I have a feeling Tony Holohan will now resign, and take a legal case.

Might consider resigning, legal action not a chance no grounds whatsoever.

Wouldn't be surprised if resignations are handed in tomorrow on the back of that interview.

Excellent from Leo, finally some hard truths being spoken.

I find it funny the abuse the government are getting from some. The easy option was to go to level 5 and absolve themselves of any potential blame - they didn't do that.

NPHET blindsided the government (and the country last night), they handled it appallingly. Leo is right too, they're all completely sheltered from the impact of the recommendations they make.

Trumps on the mend, feeling great apparently.

If a fat unfit 74 year old only has a few off days after getting covid are we wrong to be worried about it?

Unfortunately, I feel he's probably correct. I'm not sure people get the subtlety of the levels.

Sam McDonkey on now, absolute spoofer. Sitting at home in a 3 piece suit, sums him up.

What are you smoking? Varadkar just did the best interview of his political career and ensured FG are now top dogs. That could have not gone any better for him.

    Great to see.

Martin just seen his own man give bluff and bluster and Leo give the true story. He will not be happy.

Feck's sake. Nobody told me Claire Byrne was on at 9.30. There I was watching the dozy eejits at the presser.

I wouldn't be celebrating Leo's performance yet, or indeed anyone's performance. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating and obviously we all hope that the government's measures today will be sufficient, and more importantly that the cohort of people who have not been taking it seriously will do so now. I wouldn't hold out much hope on that last one.

They need to be challenged and have different opinions put to them.

Claire Byrne will be glad she can keep getting her hair fine-tuned anyway :D

Doesn’t do much for her anyways, she’s had nicer hairstyles. Now here’s zero covid mc Conkey to tell us we’re doing it all wrong

They've shut the pubs again there's no other option than House Party's now.

There is an option. Don't have the house parties ffs. Can people really not live a few weeks without having people around?

Get the numbers down quickly and I'm certain the pubs will be opened as they should have been in July.

Well that is Tony gone by tomorrow and more could go from NPHET. At least now all is now the governments decisions.

Yes and they will take responsibility.

They will be called granny killers in under a month!

Ignore professional expert advice as a politician at your peril.

That’s what Tony Holohan’s letter to Government said.

And maybe they are right. But their process was all over the place. advice should not change in 3 days. Tony was hyped up to come in without any warm-up tournaments and win the Masters. Except the course has completely changed in the 3 months he has been away.

They can get ****ed. He put his side of the story across which was well articulated and made sense. If you can’t take some criticism, don’t go on a solo run thinking you’re untouchable.

    Hats off to Leo.

Would be interesting to know what Tony Holohan’s employment status was last night when he attended that NPHET meeting if he wasn’t due back in the role of CMO until today.
