Give it a break. We has this cr@p back in March. It was neither funny nor clever then either.

It's a lose lose decision for the Government. I'd say Martin won't be sleeping well tonight.
Well, like all of us, they have been blindsided a bit by this, but this time it's not a problem of their own making. I think they will see how much of compromise they can work into it.

I've no problem with Level 5 if that is what is required, and all the "patriots" who can't even be bothered to wear a mask should go f**k off.

What I do have a huge problem is with is jumping from Level 2 to Level 5 out of the blue. If that is the recommendation, someone has completely messed up by not preparing the public for this news. No-one was expecting Level 5. It's not fair on business, it's not fair on people who are already struggling with their mental health, and it frightens people.

Government are far too slow and ponderous to update counties to levels as quickly as required, I mean can anyone make a case for why Monaghan are still on level 2? It means when action happens it requires a leap rather than a step.

Even now the cabinet meeting is tomorrow when they could have met tonight instead and I'd expect several days of dragging their feet before they finally announce something on Thursday evening that won't be implemented until midnight on Friday.

Replace the words "the army" with "optimus prime and bumblebee".
    That is equally as likely.

    Ah we are fkd.

But no one is prepared to monitor it at all. So carry on as you were.

Anyway what is the difference between L2 and L5 anyway if no one will enforce it.

Totally agree with the decision and the responsibility lies with the non compliance and disregard certain people had and have towards the guidelines. At the very least tonight our front line workers will sure breathe a sigh of relief that their safety is still our concern. We or at least a certain proportion of us brought this on ourselves.

Jesus, you’s are easily wound up.
The Irish army won’t sleep in tents in the Phoenix park, never mind take over a country.

You read my posts wrong man, I never said that. The original poster said that 40% of the population was high risk and I said if the figure was that high we would have a lot more deaths and serious illnesses from the cases we have had.

This is what HSE classify as high risk

The list of people in high risk groups includes people who:

are over 60 years of age
    have a learning disability
have a lung condition that's not severe (such as asthma, COPD, emphysema or bronchitis)
have heart disease (such as heart failure)
    have high blood pressure (hypertension)
    have diabetes
    have chronic kidney disease
have liver disease (such as hepatitis)
have a medical condition that can affect your breathing
    have cancer
    have clinically stable cystic fibrosis
have a weak immune system (immunosuppressed)
    have cerebrovascular disease
have a condition affecting your brain or nerves (such as Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy)
have a problem with your spleen or have had your spleen removed
have a condition that means you have a high risk of getting infections (such as HIV, lupus or scleroderma)
are taking medicine that can affect your immune system (such as low doses of steroids)
    have obesity
are residents of nursing homes and other long-stay settings
are in specialist disability care and are over 50 years of age or have an underlying health problem

That's a feckload of people, even more when you add in people living with that group.

Am I right in saying we don't get swab numbers on a Sunday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭jams100

    No deaths reported today.
    Yet lockdown proposed?
I just feel so sorry for all of the small and medium business out there, they've done nothing wrong and spent thousands in some cases on perplex screens, sanitiser etc.
Covid isn't being spread in zara or penny's it through house parties, just drive though estates during the weekend and you'll see people carrying boxes of alcohol clearly heading to parties. Once again young people will suffer the financial consequences of this down the line

And by concentrating on Covid related illness and cutting down treatment and diagnoses of other illnesses a lot more people will die than from Covid.

I thought Doctors had to take an oath to always preserve life, why are they agreeing to this shambles?

The one thing I really don't get is people saying stuff like "we did everything that was asked of us" as if there was a checklist to be completed and then Covid would say fair play you completed all your objectives, I'm away off good luck
