What would it mean for pubs. Level 3 isn't very clear on gov.ie.

Level 4 is smoking area 15 people and takeway.

    Level 5 is takeaway/delivery only

Open with additional measures according to the RTE graphic

Nope not unless they can run with just 15 people sat outside

That is the Level 4 for pubs. Level 3 is "Remain open with additional restrictions"

That leave some leeway there depending on what they want to do.

Looks like the gov reject the level 5 and go for level 3 - rightly so.
    .........

Is there a link for this?
    Google isn't helping me.

Is that Dublin level 3 or donegal level 3 or some other version of level 3 they'll invent today.....

Based on what they've done so far it'll only be outdoor allowed.

Donegal they can open with additional restrictions which is only outdoor. Wont be worth it for pubs to open

Level 3 is quite confusing as the non food pubs (hate the term wet pubs) didnt re open anyway, im in kildare and we have pubs but what will level 3 mean for us.

The levels are like Russian nesting dolls where it looks like one thing and then there’s levels within levels. This talk of level 5 I honestly think was a bit of a wake up call and a refocusing of messaging and let’s be honest it has certainly focused people’s minds of covid and showed us where we don’t want to be.

if the whole country goes to level 3 then food pubs in Dublin should be re-opened and non food pubs should be allowed open with restrictions,

Dublin was at level 3 +
Non food pubs in Dublin won't be opening this week or next IMO.

So back too the €9 meal stuff for a few pints ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,127 ✭✭✭✭neris

Dont see why they cant open food and non food pubs with some added restrictions if needs be. Coming into this time of year no one will want to be stuck out side supping pints and freezing their arses off for 90 minutes or what ever the time limit is

They say they will enforcing the rules.

Level 5 with a bunch of tossers ig oring things has a similar risk profile to level 3 with full buy in. The buy in will be mandatory.

    Supposedly.

Just open the pub but have a partition covering the bar, if a Gard comes in and catches you with your pint indoors just say you didn't know there was a bar behind it...

I think that this is key - the buy in. Also, the enforcement of same. I was in sympathy for a long time with younger generations loosing out on their social lives during the past few months. I have now, however, done a 180 degree turn after what I have seen over the past few weeks in Cork and other cities.

I was the first person to criticize the €9 meal and I wanted the pubs to open fully a long time ago. The substantial meal was tempering us to behave - something that seems to be lost on our younger generations.

The flagrant disregard for rules and regulations just because you think you are immune to Covid-19 by younger generations is embarrassing and infuriating.

People who cannot seem to behave themselves after a few drinks are effectively shutting the businesses down - the carry on yesterday after the county final is another shocker (that goes for most counties)

No, in Donegal pubs can open but limited to 15 people outdoors. Suspect the same everywhere else now. No point in opening with that anyway

The penny is finally dropping. Better late than never I suppose. Anyway as I and other posters have already stated there needs to be a serious crackdown on the fcukwits who will still ignore the measures. One final chance to avoid the restrictions being escalated further in a few weeks time.

The last thing they are going to do is roll back restrictions. Unless something drastic happens, we're still staring down the barrel of a lockdown.

Level 3 is restrictions up to and including outdoor service only...

Funny thing is, these idiots who are flauting the rules live in a world (inside their own heads) where the Govt. are trying to take away our freedom, Big Brother is watching and every turn and Bill Gates is the reason why Taz bars have disappeared. Caramel Freddos are turning the frogs gay!

Coming down hard on them actually gives them more to complain about and give them more fuel to feed to other mindless idiots who will buy into their nonsense! It's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't kinda thing

To be honest with you, I don't think many 16-24 year olds think like that at all

More of a fellas who spend too long on the internet thought process

    True.

But the issue with a lot of 18-24 year olds is that they've been brought up on (un)healthy doses of whataboutery!

"I'm not allowed have a house party? But what about the schools? I'm gonna have a house party if the schools are open."

Too many morons in this country, not enough delicious pints!

Level 3 in the plan is both pubs and restaurants open with "additional restrictions".

Level 4 is both restaurants and pubs open outside only for up to 15 people.

There was no mention of outdoor service only at level 3 in the plan before the bastardised version of it that they came up with for Dublin.

Are non food pubs closed for level 3 now?

Level 3 is up to an including and that looks like what is going to happen. Same as Donegal
