Because I am 31 and statistically covid is of negligible risk to me; like 1 in 1000s risk of dying. It is an over 65s flu without a vaccine so, if the OAPs are fearful of covid, we can set them up at home with whatever they need.

You really dont get it, many older people live with younger people and can't isolate from them, many old people need to be cared for by younger people, many older people have to leave the house to get essentials like shopping, dentist, doctor.

The more the virus spreads in the community the greater the chance they will catch it simple as that. In order to help protect them the best course of action is restrictions and lockdowns because some people refuse to behave.

There should not be one single house party happening in this country until covid is gone if everyone wanted things to improve but far too many selfish pigs to allow that happen, there should be no one meeting in big groups, no groups of friends from different houses meeting in the pub etc etc.

But as people are too thick to do this we will have to lockdown more and more to force their hand.

Yes, NPHET are deflecting blame onto the Irish public for putting the hospitals under pressure when we have a chronically inefficient and wasteful health service which is responsible for its own inability to meet with the needs of society.

Covid is of no greater risk to older people than simply by being old in the first place. You only have to look at the data to see that the deaths have come from those that were close to (either just under or just over) the average life expectancy in Ireland.

That is grossly incorrect statement. Road crashes kill 1.3m people worldwide on an annual basis. Huge problem right? Or maybe not?

I was referring to Ireland where covid has already killed approximately 18 times more people than road accidents.

At least take the party outside in small numbers and try not to glue yourselves to each other too much when you are pissed. Find someone trustworthy to shag and stick with them. Stop spreading the it is just a flu propaganda or masks are muzzles lies.

    Mask
    Soap
    Distance
    Live within a smaller circle

A mix of rationality and pragmatism, not the occult tin foil hat stuff

Don't let them in without proof of covid negative at this side, few days forced quarantine possibly less as tests get quicker. Essential only travel. The sort of common sense stuff others are already doing.

The actions of a small country are little concern to the 8BN and you know it.

And the land border we have with NI?

Make a pact for them to do the same. It is not rocket science, despite the politics we all share the same problem

    No thanks.

And my reference to the rest of the world is in relation to the problem of whatever we decide to do needing to be kept up for as long as any other country doesn’t do it as good as us.

The solution is only as good as the worst country. We’ll die, strangled, economically while waiting for it to be eradicated.

That is exactly my point!!! There is no end in sight thanks in no small part to those who resist it.

    That theory has fascinated me.

Its completely beyond possibility to isolate those at risk.

The only solution is to isolate those not at risk.

Covid is the 1950s catholic church.

The evening NPHET bulletin is the Angelus

And where do we get the resources to police the hundreds of roads that cross the border and back?? In cloud cuckoo land there may only be one road between us, in reality there are hundreds.

Forget the land border and worry about the sea/air. Simple

Well for some, talking up more restrictions as it is of great benefit to you sitting at home watching Netflix all day and getting Deliveroo.

So what about people who, you know, fly into NI - beyond our control - and then drive down to the Republic. What do we do there then under this plan?

You missed the part about a pact to both do the common sense thing.

So your gonna tell the Unionists that no one from Britain can enter NI by sea or air?? And they’ll say, “No bother. Forget politics, we’re all in this together.”

Then go ahead and tell the unionists they need to secede from the Union for a while, you don’t know for how long, just until this is over, and see how you get on.

You don’t understand the land border/Irish Sea border idea issue.

Wasn’t it New Zealand that went >100 days without a positive test? And then they got one? Strange how NZ’s figures and lockdown policies don’t make the news here like they used to actually.
