If the economy collapses, so will the health service, they're not mutually exclusive.

a nationwide level 3 will not collapse the economy.

i don't care. this is about actual lives. people are dying every day and it's going to get worse. save lives first, worry about money later.

Until the point comes where you no longer have the money you need to save lives.

Well NPHET didn't recommend any additional level 3 restrictions according to reports this evening so they've not exactly been watered down today

It is obvious that the cork cases are outbreaks and there’s very little community transmission. Local PHT must be confident of it

It's a fairly obvious attempt to alarm those who might view COVID in the past tense and an inconvenience to their social life. If you're not in that group it's little more than just a story.

Nowhere in the story does it make clear what group is involved. They clearly claim he had no underlying conditions.

Its their daily dose of scaremongering with no facts to back it up.

Level 3 has put over 10,000 extra people on social welfare in Dublin.

Please irish government close the bookies. No social distancing or mask wearing and people can stay there all day #Covid19Ireland

Have you been to all bookies in the country or is there a particular one you have an issue with.

Not sure why people are calling it 'uncontrollable'. Prof. Nolan clearly said yesterday community transmission remains stable.

What is it currently, from today?

Only 3 LEAs are above the national average, all of them are in the city.

Funny how there's people going 'what are NPHET doing??'
If NPHET wanted to recommend something today, they would.

    Probably will.
Week 1 of Dublin lockdown added over 10K to the PUP payments.
Same numbers expected again this week from new applications.

Extending level 3 to whole country will probably put 200K people out of work.

i would imagine NEPHET are quite clear and decisive but their recommendations are being endlessly debated and watered down by multiple useless committees and politicians terrified of making hard decisions.

Really? I would imagine that in any other situation where a committee's strategy had failed to deal with a situation to the point that it seemed to be getting out of control again that questions would be asked about that committee and its strategy. But I expect we will just get more of the same.

Level 3 hits the tertiary economy, little else. And only parts thereof. A lot of that sector can work online.

A lot of fearmongering going on from both sides.

At what point does our testing capacity clog up. 442 cases with an average of just 5 close contacts would create a need for 4,420 tests. We are getting close to a point where they may have to restrict testing again.

If you need to see research to understand that point then you shouldn't really be commenting on the economy

Was there an original date for level 2 for rest of country? Assumed it was just ongoing https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1311716148627599364?s=19

Any news on the ages of the people that died, we have figures on everything else.

Yep yourself and Rusty Cole have been going on about that, maybe with Tony back in the fold on Monday they will hopefully start giving this information again.
