Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FBI Thwarts Plot by Militia(s) to Kidnap, Try, Execute Gov. of Michigan

Above,Gov. Whitmer holds a live press conference about WTF happened.

Today the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it discovered, monitored and upended a plot to kidnap the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer (Democrat)

    https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1251169217531056130?lang=en

You can read the criminal complaint here: https://apps.npr.org/documents/document.html?id=7223362-Michigan-Kidnapping-Conspiracy

The FBI has named and is charging "Adam FOX, Barry CROFT, Ty GARBIN, Kaleb FRANKS, Daniel HARRIS, and Brandon CASERTA with conspiring to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer." Croft is a resident of Deleware, the rest are from Michigan.

Planning according to the charging document went on for months and Ohio was also used as a meeting point. The FBI looked to have finally ended the surveillance when the group planned, yesterday, "to make a payment on explosives and exchange tactical gear." The plan was to use about $4,000 worth of explosives to destroy a bridge that connected to the governors vacation home and escape by boat after kidnapping her, they also had separate access to self made IEDs.

The group romanticized itself as protecting the Bill of Rights and planned to stage a mock trial of the governor for violating the constitution, with many in the group expressing a desire to kill her for treason against the United States.

The FBI has been monitoring the group at least since March. What did the President of the United States know, and when did he know it?

Little I'd imagine. He throws out such statements and hopes some **** will stick to keep his redneck base happy. Like the Proud Boys being told to stand by etc.

I can't imagine a kidnapping/assassination plot against a governor was left out of the POTUS' daily security briefings. For 6 months.

Whitmer is the type of female politician that makes the Trogs from the Manosphere convulse. There has been growing overlap between them and the “Patriot Movement.” So not surprised she was their first target.

There's no difference, terrorists are probably quite a bit less cognitively impaired or dissonant though.

    The FBI are democrats.

What, all of 'em? Robert Mueller was a registered Republican and Trump still canned him. So was James Comey until Trump canned him too. Maybe they just weren't 'Republican' or sycophantic enough for him. He does love a sycophant.
Proven lying democrats that will try everything they can to pin something on Trump. Nothing sticks. They arnt credible anymore.

The FBI aren't trying to pin anything on Trump here, though. They've charged a militia group for planning to kidnap and execute the Governor of Michigan.

Do you think they're making up these charges or what?

Saying they're a militia is some fcukery of the highest order..

Terror group, plain and simple. I'm pretty sure that this story meets the below standards?

"FBI definition of terrorism: The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives."

Quite, I suspect a dialectic discussion with a proper political terrorist would be much more enlightening than one with your average militia grunt from Bent Elbow, Ohio.

    Or wherever!

The Boogaloo are another right wing militia movement that has targeted police.

Simply targeting the police is no clear indicator of political bias of the group. I don't see enough information in the charging document to conclude what their affiliation is, however it's worth nothing the Governor they were obsessed with killing for treason etc even across state lines was a Democrat and someone frequently excoriated by the Republican POTUS, with the signaling of the POTUS being that she was criminal and being unconstitutional

Frankly for all we know these are libertarian extremists as well. But there's certainly no evidence here they are Antifa - and if they were, Trump would be roaring it from the back of Air Force One

it's interesting they are blaming the Militia - is there any evidence these guys are part of any Militia
What I see online is these guys are stand alone anarchists not militia (in the organised sense)

The distinction may seem trite to people on boards but in the USA its a huge distinction.

Seems to me initially the governor is using a plot by independent operators to smear organised groups opposed to her.

    No it's not.
It's a huge diverse country with a population of over 300 million.

Honestly, the FBI and the media are reaching for straws here trying to portray this as 'a militia'. It's a bunch of anarchists/antifa, who have spent the last 5 months burning down cities, assaulting/murdering people and targeting politicians. Surprise surprise, they target another politician.

How disheatening must it be for Brandon Caserta. Now matter how hard he tries to embrace his politics, when it comes right down to it all his so called 'allies' see is an angry white male. He has destroyed his life for nothing.

Since they openly admitted to spreading lies to support Trump when Steve Bannon was in charge.

Another untrustworthy rag was founded by the same guy. Not a great point. Whataboutism too.

Do you actually believe breitbart will give a balanced and nuanced opinion on anything?

But that's not completely true. One of the founders of both companies is shared. That does not make them the same, and to equate them is dishonest.

Apropos of nothing, but companies can change regardless of their original founders beliefs, especially when one founder died nearly 10 years ago.

Breitbart is unreliable as a news source, HuffPo isn't the best source out there, but it is better, has more integrity and journalistic ethics.

And in any case, we have the guys own anarchist and anti-trump views voiced in his own words so we're not just relying on the flag. Even if there was no flag, there is still enough to disprove the desperate FBI/media narrative of terrorist white militias.

That would go down like the Zeppelin, imagine the optics from the POV of an American.

They already think the Democrats want to take their guns and Defund or Abolish the Police. Rightly or Wrongly, they historically see the militia (not the white supremacist criminal type) as a protection from the Government imposing tyranny on their lives.

7 members of the Wolverine Watchmen militia group charged. Is that proof enough?
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said that seven members of an armed group called the Wolverine Watchmen were also facing state charges.

They are suspected of attempting to identify the home addresses of law enforcement officers in order to target them and "instigate a civil war," the attorney general said.

They also planned to attack the capitol building in Lansing and kidnap government officials including Ms Whitmer, she said.

The seven were charged with various offences, including providing material support for terrorist acts, gang membership and firearms violations.

No, 'militia' in the US context is commonly used to designate white right wing armed groups. The use of the term here is a deliberate attempt to muddy the waters as the FBI is desperately trying to make white domestic terrorism a thing. I'd say its highly likely the FBI were actually the ones to inspire and organise this plot.
