This "recommendation" isnt blindsiding the government.

Its a case of getting it out there to see what the reaction is.

No doubt its their most palatable way of getting the entire country of at least level 3.

This way they can look like they are acting independently of NPHET aswell when in reality its a load of ****e.

Moving from 2 to 5 in one jump is completely unrealistic.

    As they usually do.

So you can't answer the question posed, you resort to nonsense instead.

Do you know how to build a rocket to get people to the moon?

    No? Guess it's impossible then.

Closing a border is not rocket science, and people asking for the number of soldiers required will STILL not make it impossible.

It's all excuses to avoid solutions that work. You either want to get rid of this thing or you want to complain about the difficulty of it. It's one or the other, but I know which one has a positive outcome.

    SF aren't in government.

Why do you want them to do government work?

I'm finding it difficult if you know how the state operates.

So the GAA are to blame for parties in pubs and houses?

They dismissed the idea that the reintroduction of GAA would increase the spread of Covid. In this case it has. Its a fact.

You can't fool me! no siree. This is just an evil conspiracy to get Halloween cancelled.

First they came for Paddy's day, and I did not speak out...

Mark my words, the real target is Christmas, this is just a practice run.

If they go against the recommendations their careers will be over, it's highly unlikely that they will not follow NPHET. It's just a formality.
To save their political careers they will likely go against it. The numbers provided don’t suggest lvl5 is required. Maybe they give more details when they meet, but if not presented to the pubic, lvl5 will be met with resistance.

Over time? That's a very easy answer.

You want to get rid of this virus with a plan of action, or you want to moan about solutions while the thing destroys the country.

    Pick one.

    Bullshyt.

Building an anti-gravity machine is nigh on impossible.

Closing a border is entirely possible.

"Oh but the bits of paper and the politics!"

See how much a virus thinks of our bits of paper and politics.
I give up after this reply.

So you want to break an international treaty, fair play.

Oh the bits of paper and politics... eh a bit more complex than that now.

At this stage your just being ignorant and thats being polite

I give up myself. I enjoy having a debate on here, seeing both sides and in a way respecting both sides to the argument, but when someone refers to international laws, GFA etc... as bits of paper, he's lumped in with the Gemma's!

Well, you always need to exercise caution about what you put your "faith" in.

There is a whole range of abstracted nonsense floating around in the guise of 'science' (say for example, particularly in the fields of astrophysics) popularised by charlatans that many today take as scripture.

I'm certain you are also aware of the replication crisis in the sciences.

Are you suggesting RDAs are 'abstracted nonsense'?

I wrote it so yes I do. People seem to forget Holohans role in the CS scandal. His castigating of nursing homes for restricting visitors at the start of the pandemic. So yeah he should stay the f**k at home where he can inflict very little harm.

This again.... Visitors didn't bring Covid into nursing homes, staff did.

I'm not the one arguing logistics.

It's far too much work and effort to close the border. Can't be having that.

    So instead...

Another "I don't want to do that" mixed with "that can't be done."?

    What's the alternative?

Meh, I have done it. There was no lockdown for me or my wife. We worked all the way through lockdown when people like you stayed home. No clapping, bonuses, payrise or anything just more of the usual crap. The only cool thing was traffic though it was instantly negated having to queue in shops with "locked down" people many of whom went to shop daily to meet friends and gossip.

Total lockdown? No, it simply cant be done.

    No.

Your complaint in aid of the status quo is rumbled.

Can't be having plans that require effort or difficulty. No sir.

This is just rosey as it is. Wait until next year, ah, it'll be heaven.

So politicians know better than doctors what's right? I don't think they will go against NPHET.

Youre missing the point. What im saying is that the government are fully aware of this NPHET recommendation before it went to the media.

Its not a bolt from the blue, they are probably both trying to concoct a palatable way of meeting somewhere in the middle.

It will.prob land on level 3 in the hope we will be thankful its not level 5 all round.

"Can't" and "won't" are not the same thing.

But eventually, and quickly, it'll be "no choice".

    Watch.

We have had 300 troops return from the Lebanon over the last while.

    7300 army personnel.

    1600 active reservists.

    But..

There are 208 road border crossings between the North and The Republic.
