€21,000 of options. Men, women, young, old, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a car that has had such presence.

    M3 & M4 Competition:

That M3 front could easily be mistaken for an Alfa Romeo Giulia imo.

I don’t usually like Audi’s but that’s gorgeous. Enjoy it.

Yeah I was saying that (maybe in this thread?) when I saw the first pictures of it. The headlights in particular are really similar. The Alfa is far prettier though, no question.

Colour aside, I think they do look quite similar as mentioned

Optional carbon seats for it are a 3.5k option in UK.

I love when you can spec seats like this in new cars. Whether they are wing backs for older vw and audi or the shell seats for the focus rs. They are always a pricey option new but make the interior.

Whats it like compared to the RS5 you reviewed, Mark? Same colour as far as I remember. Decent price jump too I would imagine.
I'd have one of them over a supercar any day of the week in my Lotto garage, you'd feel like a w**ker driving around in a Ferrari or Lambo, even a Porsche 911 is a bit OTT but I do like them.

Close call between that and RS6 but I think I would go for the 7.

High performance Audi or BMW coupe, you could get away with and I'd be happy to be called a w**ker becuase I wouldnt feel like one.

Part of me says I could buy a used one in many years time when they become normal car money but I could do that now in an older M5 or RS6 and I haven't so I probably never will.

So, its very likely not where I would go next keeping with the thread title but looking forward to your review

Interesting that BMW are introducing a 128ti, a warm m135i and more a competitor for the Golf GTi:

I can see this stealing a lot of Mk8 GTI sales. It's the same value proposition really but with more power, a more premium badge and a more user-friendly cabin that has buttons! When I saw the vid first, I actually thought, that's something I'd consider replacing my Mk7 GTI with. Sounds like they're taking the dynamics pretty seriously too.

The m135i is 52k here and standard golf gti with dsg is a few hundred short of 47k.
The BMW has another level of performance and four wheel drive.
The 128ti may undercut the golf even based on current prices. Unfortunately the BMW just is not a looker but I do admit it looks better in reality than in pictures. The interior quality of the BMW is also a step up from the golf.
Golf will probably have bigger discounts and cheaper finance though.

You'd deprive yourself the experience of the best cars in the world, for the sake of some random idiot possibly thinking you're a wanker? Jesus, the Lotto would be wasted on you :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

Would be thinking the m135i is a BMW Golf R, and the 128 is the Gti.

GTi is a brand on it's own, and many are part of that and associate with that and it's not something the 1 series has, so the beamer really needs to be better to sway those VW fans over.

No, I said I'd feel like a wanker in a supercar. Don't even like them anyway, when top gear and the likes were in flamboyant supercars Id no interest.

I did say I wouldn't care what anyone thought about the rs7.
Anyway, it's all hypothetical I don't even play it.

Different animal to the RS5. Extra 200bhp for starters, 800nm of torque. V8 power delivery.

That said, the RS5 doesn’t feel like a vastly inferior car considering the 40k price difference. If you’re not tearing around, a TDI A7 won’t feel vastly inferior either but as an overall package it is hard to beat. Easy to drive, doesn’t have to be going fast all the time, will easily cope with heavy traffic etc. So it’s a bit of a split personality car.

Had it out in Mondello today so it stretched the legs.

You'd still take the fiesta though.....right??

Funnily enough, the Fiesta is easier to enjoy on a regular basis as it won’t get you into the same level of trouble. It’s a car that also needs to be garaged, I’m not sure you’d sleep properly long term with it parked on a normal driveway.

I hope Mondello is part of the review! Would be a great addition for cars like these where you can show the speedometer without being worried about the guards!!

Reminds me a bit of the newer mustang in that shot, from the front! Jesus the depreciation will be mindblowing here in the first year....

If it's a €200k car it'd be on a forecourt for €150/160k when a year old alright I'd imagine.......... the first owner would take a bigger hit again invariably.

Somebody driving and running a 200k car probably ain't too bothered about depreciation the same way they probably ain't too bothered about putting fuel into it. They will probably write some of that depreciation off against tax.

Yeah absolutely no interest in costs for any potential buyer. Cars like this are expensive toys for big boys and not means of transport to keep an eye on costs with. Market used is just as small as market new, perhaps smaller even

Did anyone record a lap time around mondello - i know nobody would be mad enough to put it on the limit but an effortless lap time would be interesting.

    How can that be done?
If a company car there's BIK unless you are doing loads of miles and also...... Should you purchase a vehicle outright, you may claim capital allowances (Depreciation) at a rate of 12.5% of the vehicle cost each year you own the vehicle. The calculated value is limited to €24,000 in Vehicles with CO2 Category A, B & C. It reduces for Category D & E by 50% and is not allowable for Category F & G.

Revenue have the company car thing all wrapped up so that there's little benefit trying to go that route with an ICE.

Surprised at how poor the new rs6 did in this carwow drag race test. Same power as the rs7 I'm guessing too? It's easily the best looking of the cars on test though.

That would've made sense Mick but I only thought of it flicking through the endless instrument options with a lap timer and 1/4 mile timer on the way home from the track

Was chatting to a guard there and he was admiring it. Is it a hybrid he asked?! I said no but put it this way, you'd need air support to catch me in it. He looked over at his i40 and said, yeah, I hear ya. :D
