only, the few of us that drop in weren't born yesterday and know what 2m spacing entails. Cheers.

The ones without common sense are the issue!

That must be about the tenth time that's been linked in this thread.
For context, here's the official analysis of identified clusters and sources.

Total clusters: 4443, 492 in the last week.
Total in private homes: 3199, 395 in the past week.
Total in pubs: 10, 1 in the past week

It's actually getting worse - only 20% of the most recent cases have been traced back to an actual source.

And again, 10 clusters attributed to pubs during the entire course of pandemic. Out of 4500.

Schools are back, a month? And there's 50.
And yes, clearly schools are far more necessary for pubs. But the incessant insistence on blaming pubs for everything while insisting schools are perfectly fine isn't remotely borne out by the numbers.

Just for the record. i have done neither of those things.

I literally go to work, go home from work Mon-Fri

Saturday I'm either at home, or in a friends house.

    Sunday, at home.

You're full of it. Why wouldn't I keep my 2m the very occasional time i'm in a shop?

So not only are you going out at weekend mixing you are not working from home so risking everyone you come into contact through out the day, you are incapable of driving so probably on public transport etc.

Why not just stay at home and have beers, watch a move or sport do a zoom call or quiz with friends. You don’t need to be going to meet people and you shouldn’t be organising meet ups because the pubs are closed - they are closed to try to stop people meeting but you think you are exempt from these guidelines. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

I agree they should all be closed and they will be from what I’m hearing, schools will be closed for two weeks after the midterm break, which I would imagine will be accompanied by level 5 throughout the country.

I'm not quoting noxs load of gibberish but zoom quizzes are ****e, and if you think they are a replacement for actual human interaction, you are clearly an idiot.

Do you have something against people who can't work from home?

Some of us have been working for months already. Some of us never stopped working. We're the ones risking it but we have no choice.

Comments like that remind me of why I'm not on Twitter anymore.

I really miss the zoom quizzes from lockdown, I was genuinely sad after they stopped when the first lockdown ended.

Nothing at all against people who can’t work from home but if you are going out to work and thus having a lot of contacts you should be really working very hard to limit contacts outside of this and avoiding all social settings etc due to the potential for spread in both directions.

Are you bloody serious? Do you expect people who work away from home all day to lock themselves inside the house when they get home and not have some sort of live. I work shifts and when i have time off i make sure to visit friends and vice versa. Its called having a life. I cant meet them in the pub so i might as well meet them somewhere.

    Zoom quizzes can be fun.
I have one about every 3 or 4 weeks with friends who are scattered around the place we tend to keep in contact via technology all the time anyway and meet up a few times a year.
We do scavenger hunts, music rounds, riddles, picture rounds a few drinks, they are good fun
I have met some friends for dinner or out in the open air for walks etc.
It is really important to still meet friends and family in person if possible occasionally imo. I have been working at home since March my husband and dog here, so can go a bit stir crazy. The poor dog is having the legs walked off him.

My mates just WhatsApped. Pub next door to him are doing takeaway pints this evening, so we’re all off to his house for after work pints. Delighted. Help the local economy and see all the lads and their missus’. Get a few platters from one of the local takeaways and it should be a great night.

As long as you realise that it's this behaviour that is causing the virus to spread.

It's this behaviour that is keeping the pubs closed.

I am not spreading the virus because i havent had it and none of my friends have had it. If i am feeling any sort of unwell i will not visit anyone. By the way the government said you can have visiters from one other household :D

Exactly. And as long as you're doing this, it should be fine.

I doubt you are however. And if you're not, it's this behaviour that is causing the pubs to close!

I know i didnt have it. I have been in close contact with loads of friends and family and none of them had it. Work with a company that has over 600 employees and not one person has contracted covid 19 so i am fully sure i didnt get it

Visiting a small selection of friends or family members (once you know they are also very careful with their contacts isn't what I'm taking about and you know that well. Happened to meet a friend by chance on an outdoor walk during the week, its the first one of my friends I have met in person since early March. Contacts limited to close family members on both sides otherwise for the most part.

That poster has been non stop on about going to house parties and meeting loads of people in pubs and their houses for weeks now. These are the people spreading the virus.
I can't work from home. I'm an essential worker.

God help who ever you work for or with. You should not be meeting people in groups, going to other peoples houses etc. It's insanity that you cannot see the potential damage you are doing.

You do realise that most people who get it shown few or no symptoms? You could have had it 6 months ago, 5 months ago or whenever, but unless you've been tested for antibodies you may never know (and I'm in exactly the same position - I think it's unlikely that I've had it but I simply do not know)
