Are deaths recent or are they adding deaths from a few weeks or months ago?

If kids going back to school was driving the increase in infections in general the proportion of children being infected should increase as a proportion of all. It hasn’t indicting the rate in children is following the overall rate. It’s not rocket science
We expect that kids are more likely to be asymptomatic. So the fact the amount of cases has doubled in a month is a major concern.

Puts an end to any vaccine or herd immunity guff anyway

So lockdown , restrictions etc are a waste of time? Just open everything up and let it rip.

Recent according to the news on all TV channels and various news websites. You should try them sometime, very informative. :)

So after 7 months of not seeing anyone, wearing a mask, sanitizing my hands everytime I'm out or in shops I've still managed to catch a cold off someone

What chance is there of stopping this virus without a vaccine? A year of rolling lockdowns ahead of us.

A lie, singular. Ok I 'm going to suggest you PM me to find out exactly what your issue is. Because at this stage this stalking is getting weird.
One lie about your wife, one lie about you claiming you'd explained it away.

I've no interest in taking it to PM, I already know you're not the paragon of honesty you claim to be - it's more useful if other posters know it too.
I'm very happy to drop it, if you'll stop insinuating other posters are dishonest.

Ive cousin in Belfast, had at least 3 symptoms and was in a bad way and couldnt get tested.

    Sounds like a shambles

Hear the same, seems like testing not working but at the same time so many cases so expect could be lot higher

Sorry was in the garden didn't see it. I actually agree with everything you say.
I'm delighted to inform you that I've just removed you from my ignore list. Fair play.
I was in the garden, weeding and strimming.
I'm out regularly keeping the place looking good. I take vitamin d too even though I get more sun than most in this country. I'm pro-lockdown with schools closed too.

So far in the last hour you've dismissed any chance of a vaccine and now expect to live your whole life under restrictions.

Are you just looking for a reaction by posting such things? Because there's little logic behind most of your posts

No. No we won't. Not for a virus with a survival rate of over 99% and with mild or no symptoms for the vast majority. Treatments are improving continually and the death rate is dropping as a result. Theres no need to be under restrictions and lockdowns our whole lives. You're being ridiculous.

I swear some people are excited by the prospect of living in an apocalyptic scenario and are willing it to happen.

No I'm just saying that the increase in reported reinfections doesn't bode well for herd immunity or a vaccine. Because of that then we'll most likely live long term with restrictions in place one form or another

Of course it's a concern but one that is weighed up using positives versus negatives. It is far better for a child to be in school and subject to the multiple benefits that entails.
Mine have almost all those benefits at home, including playdates with other families who haven't sent their kids back.

I was just thinking, considering we have now research to suggest that viral particles can be propelled when someone flushes up to 3 FT in the air and linger there before then landing on surfaces, should there not be a major push to ensure that every public bathroom in the country has a lid, with public health posters put up reminding people to close the lid before going for the flush?

In most disabled toilets and toilets in hospitals there is no lid, which surely means this could become a huge risk area for infection? Surely technology exists to have toilet lids fitted so that it automatically close before the flush mechanism kicks in?

The results from Bristol University in a few weeks will be telling, it would be great to see research into transmission of viruses in public toilets. I think Smart Toilets, which can accurately assess if someone has viral particles in their faeces will be an invaluable tool in stopping future pandemics. I mean why wait until it hits the sewage, it could identify if someone had virus and then public health teams could develop action plan to stop the spread. We have smart TVs, Smart Fridges, Smart Toilets will be next and with detailed data analytics it could be a game changer for public health and for longetivity.

But in meantime, don't forget, drop the lid, then flush.

I brought my young lad over to Kildare Farm Foods earlier to have a look at the animals but didnt make it past the shop which is the only means of entrance, we just turned around and left.
Place was shoulder to shoulder with absolutely no monitoring of numbers or social distancing , tables in the restaurant as close together as pre-covid.
Atleast one staff member on the checkout with no mask or surrounding.
This was by far the worst case ive seen of blatant ignorance to the rules , lets just pack them in to spend seems their motto.
As far as i know entrance to the farm is free, you could have made your way through the shop without spending a penny and given yourself and son a lovely free day out in the open air.It only takes a few minutes to access the farm and i'm sure you were both suitably protected with masks etc.

That's great for yours, but as have been pointed out to you several times by other posters school is the only safe place for many children and a guaranteed meal.
Also it has been pointed out that online learning is not an option for thousands of families but again you choose to ignore this.
Finally since you are homeschooling your children till a vaccine is found why are you so adamant in wanting the schools closed. It doesn't concern you tbh.

Here's my thoughts , we all have a different perspective on danger. The poster in question may have felt the environment was unsafe but that does not mean it was instead of passing on his concerns ,posting here was the priority. I offered an example of another poster complaining of people not wearing masks in restaurants or bars (,post is still up on the masks thread)
Yes a business trying to survive, money is the bottom line. Thoughts and prayers whilst a nice sentiment don't cut it

Imagine someone knew that the publican in Roscommon was awaiting a test and told people to watch out. Could have prevented some of the infection.
