    HUB Hospital details finally updated

    Hospitalised
    100, 5 admitted and 4 discharged

    ICU
    17, 3 admitted 0 discharged

Does anyone know how many of the Covid-positive cases in hospital were only tested because they were being admitted for some other reason.
I know of two such cases. Neither had any symptoms of Covid.

When the positivity rate starts to climb its a sign they are losing the containment battle and covid prevalence is increasing. If it continues a national lockdown can't be far off as a suggestion from NPHET.

Don't worry we have levels 4 and 5 to save us.

Should be tv ads that actually show this effect.
Might get it through some peoples fat heads how masks work.

It's sad that some of our relaxer fanatics are contributing to the the rising numbers/deaths.

Rising deaths? Did they rise from -2 to 0?

    You tell me.

How can you scapegoat people for something that hasn't happened? Deaths haven't risen. They were 0 today and they'e been at 0-3 for ages.

Maybe they will rise in the future. Perhaps hold off on the blame game until then.

Have a friend working in contract tracing as part of occupational health in the mater. Taking care of contract taking for staff. She mentioned as soon as mandatory masks came in in the the hospital, the cases dropped like a stone. Still has the odd one here and there, but nothing like late spring early summer.

    Well no it doesn't.

For that to be true, the positivity rate would have to remain stable or decrease.

    It's going up.

The positivity rate this week seems to include a number of re-tests. A lot more than 350 extra cases would be expected in the last 7 days from 9,000 extra tests.

We'll see what the next two days brings for comparison.

Last week(Mon 14th to Sunday 20th) Cases was 1,982 and 10 deaths reported.

So far this week 1,406 and 5 deaths reported

Do you realise he had symptoms, got tested but refused to isolate? Not sure what off licences have to do with it but your correct parties all over place won't be helping either.

Apparently, there were schoolkids on the premises celebrating an eighteenth birthday party. Of course, they went into school this week. Principal in school in neighbouring area was furious, understandably so. Their parents obviously not taking Covid 19 seriously, either. What chance is there of the numbers going down when people such as these muppets in Elphin and elsewhere ignore the dangers of this highly contagious virus?

It's not scapegoating. It's people blatantly breaking the rules. And yet again, how do you end up with covid deaths reducing by -2? Spoofin'

Yeah but we didn't report any deaths for months and now we have an upward trend which will continue for another week or two at least. It's not rocket science. You can't have increasing cases forever without deaths and hospitalisations eventually starting to increase as well which is what is happening now. People dying is sad whatever but the main issue is health system capacity.

    Hse operations report

    102 in hospital (no change)

17 in ICU (increase of 1)
    8 ventilated (decrease of 1)

1 death in ICU in last 24 hrs unfortunately

I see there's more positive cases than suspected cases now.
Remember when RTE use to have to use the suspected case numbers when confirmed cases in hospital were so low and they couldn't scare people with such low figures.

    Confirmed deaths (date of date)
    July: 14
    August: 4
    September: 22

No denying deaths are following the hospitalizations, which follow the cases, which follow the lapses in adhering to guidelines.

While its true that deaths may rise soon, to say that they have already risen when they haven't and start apportioning the blame early is mad. Talk about missing basic facts.

In fact there are more active cases overall now than there were on the day in April when over 200 people died (April 10th?). Look at Worldometer Ireland and compare the first wave to second wave.

This could be for any number of reasons but the obsession people have with the simple cause and effect formula around restrictions is the extent of their thinking usually.

I think the decline of the late late is of more serious concern. Even before covid it was a snooze fest.
Why can't Ryan get decent guests ?!

    It's not scapegoating.

Its the very definition of scapegoating. You are saying that people are responsible for causing deaths when you have no way to know and no way to prove they are responsible.

Its fine if you want to hold a belief in a set of restrictions which theoretically prevent unknown transmission. Its not okay if you want to say that x person is directly responsible for transmission because they didn't adhere properly to theoretical containment method y. A droplet-transmitted virus! You yourself may have spread it around without knowing, even while following all restrictions.

What do you mean following the lapses in adhering to guidelines? Are you saying that you can prove that adherence to guidleines increased from July to August then decreased from August to September?

My friend, you are making assumptions then working backwards from those assumptions.

So tell me, what caused the increase in cases?
