That's it alright. I swapped the black grill back to the original a while back.

Jesus that was a really lovely F10 Bazz.

Frozenfrozen, as the others have said, it's time to move on from thinking about that 335d - there will be others.

Besides, because all 335ds are xDrive, it only comes with SE suspension, I think you'd be better off with a 330d if you want a fast diesel and re-mapping it.

Car in the drive now. Just a genuine case of not wanting to sell but I've it now

    Sellers remorse...
Well wear. Sounds a lovely spec. Put some pics up when you can.

Good stuff, I figured it was a genuine enough case of not knowing if he was sure on selling it. Bit crap on his part as he should make that decision before putting it online, but can understand.

Hopefully means it's a really good one.

He was a really nice guy just absolutely did not want to sell. I'd be annoyed if I hadn't got it in the end but understand why he was reluctant now that i drove it. Turned auto lights on for the whole journey and they were doing their pointing in different directions and turning off individual sides for the way home in the awful rain.

Suspension is great, my dad gave me a lift up in a 645ci and it was like different roads on the way home in the 335d

Will take a quick picture tomorrow and stop spamming the thread :D

Glad it worked out. I know that lower/sportier suspension sounds better for car people, but the higher suspension on the xdrive is well suited to Irish back roads and you don't wince as much when that unexpected hump or dip in the road comes out of nowhere and you don't bottom out.

Its on ac schnitzer springs but looks normal m sport height instead of the x drive height. On since the original owner. Very popular mod. Think they were bmw approved so you kept your warranty or something

Yes, aftermarket springs and dampers are very popular with xDrive owners.

Anyway, very glad it worked out for you in the end, congrats!

Lovely car frozenfrozen, nice spec too. If the VRT the seller quoted in the ad is accurate it seems like a great deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,609 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

frozenfrozen, buy the fully licensed bimmercode app, then buy yourself a bluetooth/wireless ODB port adapter and you do some novice coding to the car. You can enable some features that are normally disabled in some markets.

    https://bimmercode.app/adapters/

You can also use the same ODB adapter with the likes of the bimmerlink app to read fault codes and look at data from your car.

thanks, he quoted it without NOX on the ad but it's euro6 so it will be around 4.5k total to clear which is ok as long as I get it done before whatever mental budget they might do and put it up

will have a look into which of those adapters to get, presume they're all the same. Want to code auto folding mirrors with lock, auto turn idrive off on door open and digital speed readout as well as turning launch control on for the laugh if it already isn't on. Anything else I should know about to turn on?

Have to get autoglass or one of them to fix 2 bits of damage on the windscreen. 500 and something +vat for an OE replacement or 199.99 to repair the 2 marks after I sent them a picture one about 20c coin size and one about 2 or 5 cent coin size. Might get a quote from another crowd as 199 seems quite steep for what are two quite standard bits of damage from a stone to the glass but it's not the end of the world. Not doing it on insurance because they were there when I bought the car

Also a little green paint transfer rub on the very front nose between the front grille like someone lightly drove against it in a car park but id say it'll come out with polish. All in all very happy in the light of day with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

Start/Stop coded to remember last setting is probably the most useful thing. If launch control is in the idrive manual, its already on in your car. I would guess it is there.

I'd disable auto start stop anyway, don't see any reason to increase turbo, starter motor or engine wear for a miniscule fuel saving. The folding door mirrors upon locking is a great thing to code as well.

The AC springs transform the ride of the car.

And the digital speed display in kmh. And the Rolls Royce warning bongs. Closest I'll ever get to a RR:D

I saw on the golf gti thread that it looks like you’ve sold the BMW Vintage Vrs.
Is it now fiesta st or anything else catching your eye?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

Erm........that fell through already ffs. The guy texted this morning that he cant insure it.........

Anyway, I'm looking at other options thatthe fiesta but will wait until it actually happens, as I have just learnt when you post and say you sold your car, you soon find out you havnt! :(

Sorry to hear that. Selling privately can be a painful experience alright.
You try any of the ZU car type outfits that buy cars?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

I did yeah, but the car is worth more to me than they were offering. To be honest, I have zero need to be changing and will prob regret it soon after if/when I do change it. It does everything very well, but I have had it 2+ years now and just think I should try something else. The car appeals to a very small market, but for someone who is looking for something like that, it is good value.

we were discussing tuned 330e's a while back.
Bob Flavin has driven one here.

I seen that video earlier. The first thought that came into my mind was I hope everything is golden around insurance if your car is going to be in a youtube video about remapping.

I thought the exact same thing.
    seems to drive sweetly though.
It appears the the new vrt system may favour hybrids too which is interesting.

    +2 on that.

I know it's the unspoken bit a lot of the time with a map but if you're not going to put your reg and face out there you need to cover your backside.

    Looks pretty impressive though.

I'd be wary of that b48 getting pushed in that situation as with the phev it'll be often cooler than normal.

I saw a video on Facebook of a fella doing 0-150 something mph saying it was a mapped 330e. It was very fast. Loads of comments about being an idiot for doing it and also for posting it publicly. What I noticed though was the oil temp hadn't moved up from the min. 50c so he was doing it with a cold engine. Loads of YouTube videos show similar.

    This kinda thing:
