Level 3, according to the almighty plan.

Bars, cafes and restaurants (including hotel restaurants and bars)
    Additional restrictions for indoor dining.

    Wet pubs
    Remain open with additional restrictions.

    Nightclubs, discos and casinos

Nightclubs, discos and casinos will remain closed.

    What those additional restrictions are....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Will they close the pubs in donegal as well? I know it says "up to closure" on the level 3 plan.

That's a kick in the nads for those who only opened again Monday.

Technically under 3 they stay open with additional restrictions whatever they might be.

Outdoor dining or takeaway is level 4 so Dublin got level 3 with level 4 for hosptiality

Is there a press conference tonight?

Cabinet meeting should be concluded by 6 according to Twitter so I expect some form of announcement.

Hope someone ties up Martin's hands so he stops using them whilst talking though :D

I dont think many people are taking any heed of the new levels 'plan'. It died the day it was delivered.

Donegal is going to Level 3 with a sprinkle of Level 5 (wet pubs).

Level 3: Remain open with additional restrictions.
Level 4: Outdoor seating only, limited to a maximum of 15 patrons.

So you'd imagine level 3 is "restricted" but indoor pinting.

But then Dublin, so who knows.

Dublin North West still driving the numbers there and Dublin South still under national average

Actually, Strabane which borders Donegal has an incidence rate of 141 so it's likely linked given people work either side of the border.

Cases are up in the last 3 weeks since testing was ramped up and the schools reopened, is there no allowance for this?

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 58,444 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

I guess that's the 'additional restrictions' get out clause :D

Not too many people are going to be drinking outside in this weather so wet pubs are effectively closed.

They're hardy up in Donegal, sitting outside drinking a pint....

I suspect this is a way to avoid being seen having to shut pubs only a week after allowing them to open. Because that would highlight the lack of wisdom in that decision at a time where we are seeing cases rise nationally, and it also gave false hope to the businesses involved.

They should all collaborate to open up together on the same day at the same time. They can't close them all down.
