401 EV sales in Feb 2020
325 EV sales in Feb 2019

Leaf in first place again, with Kona, M3 and Ioniq following. Kia still haven't got their act together, selling just 94 Souls and 84 eNiros.

The Model 3 is propping up those numbers big time (203 sold this Feb vs 0 last year as it wasn't available). Leaf down ~10%, and Kona down ~40% from this time last year.

Kona down ~40% from this time last year.

As expected. A year ago, Kona was the only long range EV this side of a near €100k Tesla Model S

Now there are eSoul, eNiro, Tesla Model 3, all better value for money than Kona EV. Dare I say even the L62 is better value if you can get it at bottom dollar price that some people got

Only 3 Konas left in the country (allegedly) when I bought in January.

There's always a short supply according to dealers. Every Hyundai dealer told me their ioniq was the last in the country when I was buying last year.

Looks like Hyundai (and others) have been successfully milking it. Nothing wrong with that, businesses ought to maximise profits. Just wish we had more choice and there was more competition...

That was my first reaction but there was a legitimate shortage in the UK last year. This was in contrast to Nissan who were telling me there were plenty of Leafs to go around.

Tough month given the circumstances, just 50 EVs sold in April. A nice 14% of the cars sold in April though.

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

Kia having their moment in the sun. Why they didn't try sell the eNiro when it came out first I don't know.

Ioniq performing at it should do, poorly. Leaf sales way down too as similar sized cars come online.

That's mad seeing any EV sell more than any ICE car for any month lol.

I would say the id.3 accounts for all dealer cars though probably not all sold yet ?

Still mad to think the id.3 is higher in one month than the model 3 for the whole year!

Thats just September sales! Model 3 on 638 YTD.

Yikes, not looking too good for the Kona, I wonder what's going on there?
I'm guessing that includes the Kona Hybrid, I wonder are people holding out for a PHEV or something

The Leaf is way down too, probably because there's a lot more competition in the market now

What happened to Kona is No 4 on the list. Choosing between them is a no brainer.

Fair point, never really understood the attraction of the Kona against the E-Niro, other than the fact that you almost can't get an E-Niro

That can't be all the car sales in Ireland in 2020.

I mean, did Citroen or Dacia not sell anything?
I wouldn't blame anyone for not buying them, but they must have sold a few cars right?

Filtered by electric cars I'd imagine?

Competition is a great thing.. Not helped by the OTR price of €42500 for the slightly updated model as I saw in Waterford recently..

Stolen from the Chademo vs CCS thread... beepbeep.ie went down as soon as I went to it.

This months numbers unsurprisingly a lot of ID.3's registered.
    CCS is now at 5543
    CHAdeMO at 5575.

Very close to calling this a win for ELM327

How the mighty have fallen. Nissan Leaf was always #1. 5th place for August it seems.

Could easily be 4th most popular EV manufacturer by the end of the year. Kia are right behind them. VW could surpass them too if ID3 sales are still ramping up.

Tis what happens when a big launch car gets delivered in 1 big bang. Tesla M3 could of been similar, but deliveries on those spread over months.

Just looking at the filters, there is an option for steam under engine type.

I guess so, must include hybrids as well since I'm fairly sure Ford have no EVs yet

I don't see Ford in that list. I'm pretty sure the list is full EVs only going by the models listed. Though I have no idea what a nissan Evalia is.

I wonder how that fares on the emissions test :D
Technically the 'engine' is powered by steam, the firebox is part of the heating system

Looks like it, though as far as I'm aware there's no such thing as an electric Mini Clubman.

There's a hybrid Clubman so maybe that?

Tesla Model 3 got the lead as the most sold EV for the year so far, equating the total number EVs sold in 2017. Also overtook BMW 5 series by 19 units
Interesting Kona recovered in September selling 57 units vs 20 in Sept 2019. I wonder if the end of BIK is pushing this.
